I'd also like to add that robbing someone may be a death sentence for some. You taking their last tin of beans while they are starving then letting them go is as good as pulling the trigger. -

I'd call that role playing. If there were less bandits in the world the victims wouldn't of had a reason to shoot back. Again, simple cause and effect. You have created this world by your actions, you don't like the consequence of your actions but now you have to live with it. -

I can see that role playing is something that you're trying to achieve in these scenarios, you want to be the highwayman, but who in their right mind is going to comply with robbery? I mean really? Especially if you're both holding guns. You've only got to look through youtube videos to see how most gun on gun robberies end, usually someone getting shot. We are wired with the fight or flight response, we either stand and fight or run for safety, either way the bandits going to shoot and would probably still shoot if you would make the unusual choice of surrendering Blaming the victim for defending themselves and the cause of shoot on sight is just ridiculous. If there wasn't anyone trying to rob someone else or pointing guns and threatening to kill there would be a lot less shootings. " Cause and effect refers to the philosophical concept of causality. Causality is the relationship between an event (the cause) and a second event (the effect), where the second event is understood as a consequence of the first " You're merely blaming the consequence, the effect ( the victim shooting back ) instead of the cause ( the bandit pointing a gun at the victim threatening to kill them ). -

If you ever run into [sQUAD] clan I can pretty much guarantee they will alt out or run to lobby if you get the jump on them. Probably the single most cowardly clan in DayZ, not to mention they all seem to have ghillies and m107s every time I run into them. Usually on EU40, not sure if they have been banned, haven't seen them on for a while. Other than that clan in particular I've been pretty lucky. Most of my confrontations have been up against worthy opponents with some balls to stand and fight. -

There needs to be more threads like this. Nothing like some good old fashioned role playing to get the immersion going. For those who say " don't take this game so seriously" You're the type of player communities like this can do without. Role playing is the foundation of games like this and exactly what Rocket is after in a community. Usually the people who say " don't take this game so seriously" are the same people who play BF3 and get killed for the nth time, rage quit and smash their keyboard up in tears. More player conceived scenarios like this is just what this game needs. -

Not sure where this idea that as owners we aren't allowed to kick players to free up a slot for ourselves. This thread it titled "Kicking of players for clan members" and the thread states clan members and people who donate. It does not say we can not kick players to get into our own server. That would be just ridiculous. If I need to check my server is running properly or to administrate it I'm going to kick someone to free up a space so I can get in ( not that I've had to ). It would be ludicrous to deny server owners that privilege. -

I don't think the boring slow zombie is what the Romero fans want either. We just don't want these uber fast unauthentic sprinty zig zaggy ones. The zeds need more balancing and the character speed definitely needs some sort of stamina mechanic. I play this game because it's authentic and immersive. The current state of the zombies ( and I will continue to call them zombies while the mod is called Day"Z" ) they are't either authentic or immersive. They are just a super fast obstacle with no real personality or character. A mix of slow, medium and fast zombies would be a good compromise. Optimization really needs to be put into increased zombie numbers rather than player numbers with the current size of the map. In a zombie apocalypse you should feel alone most of the time and not bumping into people every other minute as if you were in a super market. I avoid these super large full servers because it just becomes deathmatch with zombies stuck on the side. The world should feel like a place full of zombies with a few pockets of survivors instead of a place full of players with a few pockets of zombies. Fact is, zombie speeds at the minute simply aren't cut out for this game engine, they are way too glitchy and quite frankly look stupid IMHO. I'm sure there's a reason behind why they haven't been worked on yet and that's due to net code optimizing among other things. But I truly hope the devs take on board these suggestions as it seems there are a large portion of the community here that would like to see this at least tested. -

They are common all around the world, we just don't call them "baseball" bats. Americans aren't the only country in the world to have bat and ball games. http://en.wikipedia....-and-ball_games I think in an interview somewhere Dean Hall mentioned something about bats being added.

After some more playing in different servers I can say this build is very nice. I think the few servers I did jump in prior to my current one were bugged or something as the zeds weren't acting right. Either too slow, too stupid or one hit bleeders. Still wish for some slower hard zeds, but one can always dream. Absolutely zero desyncs so far. Loading times are fast and the game is running a lot smoother all round compared to previous patches. Top job sir Rocket and Co. -

Yeah, well now I've joined another server and the zombies are bleeding from nearly every hit. But I can still run right up to them from behind (1m) without them hearing me. Also still pretty easy to lose. -

Zombies are way too easy to lose. Walk around a blade of grass and you've lost them. I think it's time to slow zombies, give them high senses like in 1.7.1.5 and give the player stamina so they tire after running. As suggested and discussed at length here and here. Please consider this alternative and give it a test. -

Sitting here thinking about a mechanic that naturally suits the environment and game. How about this. All servers start with shambling walking zombies with a few fast ones mixed in. If a player gets killed their body has a random chance at a random time to rise as a zombie, but a fast one. This means areas of heavy conflict would be filled with fast zombies. Killing would have some detrimental effect on the gaming environment. As the priest says in Dawn of the Dead. " When the dead walk, señores, we must stop the killing... or lose the war." This would also make some players think twice about killing others, especially people who have a regular server they play in. Keeping fast zombie numbers down is a benefit to them so killing on sight is a less attractive option. -

I would like to suggest a color change to the hud to something a little easier to see. Green, I mean really? I've never understood why BiS chose a green hud color in a game where most of the environment is predominantly green. Blue,Orange,Red, White or even Purple would be better. But please consider a hud color change. In some lighting conditions the hud simply disappears. Thanks.

There are many mods I wish DayZ supported, but it's understandable why they aren't at the minute seeing as it's an Alpha. Perhaps down the road these will be opened up and allowed. HARCP and LANDTEX are 2 mods I would love to see supported.

I guess this really depends on whether you're in it for PVP or for pure survival. I prefer the survival aspect so I love the M1911 and my good old Remmy. For PVP, AS50 and a Mk 48 ( both of which should be removed from the mod ) XD -

Incompetence would suggest you're not doing what you've set out to do and not fixing issues that have arose. None of these are true. You're testing a game to the best of your abilities and fixing any mistakes made. An incompetent person would have done neither. Don't sell yourself short. You're doing a damn fine job considering the circumstances. I just wish I could do more to help. I feel incompetent as a tester.
