  1. after two weeks, you stash would be found anyway probably not saying you can't hide something on the map so a normal player wouldn't find it in two weeks, but all it needs is one douchebag script kiddie and thats it... hackers in the mod used to move all tents and cars into one spot (mostly in the middle of cherno) and blow them up

    Finally found a butane canister to plug into my lamp and tried it, the video is currently being encoded from fraps avi to mp4 in order for the youtube upload not to take a year, result range where the lamp was visible was about 250 meters The lamps light however is very bright and big, do not recommend to walk around with that thing O.o video will be up shortly, searching for flashlight and chemlight now... https://youtu.be/eggYJ-6Vusk i made a picture on the dayzdb map where this was, but cant put it into a post

    wow thanks, totally forgot them :D edit: torches don't work either, now it's down to flashlight, chemlight and lantern damn it, playing the whole day to find these damn things and so far only have the gas lamp...

    okay, static light sources do not seem to render at all beyond a few meters, at least not flares and camp fires still need to test this with a chemlight or gas lantern though, or even a flashlight, however finding a flashlight/battery or a chemlight proves difficult, and it seems that butane gas canisters don't spawn at all in the current 0.58 experimental i'm gonna try to make a freshspawn run with his flare in his hand away from me, maybe light sources attached to players behave differently i'm pretty sure i wasn't hallucinating last night, however it WAS 4:00 am in the morning, and there are always weird things happening at night on mountains with a color in their names

    gonna try getting a screenshot or even better a video today, i hope this will work with fireplaces or i will have severe problems recreating it, definitely will try to find a lamp + gas canister, too the distance was definitely above my player render range though, at least above the limit at which the players rendered without a scope, else i would have seen the players with my "normal eye" zoom factor

Hey there, i am thinking about Upgrading my rig for about 500 bucks, either i will get myself an Intel I5 4690, or an AMD FX8350, with appropriate Motherboard and some decently fast RAM the I5 has less points on benchmarking (about a fifth less than the AMD CPU), additionally it costs about 50€ more I wanted to try out if Intel really is better than AMD, since until now i really only bought myself AMD CPUs due to the better "bang for your buck" everyone is telling me however, i also heard that DayZ, due to it being rather unoptimized, just like Planetside 2 (which i play sometimes as well), a better single core performance, namely intel, is better can anyone report from his own experience if Intel really is better for DayZ? thanks in advance
  7. with you on that one, persistence and building stashes is one aspect of being able to interact with people safely in the mod, i had a tent location that never ever got compromised, and it was in the middle of the map in a forresty area, where most people would probably search for tents, also quite close to the south-eastern coast, suprisingly with this back in mind, i always thought to myself when trying to interact with someone ("if he kills you, you still have a stash there, so nothing to bad will happen, and maybe you will even win the fight if it occurs") in the mod however this was pretty redundant at some point because of how trees were rendered and how easy it was to see tents and cars from the air, so there definitely needs something to be done about that, personally on experimentyl, a simple dropped backpack or a few of them was far superior to any tent imo, since it's so well hidden that nobody will ever find it without knowing where to search in the first place, and the relativley big space a backpack offers can't wait for backpack persistence...

    you have a higher chance of getting infected by unclean water when you aren't energized, hydrated and healthy next time if you get killed, try drinking a lot from a pond right after spawning, that normally gives you cholera
  10. sure, for pvp this would be great, but for playability it would be terrible with the amount of random disconnects i get during playing because of server performance, meeting a zombie and then having a disconnect would be a certain death sentence, let alone logging in to a server again would take even longer to prevent the old "loot your own body" duping exploit for now, the mechanics are enough, the game isn't finished yet, and until they seriously clean up how the netcode behaves, desync and random disconnects are bad enough as it is for playability

    i did it rather scenic, i climbed the Tower of Green Mountain, put my gear all around the tower balcony and then left a note saying "It's calling me", then suicided with my pistol it was a day or two before the 0.57 server wipe and i was away for two days, so i don't know if anyone found it
  12. did you ever put as much clothing as you can into a plastic bag, unfolded, and then folded? if the container is designed to hold some type of content very efficiently, like stacking it in just the right way, yes, a container can be more space efficient than throwing the stuff in loose

    well, having a lot of gear, a gun and maybe even an axe strapped on your back, sure, every fall could kill you regarding the people falling from very high places: they hit terminal velocity after about 500 meters i think, and at the time you come in contact with the ground you have a velocity of about 150 kilometers per hour if the ground is soft enough, and you are the luckiest person alive, yes, you can survive that, but it depends mostly on how you land (head = dead, side = dead, feet = borken legs for sure + a lot of internal bleeding in the waist area) back on topic however, the high fall damage is just a remainder of the arma2 engine i guess, there some teeny tiny falls could kill you, or walking up a stair, just make a ticket in the bugtracker and be done with it they fixed rocks killing you some time ago, you can sprint around on them pretty much now and can climb them like a goat
  14. well it used to hold 300 rounds of 5.56 and .22, i don't know why they would nerf it, maybe they buffed the damage the box can take? nerfing the protector cases makes sense, since they have no downside to ammoboxes or medkits, which only can be filed with specific items, but nerfing the ammobox makes no sense to me

    Problems with accuracy on Winchester?

    yup, imagine your character mounts the scope always so, that the scope is zeroed at 400 meters, with the wrong gun (specifically, slower bullet velocity), you won't hit where the scope tells you, except for the one point at 400 meters to compensate, if a target is not very far away, but still not very close (specifically at about 200 meters, where the arc has it's climax), you need to aim lower than with a gun that has higher bullet velocity this is also why the 5.56 rounds are so good for long range engagements, you can hit stuff very easily up to 400 meters and don't need to compensate for bullet drop
  17. mhh interesting, what is your average fps when playing? i suspect frame shenanigans the blaze in double firing mode was always inaccurate for me, yet i am also always playing at 10-40 frames depending on location in dayz, maybe the second shot is coming out of the gun in the next frame, so having a worse fps results in bad groupings?
  18. the double firing mode of the blaze and the IZH never really worked as they really should, the blaze fired the shots very rapidly *in succession* when in relity the two rounds should hit almost the exact same spot, only off by a few centimeters (depending on how big the difference of the two barrels is) same for the izh shotgung, you got the recoil from both shots at the same time, but the second shot fired a little bit later than the first one maybe they removed it on purpose for the time being, being able to shoot two mosin round in quick succession is not to be underestimated in any case

    directly north of cherno apartements was my favorite cherno countersniping spot, west of the big sniping hill in the woods of elektro was my second favorite, with the most kills by far sniping the snipers is to much fun not to do it <3
  20. i always drop my food/drink and gear i dont need in combat in a pine tree before going into a town that way i can go full insane assault on their ass and don't have a bad feeling about dieing combat logging though... if people are camping your position and don't get to you while combat logging, they are cowards, so go on do it, i personally despise of it
  21. erm... the zombies are in a pretty good state imo, they SHOULDN'T be easy to kill without taking damage, go and outsmart them instead, lock them in houses, lose them around a few corners, shoot them with a .22, there is so much you can do... the last thing we need is easier zombies imagine a drugged homeless guy (no offense) would try to strangle you, do you think you could beat him down without him being able to lay a hand on you?

    any discussion about zombie realism is pretty stupid, agreed, no matter how "undead" something is, without breathing, there won't be oxygen travelling to your muscles, no reaction would happen and they would not move at all and be very weak if they do... this is why i always laugh when i see some chopped off head in walking dead trying to bite people xD

    that is allready present? check the controls? i changed my use button to F, my sprint on spacebar, walking to shift, 3pp/1pp to T, toggle raise weapon is on a mous button and weirdly enough i can't get an unknown binding away from my H key (puts item out of hands)
