I assume this happens so people zooming through empty towns don't leave a trail of spawns for the server to manage.

I've never used the FAL myself but from videos I've seen it does seem to have some impressive effective range. I hope the Bizon and FAL ammo will eventually put into the normal military loot tables. We have so far found 6 FALs and 2 mags :P

Did you drive right up to the building? If so nothing spawned because the spawner is only triggered by players and not cars. This is why zombies do not spawn when you drive around. You need to park over 50 metres away and walk up to the building, loot and zeds should spawn.

Have vehicles become super rare since the up-tick in players?
Macenzie replied to Bloggz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Look for people's hiding spots. Vehicles take a minimum of 7 days to spawn if they have not been touched in a while. Expect a new vehicle to spawn rarely. -
Chenarus need for blood...a bit ridiculous
Macenzie replied to willieredneck's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sometimes sprinting can cause instant death, this engine is notorious for glitches of this nature. Like I always say: The ARMA II engine is great until it encounters something it doesn't expect, then it just kills you. -
Playable? This build is perfectly playable. Alot of what you cite is more problems with the ARMA II engine itself and thus will be tougher to fix.

That's some crazy shit right there. Yep.

So me and a buddy did something stupid...

Question about Zombie behaviour, need help with the research!
Macenzie replied to djkling's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
From what I have observerved. They pretty much wander in a random direction from their spawn point, changing direction at random. They also have a tendancy to gravitate towards players, but not all the time. -
You obviously have no imagination. This is a sandbox, make your own fun. Set an objective and go complete it. - Raid NWAF for better gear - Look for vehicles to repair - Set up camp store spare gear - Raid a hospital so you have a tent full of spare medical gear - Put together a group on comms (its much more fun to do these things together) - Hunt bandits - Hunt players - Hunt zombies Hopfully more and more game mechanics will be introduced over the course of development so we can havea bigger choice of what to do.

New NVG Spawn location?
Macenzie replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It would make sense to find some kind of night vision in a deerstand, hunters do use that kind of stuff (although why hunters in Chernerus hunt deers with automatic rifles I don't know!) I wouldn't expect military grade Gen 4+ night vision (the NVG in game) there though, that shit is expensive and hard to get ahold of. Maybe some crappy Gen 1/2 (much shorter range, relies heavily on beaming IR). Maybe I'm looking too deep into this. Anyway back to the point, I do not think NVG spawns in regular military loot spots, just the 'advanced' military loot spots and downed choppers. -

You're a modest guy huh Viperus? -
The existance of ghillie suits are well documented and have been in game for several builds. They only give you a cosmetic change. So players will spot you less (in grassland) but zeds wont change.

This is all hearsay, I'd like some proof first. -
I have seen the light: Time to kill random strangers!
Macenzie replied to CongressmanAlexShrub's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd say the game at this stage is indeed a death match. My point is, this is a sandbox game. DayZ is all of those things and none of those things. There are players who choose to deathmatch around Cherno. There are players who group up and survive. There are players who go it alone. There are players who like to take high powered sniper rifles and prey on those looking for loot. The game is what you make it. -

I see alot of occupations that are quite specific to the nature of combat and or helping people. So let me provide some data from a desk job perspective. Occupational History: 5 years, sales assistant in a department store 6 years, web development Playstyle: I prefer to play in a well organised team with voice communications. Although I enjoy the occasional solo op. I tend to take charge of fireteams but only if no other leader has come forward. I do not take pleasure in killing but do so out of nessesity to survive. I do shoot first if the target is: A: Not one of my group B: Knows of my/our position So this means if another survivor comes across my team on an op in (especialy dangerous territory like the south coast of the NWAF) and I know that they have spotted us I will respond with leathal force. If I spot them and they have not seen us, I tend to let them go about their business (unless it conflicts with my goal, so if they are looting the barracks and I am here to loot the barracks I will engage) Some may consider this baditry but I do not, I do not hunt players. I just kill them if they pose a risk to me and my squad. Make of that what you will. EDIT: Since direct communications have been reinstated I do try to establish contact with those who stumble across me. If I can negotiate a peaceful resolution (IE them lowering their weapons and walking away) then I will. However if they do not respond or come at me with weapons drawn I will take them down. -
The thing with the broken legs

Protip: You can silently blow out hospital windows by throwing tin cans at them ;3 -

Source? I've not heard anything like that. -
The thing with the broken legs
Macenzie replied to Hai_Happen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In the patch notes for 1.7.2 (the next patch) Rocket is lowering the chance to receive a broken leg from zombies. Morphine spawns are fairly common, if you know where to look. -
[Mod/Admins reply] Hacked weapons usable?
Macenzie replied to Jemoeder's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As far as I am aware, using a hacked weapon will not get you banned immediatly. However I hear these weapons will either: Turn into Makarovs Get you a warning from the devs (and a subsequent ban if unheeded) So drop that shit like its hot. -
Anyone able to loot help crash sites yet?
Macenzie replied to Unforsaken Assassin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've looted dozens of chopper crashes. Loot spawns on the ground surrounding the chopper, sometimes you will find loot directly under the chopper (I've found an M14 under it before, could only see it because the barrel poked out of it!) You've just been unlucky.
