yup, in germany food would diappear really fast as well, supermarkets get refilled each day, especially bread and meat, you'd possibly look at one week maximum of food if such an event hit, but when you look at how people behave once there will be a long weekend or christmas, the supermarkets get basically plundered xD

Nice addition, maybe you could start a small team to mod DayZ when modding resources and tools will be released, i personally like the "starvation survival" aspects, simply because atm the only threats are the environment and the players, zombies are really easy to deal with because of their limited number (i would offer my free time once this makes it into the community,i am a software developer trainee, but have no experience with the arma map editor) However i think a little different on the matter: DayZ afaik plays a few months after the apocalypse, and regarding the supplies and canned foods in Chernarus, the supermarkets seem unproportionally small for the population who was there, and apartments are to a big part raided and have no TVs, beds or other furniture, which may indicate that Chernarus has been going "downhill" way before the actual apocalypse happened, and without a steady supply of trucks re-stocking supermarkets, food will become scarce fast Also, once the apocalypse hit, i bet there was a major military effort to evacuate Chernarus, looking at how military vehicles and police cars are scattered all around the Region, and these clearly would have taken a LOT of the stashed supplies with them, god knows where they headed, which is also indicated by the lack of military vehicles and equipment at the actual military sites in Chernarus however, this is all just specualation, nothing with a real base to work with, which is also why i am thrilled they will introduce modding the game later on^^ Nice read :) this map is not picturing a real life place, the real place where chernarus was taken from is "usti nad labem, which is also why the first iteration of the chernarus map had no ocean to the south Usti nad Labem For comparing the two: just look at the town Povrly, which very clearly shows the Elektro Sniping Hill Also i guess we would see a lot of wolves and bears, since these wouldn't be kept in check anymore by local hunters, though wolves rarely attack humans, bears are extremely dangerous

the weak are going to be sorted out, and will become what killed them damn, even without zombies this game has an infectious gameplay element
-
why don't you try growing a beard? i heard music makes plants grow faster, so try listening to this here:
-
my, then why dont you do it yourself and just give the finished work to the dev team? it doesn't matter what should be changed, it all takes time and work
-
i guess it is, because you don't see the work that has to be done for "detail", go make an arma 3 map then you can talk about how "easy" it is
-
dude wait on the TrackIR, get an Oculus Rift :D
-
well upload more of your videos man, first rule of film making: "show don't tell" the only videos i could find of you are one year old and it's only 4 of them

TIL that DayZ runs much smoother on Windows 10.
ZomboWTF replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Personally didn't feel a performance increase at all, but maybe that was because my Win 8 was allready optimized by myself to the maximum (unparked cores, Razer GameBooster, Graphics Card Power Savings Mode deactivated etc.) however, Windows10 seems to have a lot of bugs with other games besides DayZ, and i had to fiddle around with Battleye not initializing and installing after switching to Windows 10, so be warned also another warning: do not use the Teamspeak overlay plugin while playing games on Windows 10, i personally almost shredded my ears and headset with that as soon as i started a game there was a loud crackling sound in the headset, folowed by the game crashing (Planetside 2, DayZ, WoT) -
small update: a ghilie renders further out than other clothing, we tesed this on very low detail settings and the ghillie rendered up to 300 meters while the non-ghillie stopped rendering at 250 meters

no message received 1-10 mins into server :(
ZomboWTF replied to littlejames's topic in Troubleshooting
i noticed this yesterday on experimental, getting a "No message received" an hour after logging into the server but i guess in my case it's the constant spamming to join these servers from other users, the servers cracking up, or exp. being a bit buggy as usual -
Will there be more or less weapon related loot in next patch?

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
ZomboWTF replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
yes give them nicknames! and nameshields! but seriously, Vera was a b*tch anyway i heard she was having something going on with Terry at Balota airfield, while Fred was on vacation in H1Z1 -
wait, for him to shoot you in the face, he would have had to carry his weapons in his arms all the tim, right? else you could have reacted when he pulled it out of it's pocket or back never trust strangers with their guns out... thats so basic edit: damnit i was to slow
-
no it isn't, if you are talking about level design, the size of the level clearly has to do something with it the larger the map, the more work needs to be done to make it detailed, you do understand these things don't magically appear out of nowhere right?

indeed

what are you categorizing as "military gear"? green camo? an automatic weapon? because all of that you can find in cherno or elektro itself, including AK-74, green backpack, vests etc. ^^ the only guys that i so far have experienced are always hostile are ghillies and masked people (not gas masks, the payday masks) oh, and groups most of the time, but i have met two or three friendly groups in my days that had the drop on me and did nothing :o

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
ZomboWTF replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
well it worked for me, getting about 10-20 fps in cherno, before that it was way worse -

the parameters you used in the arma games lead to bugs and worse performance, i got about 10 fps in towns by removing them (cpuCount, maxmem, maxvram, exthreads, nosplash etc.) but the game is definitely still unoptimized, someone who doesn't have a top-notch PC will probably not enjoy (though i definitely enjoy it with my 500 € potato bought 4 years ago) -
I certainly can't wait until the new vehicles in 0.59 are in, having a car for you and your fellow survivors to go http://www.gfycat.com/FirmSaneAllensbigearedbat

So, today i saw something i never saw in my few years of playing DayZ Standalone and Mod: Light sources outside of player render range Full Story: I was derping around in the north pretty far north, when i saw a castle and went up the tower, i guess it was Black mountain, but i'm not sure of it Anyway, far in the distant, way outside of player render range, i saw two bright little dots moving, going into houses, disappearing, appearing again etc. i had no scope with me so i couldn't confirm there were players, but what other explanation is there? i guess the devs introduced a mechanic with which you can see far away lightsources at night now, so be wary of that when looking for loot in the dark, or when lighting a campfire, i'll be testing the campfire thing out soon myself the town must've been about 1000 - 1200 meters away, the dots were jumping up and down while moving, looking like they were atatched to the players arms Server was UK 0-6 on experimental 0.58, at around 3:50 GMT, town must have been Gvodzno, the players then moved around the south of the castle in direction of krasnostav Can somebody confirm that or test it?

everyone i see with a gun in his hands is very likely someone i open fire upon without asking or taking any risk, which is also why i am never carrying two primaries
-
i am often switching between Planetside 2 and DayZ, PS2 is a nonstop-PVP-action slaughterparty filled with explosions and is basically a michael bay game after one or two hours i can play DayZ for 6 hours without a problem, actually enjoying the silence and slower paced gameplay
-
Whenever i see someone, i try to confront them in one way or another (talking or attacking, depending on situation and place), but when people notice me first, i still get a slight panic, especially when i'm well geared, even after 4 years of playing DayZ (mod and standalone)
