Base building rebalance | Comprehensive list of suggestions
clipartcat replied to Asmondian's topic in Suggestions
I guess this tread pretty much sums up how much DayZ development team cares about their players. Somebody does a detailed post on how the game could be improved, and they don't even bother to look and reply 😄 -
I think night is good, but currently it is just impossible to even try to navigate. For example currently you are not even able to see the tree line or even shadows of the buildings from distance. This basically makes navigating during the night pretty much impossible.

Incredibly buggy. I made a fire and now I have fireplace in vicinity that follows me to everywhere.. Can't take items into hands.. tried to take something from my backpack and put it into ground because you can't put it into hands. Takes ages. Can't put it back to backpack, except after waiting for almost a minute. Ended up taking backpack off, which I found has gotten ruined. Can't put it back to back to back (can't you wear ruined backpack, which I just took off my back?). Still that fireplace that follows me to everywhere. Btw. this is a second server I tried. This into stable branch? Ok. When is this gonna work, when you have "re-written" engine, network code and whatever? These same things still happen from year to year. Sorry for being annoyed, but this is just unbearable to play. For me it doesn't seem really few bugs to squish "before beta", when basic things does not work. edit: Forgot teleporting zombies that appear through tents and this new meelee system, which btw. is just as laggy as the old one. Just different animations. I am sorry to feel this way. I really wish I could say, wow guys you finally did it! It's working great.

How do you see that the new night-time is working? For me it seems that players play currently mostly where there is not dark. Meaning that people leave stable servers to experimental servers and vice versa immediately when it starts to get dark. I personally think that the new night is not working very well as it is major pain in the ass to navigate anywhere without using roads during the night. There is really no equipment that will help in this as flashlight is totally useless in the middle of field and you can't even see a tree line. In real life for example the moon gives much more light and you are able to for example navigate. This is worse than in Finland during December when there is no snow, which obviously is totally different than conditions in the game world would be. Considering at what meridian Chernarus is supposed to be located at.

"That's the sun in my hands, man! Oh, it gives off an orange cloud of light that just flows right out over the sea! Wow!"

I felt the same as I live in Northen Europe. But I figured out, maybe they have a little more exotic birds in Czech.. who knows. Even those dominating crickets sound a little too Mediterranean for me.

@Baty Alquawen what is the plan with the sound, could you please comment on that? Now after playing a little bit more new sounds are to be fair a disappointment. Like someone said, they are just basically stereo tracks playing over and over again. None of the new sounds dominating the soundscape are positional and in the end they feel just like ASMR stereo track (which might trick people thinking they are nice at first). And when you have this stereo track of wind, crickets, owls, birds etc. you just don't end up feeling being there, as the sounds are not positionally placed into the game world. Especially when the same soundtrack keeps playing endlessly, even when walking inside houses. So is the plan to make all of these sounds positional?

Some comments after playing for an hour or so I think new sounds are good, but they need more diversity. Currently they are most of the time too loud and game feels like ASMR walking simulator. FPS is not as good as it used to be. I go from 90-110FPS to 60-75FPS in nature. People commenting here about FPS, please do look real numbers not just your gut feeling. You might not notice it always so easily, if you got from around 100FPS to 65FPS. While nature is great, this is also a huge change in game mechanics. There is two major things with trees, which people have been (ab)using. It would be nice if development team actually indicates that they have understood how it will change the game, when they make changes this big. a) People hide into spruces when logging off. This is not currently possible. b) People hide their stashes like barrels and boxes into trees. This is not currently possible.

Could you add woodpeckers too now that there is owls? Also it would be cool if you could actually locate these birds and "retire" them and stop them making noise.. and stuff them and put on the end of your stick.

Are servers currently disconnecting for all of you or is it just me?

Too bad they didn't figure out to work with the engine first then? -

Yes being good in this game includes knowing the bus is unable to drive in the roads, where there is bus stops. I think that "I know how to avoid bugs" pretty much sums it. -

Best game ever! Must have been since the release. "First we make engine, then we make the game" - Leonard Cohen -

If the goal is bad usability and to annoy people. Then yes. -

Hahaha. I logged back and I had now my SVD missing and instead my Scorpion was on my back. I have two times 2x4 times space in inventory, so I shouldn't have accidentally put my Scorpion on back and dropped my SVD. This "double carry" system is just bad design and I can't figure out how "creative director" Hicks hasn't been able to come up with a better solution during all of these years. Maybe they put engine first and then start trying to make it usable. Just plain lolz. Keep up good work and stay positive!!
