I was just wondering if these 2 particular mods are supported by DayZ. If not will they ever be? I would love to be able to play DayZ with both these mods active on a server. Thanks. Fairwell, had enough of this
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to LieutenantDan's topic in New Player Discussion
Perhaps you just need an attitude change or perhaps you're simply talking to people in the wrong way. One day I was walking near a hedge and was shot in the back and looted of all my stuff. I called them Bastards and laughed it off, respawned, brushed myself down and carried on. Later on that day I actually spoke to a friend of the guys that shot me. Seemed they liked my chipper happy go lucky attitude and invited me on their TeamSpeak. Been playing along side them ever since and found out they aren't a bunch of blood thirsty sociopaths but actually a fun group of people. Fact is, don't take PVP personally in this game. If you do, you will never make any friends. I remember the days when one could play an FPS game, kill someone and get a reply of "good shot!" or "nice gun fight" Seems those days good sportsmanship have passed and game chat nowadays is filled with "FU NOOB!" or "WTF did you kill me you asshole!" I find that the latter group of players make less friends than the former. Could possibly also be due to the fact that PC game players are getting younger and younger. Either way, a good attitude and not taking it too seriously is a good direction to go, in my experience anyway. -
Basically done with this game for now. Sadly, it's just a slow paced deathmatch.
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to boogiemanfl's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All I can add to this is, I've played in a private server with friends where we have everything and there's no threat of PVP. After the honeymoon of getting all the vehicles without problems and all the top gear without any threat or risk the game becomes exceedingly dull. PVP is an absolute must in this game. Without it the game simply has no excitement. With no PVP you might as well load up the editor, spawn some zombies and a few vehicles and drive around them in circles. Don't get me wrong, I too hate losing hours of game time to some trigger happy idiot with a small dick, big gun complex. But without that high risk of running into these idiots the game has very little thrill or excitement. Death-matching isn't really the issue here. It's lack of goals and things to do. This is a prime example of today's youth on the streets. Without places like youth centers, community activities and the like, kids simply go out, vandalize, break into buildings, steal cars etc.. just for the simple fact they are bored and have no direction or goals. You will always get the small minority who're an exception to the rule ( real bandits ). But the majority of players will club together for the greater good. Don't lose faith in the mod yet. It's still to early to make such a sweeping judgement. Lets see what Rocket has planned in future releases. I'm hoping we will all be very surprised. -
Remove the Hourglass When Unconcious
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to urspider2018@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I love any idea that adds to the immersion. Has my vote. As for blur, not everyone has post processing effects turned on so blur wouldn't effect everyone. Perhaps a fade in and out of black simulating passing in and out of consciousness as well as the blur. -
The fact is, you make the choice to use an online map. The whole point of this game is immersion. If you choose to use an online map then that's your choice and you will lose any immersion that comes when playing without it. I prefer not having a map when spawning, it adds to that confusion and disorientation Rocket is trying to achieve.

Remove Hiding Bodies...
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to infinitegrim's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's called Scorched Earth and is a very effective tactic. If I take your resources, you have a reduced ability to retaliate. Some insight in its use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorched_earth -
I agree with this and not just for vet servers. I think body shots should only knock back, stun or change posture of the infected. This would also tie in well with my slower zombie suggestion here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=24415

Alternative Creepy Music for DayZ

Awesome work m8! I often play with the dawn/day of the dead soundtrack going. ( sad I know ) but a soundtrack can make all the difference between a good experience and an awesome one. -

Here ya go m8. http://www.twitch.tv/pcgamer/b/322996808 2 hours! holy cow. Thanks =) It would be really cool if he did do this Yeah it gives some really nice insights into his way of thinking and what he is trying to achieve in the mod. From what I can fathom, there was a good reason he added total pitch black night times and that was he is intending to add a power grid to light the roads, towns and cities. -
Airborne virus. V4
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would think that a single large area would be more than suffice. Imagine the whole of Cherno and say 300 meter drop off around the zone. Without adding any other features and working with the current system I think perhaps as you enter the zone you start to bleed, the bleed level increases the further into the zone you go. So outer edge of the zone, just a tiny level of blood loss. You could easily run 100 meters into the outer rim of the zone and get out. Beyond that you would really struggle without gas mask or bio suit. If there was a new system to handle it, you would have a respiratory system to handle the mechanics. Also with a respiratory system you could gave the player getting out of breath when sprinting which slows the player which would work with my other suggestion for slower zombies which can be found here: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=24415 Also camping would become somewhat hindered by the mist/fog levels in the area. Combat would be reduced to CQC in these areas which would make for some fierce street battles. Could even dig down even further into the idea where bio suits are damaged in combat and have to be repaired. Any bio suits looted from dead corpses would need repair before being used again. -

From what I can gather in PCGAMER interview with Rocket, he has been toying with the idea of having a working power grid. Love the idea though. This mod needs more community based objectives. -

It's funny because I was thinking of a similar idea but my thought was having restricted zones much like the irradiated town in Fallout Vegas. I was thinking derailed train or crashed plane. I know - I know, cliche. But the crash site would be ground zero, cause of the outbreak. Military transferring chemical weapons/ test vaccines or something. These areas would be engulfed in a cloud of fog and as the OP suggested these zones would only be accessible with gas masks or even full bio suits. Could even have it around Cherno or one of the big cities. These restricted zones would have high tier resources. Could even have it where the outer limits of the crash zone would only require gas masks. as you get closer to the crash zone you have to wear bio suits. -
This would so be abused. Group gets one player to die, waits for zombie with "sweet loot" to spawn. Group kills zombie, gets loot. Rinse and repeat. In regards to loot spawning. It really needs to be completely random. This would reduce farming and server hopping farmers. I do like the idea of the possibility of players corpses rising from the dead after they are killed. Perhaps only if they are killed by infected. Doh, beat me to it Yiddus XD

Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Now you and your clan have a new objective. Protect the assets you hold so dear. This is part and parcel of survival. Before this was even implemented me and my clan would hide our camps within map borders and actively try to protect and defend said camp. I find this a lot of fun and adds so much to the gaming experience and immersion. You must have such a boring game hording all your gear in a location where there is absolutely no threat. There might as well be locks on tents and vehicles and players are unable to be looted. I'm yawning just thinking about it. Oh well, it has been implemented now and IMHO it's for the better. This means players will now have to actively camp within the gaming borders instead of cowardly hiding with all their cookies out in the middle of nowhere. GJ Dev team, another step in the right direction! -

Love this idea. It's clearly apparent that the only people opposed to this awesome suggestion are the people who partake in this game breaking activity. Rocket, implement this for testing asap! -
Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
you are clearly not meant to camp off the map. the map has a border for a reason. thats common sense now' date=' isn't it? so, building a camp of the map can be considered breaking a rule, like cheating. you can consider yourself lucky you won't be banned for it. or maybe you will o.O [/quote'] That is not a cheat at all as you don't fkin manipulate the game. What's wrong with you? Hacking, cheating, duping...its some fkin storage. Maybe it is breaking a virtual rule, I'll give you that. But it isn't a real border, is it? And what reason would that be? Maybe it is off-map now in some narrow minded persons view, but what would be the reasons to not make it "legit"? But I guess the righteous people win, who are knowing how this game is meant to be played... Sorry Kawa, but you're an idiot if you cannot see the benefits to game play as a whole by restricting these activities outside the map bounds. You're also an idiot if you think saving tents/vehicles outside of map bounds is a legit way to play the game. By your definition, if I'm playing a game of football, it's ok for me you take the ball and hide it in the parking lot. -

Finally a Realistic way to solve the shoot on sight!
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I quite like this idea. It's not going to solve the issue of cherno campers but it's a nice addition. Lets face it, people in the real world do generally dress a certain way to confirm with their peers. This would totally make sense. People will most certainly complain about players being limited to certain outfits depending on their actions but I kinda like this. It gives everyone a goal to attain and show their moral and social standing which is something that is lacking at the minute. I like the idea that with this idea us players can say, I want to be perceived this way within the world. So I need to act this particular way to achieve this visual presence. High humanity could be calculated from days without killing other players. -

New Server Signup and Ticket System
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com replied to shawnbayer75's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Ok so submitted a server request to be told we need a faster up and down speed. 100mbps up and down 100mbps to be precise. So we shut down our other hosting servers to free up net speed and resubmit the ticket to be told. How they come to this conclusion is beyond me, have been hosting different video games for the past 20 years. Can now see why so many private servers are sprouting up. -
Abandoned trucks, ambulances and military supply vehicles.
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I've made this suggestion a few times within other threads but I felt I should add it to its own. Much like heli crash sites I always thought abandoned grocery vehicles with tinned food and drink, ambulances with a few medical supplies, blood bags, morphine and the like and military supply vehicles with rare munitions for bizon and fal among other things, would be a nice addition. Very rare probability of these appearing just like the downed choppers randomly dotted around the map. Again like the choppers surrounded by zombies. I have to say I love the idea of stumbling across items this way. It adds a real element of excitement. We all know the feeling of finding a downed chopper. Its like being a kid on Christmas eve again.
