In my opinion the main reason why DayZ gets boring sometimes is that it doesn't have a progression system. You die and then you start all over again. I suggest adding some kind of progress system or something like permanent perks for getting milestones. Also, this would not be very hard to implement.
Some examples:
killed 1000 zombies = 10% less damage from zombies
drank 1000 times from pond = less chance to get infection
bandaged 100 times = slightly faster bandaging
reloaded 1000 times = slightly faster reloading
killed 100 people = 5% more damage
repaired 10 cars = slightly faster car
died 100 times = 5% more max blood
run 100km = slightly faster movement speed
drank 100/1000 times = thirst increases slightly slower
ate 100/1000 times = hunger increases slightly slower
survived a week with a single character = ?give ideas?
get hyperthermic for * times = slightly more resistand to heat
get hypothermic for * times = slightly more resistant to cold
This would be amazing because then you would actually get rewarded and progress further for playing the game for a very long time.
