    even longer server hop penalty? people do realise that there are other reasons to leave a server right? for example the server lagging like f*cking crazy i would love to see a server performance tab on the server browser, not just ping and the amount of people then, please Natural Selection 2 has something like that
  3. you forgot that you can always reload a revolver even when you don't have any magazines anymore, while with a pistol you just stand there like an idiot if you missed all your shots... revolver only needs bullets, a speedloader helps, but thats exactly why revolvers are so AWESOME, you're right!

  5. those are all exploits, except for the everyone-dieing-in-60-seconds part, guess that is just a weird circumstance or a real hacker though it doesn't make the problem any smaller... because of player weapons being able to clip through walls, people can shoot through walls by literally sticking their whole barrel through the wall, and you can jump inside most indoor walls by sprintvaulting, like in the prison i hope this gets addressed soon, but i wouldn't get my hopes up if i were you...

    well i myself have quite a number of hours in dayz, and since the last character wipe, my char has not died once, but i did meet two hackers, one using the SKS unlimited ammo cheat, and one flying through the air at NWAF, i was very lucky and didn't get shot, logged out directly when i saw him eidt: the SKS cheater died though, from my Mosin :D

    So yesterday, me and my buddys logged in near the shipwreck north of berezino, and were heading south Suddenly, a barrage of SKS shots were fired from our backs, someone was prone in the grass and allready killed one of my three teammates, i shot the enemy down with my Mosin When i looked at him, he was pointing his gun straight up in the air, the shots he fired had about the firerate of an M4 and were about 40-50 shots without exaggeration Checking the body, he had some drink, some food and an SKS (didn't think of looking at his clip though, sadly) Was this a hacker or is there an SKS glitch i don't know of? i really don't want to run into someone able to shoot 100 SKS shots in under 10 seconds

    well then, guess it's back to the mod for now, really pretty unplayable right now with all the lag, desync and hacking, coming back after the next update to see if anything changed about that i also don't think playing right now helps the devs a great deal so might just as well visit good ol' arma 2 chernarus

    Sinking into the ground - bug?

    This is a feature to simulate grass concealment on distance, since no PC can render grass on 800 meters, this is pretty necessary and actually an awesome mechanic, else you would be WAY to visible when the enemy players grass render distance is over

    Accuracy comparison: DayZ vs ARMA 2

    there should definitely be andom dispersion in the game, and it should be more than in arma 2 the gameplay changes through limiting the range people can shoot at, making it way more probable people will ty to fight in another way than just shooting everyone in a 600 meter radius while being completely safe themselves don't get me wrong, of course you can fire accurately with an m4 or m16 or even AKM on 300 meters, if the gun is set up right, even as an amateur, but it would not be the best gameplay-wise if people could just snipe from hill to hill on chernarus giving people too powerfull weapons results in a less survivaly gameplay experience, imgaine you could fix a tank in dayz standalone, or get an apache to work... EDIT: a very f*cking cool thing to add would be if every weapon would be slightly mis-aligned with its sight from picking it up (safe for the shotguns of course) shooting slightly too far to any direction you could compensate that with skill, and a guy just picking up a gun would be in a disadvantage against someone running around with it for days, and maybe they even could add that you can adjust your gun with scrwwdrivers or something else (weapon repair kits anyone?)

The sprinting speed is about 1.5 times faster than the normal speed of an arma 2 character, aproxximately when dirivng with an old hatchbag in arma 2 above grass with 20 km/h, a player could run past you so yeah, we are talking 30km/h or about 9 m/s which is about normal sprinting speed with unlimited stamina and a whole lot of stuff you are carrying i hope this gets changed later when vehicles are added, or else they would not be worth the effort repairing them

    so what happens if i swim away from land?

    how did your friend even swim out this far? in arma 2 there were no invis walls, so i doubt they are in standalone, and it is not possible to swim further than one or two kilometers before starving or dieing of thirst, and the map in arma 2 was able to be travelled out to about 16 kilometers from the shore to the south, i doubt your "friend" swam that far maybe he didnt see the land anymore and thought he wouldnt be moving, because of having no point of orentation the map stops scrolling after a while, but you still keep moving

    swimming far to the southwest, you will come to a small island where you can park a chopper wich will be spawning somewhere else on server reset... :D well, if there were any vehicles in the game as of yet but yes, you will die because: with the swimming speed and the current system, you won't be able to reach the edge of the map before starving the map is about 4 times bigger than the "playable" chernarus where loot is, and beyond that there is only debug area where you can not go or fall below the surface and eventualy die from hitting the bottom of the engine, but before you could get there, you would die of starvation or dehydration

    the logout system right now is okay, but there needs to be a clear sign that someone is logging out while doing a robbery a few days ago, i held up a player, and he was surrendering, but at the same time logging off when i reached him and was browsing his inventory, he was suddenly gone you shouldn't be able to log off while you are surrendering, or at least become "unconcious" when doing so, indicating to everyone else that you are in the logging-out-process if robbery is not a good option to get loot, people will instead just KoS, which is very unrelistic and counter-productive for both sides, since loot is getting ruined and people lose the interest to talk to other players

    it is allready in the arma 2 engine, the AS50 scope for example has a two-step zoom, (6x and 12x i think)

The problem with dayz sounds right now is that, when a sound started playing behind you, and you turn around, the sound still appears to be playing behind you until it is over playing i hope this gets fixed, since in arma 2 dayz this was not the case edit: sound is REALLY important in these realistical military shooters, but it's one of the most buggy things right now in the game you guys know what i mean, random hearing zombies sound pieces, or eating/drinking/stacking ammo really annoying right now SA is worse than the mod functionality-wise

    zombies need to be respawning, or realistically many of them not respawning (like 500 in cherno or Berezino, about 5000-6000 on the whole map) they of course need to be faster than a sprinting human, or else they won't pose any threat whatsoever (see dayZ Mod, zombies were a joke) right now they are ok-ish, dangerous to idiots, and easy to kill for people who know how to handle them maybe they need to have more hp though, a firefighter-axe right now makes zombies way to easy

    Is it just me or is the SKS horribly unprecise? targets beyond 300 meters seem impossible to hit, it's spraying left and right almost a whole meter... i read that the sks would be better than the Mosin for targets up to 300 meter, since it's almost as accurate, a 1-shot kill and spammable, but i really don't think so... pristine black SKS and pristine PSU scope btw Right now struggling to find a new Mosin or Blaze...

    if i set my scenecomplexity to a very high value (double the standart or something) can i then see through windows on long range better? even if i set my object quality to very high, far away things are very edgy and blink a lot, they just look bugged
  23. so you want to tell me that someone getting a running start at you without you noticing and punches you on the back of your head, you wont get unconscious? please only answer if you were in a real fight before even when someone does punch from the front at the right spot (for example right on your heart) you can get knocked out instantly, maybe even die punching someone in the throat is something very nasty as well and nothing you want to experience, i assure you that

    do you mean setting it to the windows 7 allocator, which seems to be the fastest of all of them? in that case, it would be simply -malloc=system right? guess i'll have to try that one out

    in the old arma 2 wiki it says that valid values for exThreads are only 1, 3, 5 or 7, which sets a maximum of 3 external threads on ON of OFF 1 = 001 3 = 011 etc., i think most people know bytecode by today for better understanding, look here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma2:_Startup_Parameters#exThreads by this table, setting it to 4 would leave you without file operations in an external thread, which can lead to no peformance boost at all or even errors so, if you have a quadcore even without hyperthreading, i'd recommend you guys to set it to 7
