if people are able to perform agressive actions without a gun, you'd need to be able to knock peole out and give them handcuffs, or else it would be shoot on sight only, unless it's within your TS channel i honestly don't think melee without any weapon should suffice against zombies though, they are stronger, faster, and bite

harsh weather is allready kind of done in namalsk, being the extreme cold maybe the further you are going north, the colder it gets? floods around the coastline would be a huge pain in he butt though, imagine you get respawned in the water just to die again in an instant... also weather that makes you unable to do anything other than staying indoors is just a reason to switch servers, just like nighttime is for some people

maybe having the knife as a secondary just like the hatchet right now? less damage, but a headshot can kill anything with one hit at all times i'd see no problem in that knocking people out like in Takistan Life Revolution Mod would be cool, too first knock them out, then slit their throat, viola! we have a melee combat system also ffs make the guns actual guns, i dont think people could take 8 shots even from a makarov like the champs from dayz can, damn you arma weapons update!

sounds great, you could pack a car full of jerry cans to the small electricity buldings outside of cherno for example, and that would make power available for the towns around it, now you only need a few packs of light bulbs and fuses, and you're good to go maybe there should be a motivation to do it, for example zombies not being able to spawn directly in the town anymore, but spawning a few hundred meters outside of it slowly walking to the town, giving you a zombie-invasion feeling and shit to do other than shooting other players ;) i'd try to get mishkino going with electricity and build my small society of "mishkino misfits"^^

I guess i would still prefer any gun to the crossbow yeah it's silent, can kill zombies from range and looks cool, but it takes too long to shoot, zombies are respawning way faster than you can kill them, and against players you need to land 2-3 shots to kill them, and that take about 10 seconds if you hit every time

So, what i experienced in my few weeks of dayZ is that, with good gear, theres not much you can do, -everything has been explored allready (dayZ db map) -you can survive way too easy on water source + animals -zombies aren't hard enough/dont provide any more you'd want -there is basically no end game except for pvping without reason what i'd like to have is a new way of danger like aggresive animals like packs of wolfes/bears or other stuff since it's a zombie apocalypse, the virus could mutate animals in a way too, so maybe mutants would be an option i collected a few ideas and maybe will make a poll on it with this post 1)radiation: it would be awesome imo to have some sort of radiation filled zones with warning signs of radiaton around, survival would require a very rare geiger counter to survive, since radiation pockets can wander around and you wouldn't notice being in one until you lie on the floor coughing blood maybe even getting contamined through it, passing on the radiation to people near you, maybe even getting irradiated when picking up your bodys items since the radiation zones would kill you and probably your friends without a sign of it before its too late, it would be very dangerous and has no cure these zones could have stuff like radiation protected bunkers with extreme good loot, providing also a very safe place to camp at radiation would provide: -moving pockets of radiation inside a zone -> dayz db map couldn't map them entirely, new exploration elements -more dangerous environments, place the radiation zones in much travelled areas for example and all around the map borders, maybe even some radiation pockets being completely random 2)aggresive animals besides having one or two zombies wandering off into the woods sometimes, the real danger in the wild would be something like bears or a pack of wild dogs/wolfes, maybe even mutated animals (i know this sounds like a stalker reference, but the atmosphere of the game was just too damn good) since animals are way faster than humans, they could even damage you while running, forcing you to stop and shoot them as the only viable tactic they are also smarter than zombies, maybe they can try to surround you, having movement patterns like the rabbit (damn hard to hit) or destroy some tents -more random encounters, erasing the feeling of complete safety in the woods -a new kind of reacting to npcs besides running into a building and using an axe tl:dr -more dangerous enviroment to make the game challenging outside of pvp'ing -more diversity in npc enemies -denser atmosphere of an apocalypse and survival horror please post replys, else this will get lost in the suggestion forum

technically zombies are just that, just that they dont have mutations you can see show me a human that can still walk around without breathing eating sleeping or a functioning blood cycle or if you stick to the infection rage thingy, how can a human have a disease that agressive and damaging and walk around for more than one or two hours? zombies are mutants, if eating infectious flesh doesnt affect animals at all, that wouldnt make that lots of sense either now would it? edit: why did people start to post here again? it's been some days since i posted this, and i think the thoughts about the standalone have pretty much all been accounted for also to the people thinking mutants and bunkers would be a bad idea: i bet there are a ton of people thinking the map namalsk is great, and fits into dayz quite nicely mixing stalker and dayz seems to be not that bad after all, and all those changes can be made map-side without changing the entire game as it is

if they catch you off guard so long that they come close enough to talk to you, they sure could've killed you by the time they started talking usually the guys making you drop your weapon don't kill you, they just want a safe getaway or get to know the people they are playing with i actually never have been robbed, either killed someone or both were friendly and nothing happened, since when you want stuff, killing the people is way safer than talking to them in the first place -
New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult

So to sum it up OP, everything making this game harder: bad everything making the game easier: good what the actual f*ck is wrong with you? why are you even playing DayZ to start with? I think it's just natural that a car isn't the safe-haven for any dumb-ass that gets one, let alone a bicycle giving you complete immunity to zombie hits before the patch was ridiculous Zombies not spawning when in a vehicle is what i consider a bug, because zombies should appear like they are "there" wether you are there or not, just because it's not realiseable to have zombies in every town at every time doesn't mean it was intetional at all to protect you from spawning zombies when in a car I really like the new changes and ESPECIALLY the reduction of ammo found it's just brilliant to be there when somebody spams bullets in your general direction resulting in him having no ammo and a full mob of zombies chasing him And regarding the zombie detection: It's actually working like intended just like any animal that isn't that bright, zombies react to fast and loud noises and to movement if you wear a ghillie or not is completely unimportant, as long as you are moving while being crouched in an open field the will see you, and the should see you just because your ghillie suit doesn't give you zombie protection (which it actually does to a part, npcs have a harder time to spot ghillies since the zombies are normal npcs, and arma takes this into consideration, rocket just altered the numbers a bit) this just means more survivability for tjhe people not engaging and not running around like jerks on an open field in the midst of zombies -
So, came to think of it, let's buff the enfield again and have them AS50/M107/L85 snipers on Droby hill and Cherno silos fear it again, whaddaya say? Enfield one-hit, or not? or maybe buff all damage again? VOTE!

At the moment, zombies can swim, which is REALLY bugged They cant properly track paths in the water, when you go on a peer, they cant track you, and if its a wooden peer they can swim beneath, they hit you through it When the player goes into the water, he starts swimming very late, and cant stop swimming until he is washed onto the shore like a seal... which gives zombies a huge advantage over players in water (since also your visibility and hearability somehow go to 5) Also, getting zombies off from you by walking into water seemed balanced to me when at the beach at start And to get some reason into this: Zombies have some kind of disease similar to rabid, now, when animals or humans get rabid, they very often get an intense fear of water and feel bad when drinking or even looking at it also, swimming is not an instinctive behavior for a human when grown up, and i see the zombies making swimming movements like a normal human in perfect sportsmanship

Well that said, you'd need an engineers degree to get those damn thing repaired also, also for cars you'd have the need to understand the engine etc. And to get a rifle to work, you have more to do then just pick it up and hold down the trigger... I guess it would be okay to make them a little harder to fly, and way harder to reapir, but not like in the highest difficulty of ToH, thats way to harsh Just keep the game playable and hard at the same time, and dont forget about the zombies

I bought Arma2:Combined Ops just for Dayz, but later i discovered that really good mods are done for the game, like Takistan Life Never found people to play the game as it is however, I'd love to go through a real user-made mission with a group The game definitely is good itself, and it's one of the best mod-able there seems to be, having a potential for giant maps and realistic gunplay -
You may want to start the game using "-cpuCount=8" and "-exThreads=7"

Just my opin-onion zeds are needed to take care of players being too well equipped and having nothing better to do than shooting other players, with zeds being able to talk to each other, sneaking becomes an option well chosen again Imagine cherno and elektro hill snipers being chased by ALL of the zombes of the town, and not being able to log out because of zombie aggro Also guns with smaller and less noisy rounds will be way more powerfull against zombies this way (M249 for example, or Bizon SD) With the new update on DayZ Taviana (DayZLand version) the zombies had about 20000 health, which i hope will be in 1.7.5 as well -
Taviana Oil Platforms and Vehicles

Well its the server setting which is wrong then, the server has a wrong country size in it if you have the size of chernarus saved and play on a map 2 times bigger, of course the game will think the oil platforms are out of the map just tell the server admin to adjust the settings -

Didn't play it myself, but i think mixing Stalker and DayZ isn' that good of an idea, I like the environment getting harder and surviving more challenging, but it doesn't quite fit forcing players who behave right to move into buildings (Blowouts) is harsh for snipers, but i guess Bloodsuckers are just harder zombies and would be ok I love stalker, and i love DayZ and Namalsk with it's Stalker references, but it doesn't fit into the DayZ story and destroys the zombie apocalypse feeling -
Well, if the admin is abusing his powers, just get off the damn server and search for a decent one where admins actually use their powers to identify hackers and ban them either you're a hacker or a troll, admins without power makes the server hacker bait bad admin? your fault, get on another server I'm not a full admin, but i am a friend of one and can ban people from the server and see who is a hacker with this live map for taviana, it would be a HELL of a lot easier to find hackers and ban them just because admins CAN abuse their powers, doesn't mean they DO automatically... It's either admins with powers, or hackers, your choice people

The way the dots are implemented at the time is simply stupid, you can see helicopters from hundrets of meters away even if the are hidden behind dense trees and bushes I am though a fan of the third person view and the dots oif they were implemented right, such as only showing something that is moving and out of your screen, and big/close enough to detect A rabbit giving a detection dot three times bigger than the actual rabbit... yeah... -
Just found a weird Easteregg in Bilgrad Na Moru on Taviana, there is a Baseball on the crossing at 054 167 When you shoot at it or hit it with your Hatchet, it will appear crossing after crossing in the city, where you can shoot it again and it disappears, until i couldn't find it anymore Does anyone know what it does/if it's on Taviana from the beginning?

well, the ball is first only at one crossroad, after you shot it, it appears at thte next crossroad in the town etc. when i couldn't find the baseball in that city anymore, i actually found it in another city, Mitrovice i really have no idea how big this easteregg is, and if its covering all cities or just those two, but i sure saw it and want to know what happens when you find alle the baseballs^^
