The Hive - We Want Support, Not Permission
thewardogkatana@gmail.com replied to guidez's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I personally prefer private hives to public hives, for all the specified reasons above, as well as the community. A Private whitelisted server has a community unlike many others. Everyone knows everyone, and stories and betrayal can cascade with a fluidity that just doesn't jell on a public server where everyone is a random. From my personal experience on the server that Guides Himself runs there is no admin abuse of the server. In fact he actually prefers the harsh brutality of death, and loss of product, even if its him that gets the rough end. Its what makes it fun, at least on our server. Then there are the possibilities for events, like Hunger games, or other random fun things that mix up our standard playstyles and get us just goofing off with the community before returning back where we left off in the dark depth of the real, brutal DayZ. I personally will never play on a public server again after playing on the private hive. I just don't enjoy public anymore. -
Hero Skin won't stay.(humanity problem)
thewardogkatana@gmail.com posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I've been playing for a good long while now, and always being the medic I have raised quite a bit of humanity up. I achieved Hero Skin(dropping my pack before administering the final blood transfusion to ensure I dont lose my items) and realize all of my stats are set to 0, including my humanity. If I disconnect and reconnect my character loses the hero skin and I drop back down to 4990 humanity, losing my pack(if I'm dumb enough to leave it on before relog) Is there any way to keep my Hero skin? Or must I re-grind my 5k humanity without ever logging out? -
Looking for private server? In here!
thewardogkatana@gmail.com replied to Max Planck's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Figured I'd plop down the information about the server I currently play on, seeing as it can be relevant to those seeking the same home as I have. If you want to talk to the admin directly, head on over to http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/85543-derp-dayz-private-1725-96015-whitelist/ and leave a post. -
Derp Dayz (Private, 1.7.2.6 - 96548, Whitelist)
thewardogkatana@gmail.com replied to guidez's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This is the only server I will play on. Excellent load times(15-30 seconds maximum) As a US user I usually range from 20-70 ping, with never having ever seen a yellow or red chain. Full daylight so I can play whenever I want, and great spawn times on vehicles. I am so sold. -

I understand that, but It takes 20 blood transfusions to get to 5k. All while not ever logging off. I was hoping there would be an alternative. -
[VIDEO] Retard Rescue w/Friendly In Cherno
thewardogkatana@gmail.com posted a topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Me and a couple of guys from Friendly in Cherno(http://steamcommunity.com/groups/dayzfic) decided to go hog wild on the airfield. With 6 of us in a jeep, we moved out north and made a bee-line to see what trouble we could get into. We had no idea what would happen, and after server lag and a lot of scares, we found the need to rescue our mates. Thus, Retard Rescue was born! :P -

Nope :P -
1. Show Who killed Who. 2. More game and hostile wildlife. (Deer, Bears, Wolves, Elk, Moose) 3. More Weather interaction. Rain reduces visibility, snow storms. Etc.
-
More sandbox activities

I'd like snow, and the zombie barracades, but everything else no thanks. I dont want the zombie apocalypse to end. Nor do I want NPCs. -
One Idea to Fix Them All (D'Cing in combat, server hopping, relogging to move)

Far too complicated. Far too irritating. I'd agree with Catman here. -

Maca, the only thing I disagree with is the server block of thirty minuets? What happens if the server connection drops you? That is 30 mins you can't play the game. As a person who only plays on one server, I do not want that because I do disconnect from my home server due to connection problems/power surges. etc. I dunno what servers you all are playing on, but I've only seen one instance of D/C'ing to get away and get back, and we had 8 people waiting to blast that person no matter how far they ran on a different server. -

Remain spelling at the level you currently are, I'll continue to assume you're ignorant as hell. I don't care what you think honestly, was merely pointing out the reality. -

@Zombie31 I personally have never done it. I have seen it done by my friends, but I am a medic, so no you ignoramus, I have never done any exploit in the game nor have I needed to :D Also, not a man, bro. @Zipper: I haven't done it. As stated previously. I honestly don't care if people DC or not. It doesn't bother me as I don't need to kill other people. I am a medic. My need for violence only rests on zed. -

No the person should be able to log off if they are bleeding. That is far too cumbersome. Some of us get frustrated by getting smacked by zed when we have no bandages, and we want to wait for our eminent blood letting to continue when our mates get online to patch us up. The timer should be 15 seconds globally. With no prevention of logging out. Thats bollocks and rude to those of us who do not exploit. -

WoW uses 15 seconds, which is where I got my idea from. 15 seconds is plenty. -

1 Minuet is impractical. That is an entire 60 seconds your arse is sat in the grass waiting for someone to pick off an easy kill. The timer should be 15 seconds maximum. 15 seconds is ample time to prevent the D/C wuss committee from protecting their precious bodies, while not hampering those of us who aren't running around killing people and getting us killed. 15 Seconds is the only reasonable time. 30 seconds is far too long, and can be exploited by murderers. 1 minuet is absolutely ridiculous and shouldn't even exist as a suggestion. Also, another note, the countdown should be able to be cancelled. That way if you are D/C'ng for the night, and someone comes up and tries to pick you off while you are trying to get off the game, you can cancel the countdown and defend your life. -
Why not spawn all over the map instead of the coast?
thewardogkatana@gmail.com replied to Soup (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Spawning on the coastline is also great for navigation purposes. As said by someone previously, when new players get into the map, they have no idea what is going on most like, and haven't found a map online(I did that first before joining two weeks ago), and have no way to navigate. But its common knowledge how to tell east from west from the coastline. Everyone has at least seen chernarus once, and knows that if the ocean is on your right, you're headed east. The ocean on your left means you're headed West. Its simpler. Spawning randomly inland is probably more hazardous to newspawns than on the coast. As those of us who travel north are often fairly decently geared and will protect our goods with our lives. Many of us are shoot-on-sight. I personally tell those I do not know to leave me be or I will shoot them. I do not play with people I don't know personally out of safety. The rest of my band however will shoot anyone that gets within 2km of our camp for protection's sake. Spawning on the coast gives them more opportunity to learn and obtain items simply. Never, do I want Rocket to change the spawn points. Newspawns just need to learn the game the way the rest of us did. Trial and error, and preparedness. No reason all the new kids should be coddled when the rest of the long-term players had to go through hell and back to get what they earned. I am not a long-term player, but half my band is, and as a newer player(as I said i'm about 2 weeks into DayZ), I do not want to be given my items. I want to earn them. So should everyone else. -

thewardogkatana@gmail.com replied to Soup (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Personally I prefer spawning on the coast. Spawning inland, while "nice" for newer players, takes a lot of the challenge out of the game. It would also make Balota, a favorite spot of mine, as well as the airfield the new Cherno/Elektro. Which I do not like. I prefer for most of the heat to sit down south as I navigate my way north. I purposefully spawn in cherno/elektro, mostly because I know how to slink into the cities and escape with ample supplies without receiving heat. I do not want the spawn points to change. Everyone should start on the coast, and navigate from there. It also teaches new players how to react to the brutality of the world. Trial and error builds knowledge and skill. Leave the north as it is. If it becomes crowded, by newspawns that are trigger-happy it can be annoying. Let newspawns work out their bloodthirst in Cherno/Elektro.
