play the mod for the sake of devs concentrating on the important things (debugging) before implementing complex stuff that bugs around everytime they make a patch (loot spawn system) if you dont want to play an unfinished version... don't

I love playing on night servers to gear up also the gamma+brightness settings make it day anyways, which is a shame (i'd love to be forced using a flashlight in nighttime)

Yeah, as if there wasn't more PvP on Lingor and Namalsk, less PvP on Taviana (without origins mind you) and moderate levels on chernarus... There are many things factorgin the behavior of people, also how often people meet etc. including: -Percentage of enterable buildings -Size of Citys -Size of the Map -Number of Military spawns (too many and too few are both encouraging excessive pvp) -Size of forrests and big fields without cover please, if you don't know what you're talking about, just don't say anything -

I would love to know the borders of mapsizes in dayz, i once thought chernarus was allready taking it to the max, but there are maps 8 times and even bigger than that if we only could get some servers capable of handling more than 60 players, maybe around a hundred, huge maps would be very much fun and give players more room to navigate without meeting the same people over and over again, which might push back KoS because you know a person (i hate playertag servers anyway, so for me not that much of a problem) i am not a very good mapmaker for small games like counterctrike: source, and i guess i dont even have to try on arma, since the map wouldn't be very populr anyway, yet the maps i know of just don't quite get the right atmosphere thirsk was very fun, also lingor was pretty good (too much military spawns though) and taviana, even if praised by so many people, is stretched to thin, and Celle had the best woods kind of missing the point right now, but i guess for a good gameplay and changing encounters, more players and bigger maps on a single server would be very helpfull -

this ancient statment of "getting KoS is only happening noobs" is the dumbest statement of them all hostile people are counting on other friendly players being vulnerable, no matter how you trust someone, little or nothing, they WILL have the edge on you sooner or later say you force someone to drop their gun: they do that, and you run around with him for about half an hour, you check some loot, and immediately have a hatchet in your back, just because the guy wanted your sweet dmr you can't take them all hostage, and never for a bigger period of time, and people most of the time just run away or try to shoot you if you tell them to drop their gun, which forces you to kill them more things needing multiple people to pull them off will just end in a bloody clan system like origins has at the moment, some people are friendly to you (your clan), but everyone else is just shot on sight, by everyone, because enemy clans begin to form and are just focused in playing against each other -

I haven't read the whole thread, but i did come to think about this often oh, you died? we will just save your gear and you will be the exact same person again! Life has no value, gear has, so what if we make the value of life higher than the value of gear? People would still either kill on sight, or just hide away if they dont have the needs to kill someone, just because the other person COULD potentially kill you, for whatever reason (and you all know there are douchebags out there who just want to damage others just for the heck of it) increasing lifes value wont help, it needs to be changed how easy people can kill other people: -Making all weapons you can find close-ranged at first, no actual guns or very few of them in the starting areas (makarov for example, if you are lucky a double barrel shotgun) -Make long-range and high-powered guns extremely rare (includng enfield) -Making Ammo EXTREMELY hard to find, leaving most people with melee weaponry and thinking about every single bullet they shoot -running without a weapon equiped is faster than without a weapon, which makes people able to flee from other players not having a gun -also, make zombies able to hit you while running, yet you could run them out the first few seconds without a weapon equipped -zombies need to be MUCH more aggressive to gunshot sounds these are very extreme changes, yet it may stop people from just risking everything without thinking, there need to be other things to do other than killing players and collecting gear along with them you could also reduce the things players drop on death, yet that would be unrealistic, and not fun in the long run, not a big fan of that idea -

There was a time where the Bandit Skin was removed, and the majority of people didn't like it at all The thing is that, in this game, everyone looks the god-damn same from 10 meters away, and you can't tell if the person is the one who killed you on sight 10 minutes ago or if he is just a guy looking for loot, and without revealing yourself there is no other way to identify someone other than a completely different skin. In real life, you can identify a person from about 20-40 meters away, even if you only see their back, the Bandit and Hero skins are there to make the game a little more than endless random encounters which all get you killed over and over until you just kill people for no reason at all In the standalone, you ca find a lot of clothing, which makes a person look very different from other persons, and by seeing their color scheme/the sort of clothes they have, there is a factor making them identifiable for you -

You will need a Toolbox to see what is broken and to fix it, look for a Blue-and-Yellow Box in industrial Spawns -
Rust looks far too gamey for me, i love the in-depth bullet and sniping mechanics of arma and therefor will buy DayZ Standalone, All-in-All Rust is more like a Minecraft MMO than a paranoia inducing Zombie Survival MMO Some thing from DayZ Standalone really make me want to play it right now, such as -90% enterable buildings -a lot of weapons -custom maps that can exceed 400 km² (since its arma 2 based) until now, everything else in the net looks like a cheap rip-off even compared to the FREE mod we are playing atm

i actually like not being in TS, makes the immersion much better unless you say that your character has a radio/phone to use for communications however someone having a PDW and killing his own teammate because of a hatchetguy is just ridiculous^^

Will DayZ be overshadowed by next-gen consoles at E3?

I think DayZ will be a little overshadowed by the PS4, and the XBOX one for the hardcore xbox fans only, but i don't think that it is particularly bad if CoD players won't get the chance to play the DayZ standalone, if you know what i mean I like the thinned-out community as it is now, the real fans of dayz that didn't come with the dayz hype are way more fun to play with than the hipsters Not that i wouldn't wish Rocket to make some money, if i had the money i would pay 1000€ for the standalone just to give the devs a positive feedback -

You are forgetting that not everyone has the latest PCs, grass can eat a LOT of performance, just like shadows reducing the resolution for people with worse computers is a joke, not every performance issue can be countered by decreasing the resolution, as dayz is often CPU bottlenecked and sahdows or grass details/render distance have a big cpu usage, just like tree details also the "deleting trees and grass" entirely is a hack, and not related to quality settings, so dont mix that up -
i did this at the lake next to the chopper spawn east of chernarus, as soon as someone entered the chopper, i stood up and gave them a headshot after a while i got bored, but i got 5-6 people all of the same clan before they figured out what was going on^^

CoD graphics are more "shiny", some people think that means "better", yet ARMA 2 is set to max realism, which is why the game may look "ugly" to some people i find arma 2s graphics very good when at high settings, yet because of my PC i need to play on low to very low your friend and you should agree on that arma 2 has a completely different focus then CoD, also CoD can't handle maps bigger than a 20th of the smallest arma 2 maps -

this always made me have a bad feeling about all this "helicopter" stuff actually you would need to find a kerosene ank at the NWAF Balota or NEAF to refuel them, yet your average russian 50 people town has a tank full of kerosene in the backyard... :rolleyes: refueling near cherno... bad idea better try 052 098, its a very small town on the top of a hill, land the chopper right next to the tank and zombies aren't a problem anyway -
Sniper Rifles will never be balanced, even if they need 3 shots to kill a person, just because you are most of the time out of range to counter-act I would miss the M107, but the AS50 is just too much power for a survival game, one shotting with a potential 10 ound semi-auto clip? I would love to see more weapons for mid to close-range combat in the standalone, like shotguns and hunting rifles, military grade weapons should be extremely rare, like "once in a week find" rare Most of the normal apocalypse "survivors" wouldn't know how to operate an AS50 anyway, its way more complex than a M107 which is a simple bolt-action, if you ever find an AS50, it would probably be not ready-to-fire The less ranged engagements there are available the better, it makes killing people too unpersonal and too easy

Active admins and the right map namalsk or chernarus are very popular, or even taviana many admins overdo it with custom npcs or additional loot buildings so that getting military weapons becomes far too easy, this can hurt the server

yeah, most of the time it's the older ages that wait for you to turn their back before shooting you a head-on shootout i can live with, but crying "friendly friendly" like a little b'tch and then shooting you in the head with a makarov... then again, you can provoke them to shoot at you by telling them to put their gun away most of the time
