Check out Drunken Maniacs, their Epoch Taviana server is great. The server has modular base building; many things are up for discussion as far as buildings becoming permanent/non degrading. Updates are often and the the server admins IRA Skat and IRA seamus are on daily. Server IP 142.54.189.34:2312 There's a teamspeak server as well and they are on it often. ts22.gameservers.com:9107

I've been told that currently any train cart not being the locomotive flails around wildly, striking and killing anything nearby as it's drug along behind the leading cart. Very buggy as of yet.

Streaming New Map Trinity Island

First thing I see is recorder + his buddy standing amongst a compound of barracks, standing next to a heli with its props whirling, just standing there watching zeds walk around 20ft away like nobody's there. For all those guns you guys should be doing something with them. BORING. -
So true haha

A montage of the best dayz axe murderer/funny moments, almost a year worth of gameplay
Shea replied to jsnow's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
that's some funny shit -
This would be a fantastic addition, although, I'd suggest it should only be a position which sidearms could be fired from. (Imagine this stance under a tree, very concealed; no grass blocking vision) I could see people luring a zed to a treeline, getting knocked down like this, and after dispatching the zed switching to primary; if it's a sniper rifle then a far superior stance to snipe from instead of being completely prone. It'd be too good imo, so a limit to firing sidearms only.....?

Question from Gaming magazine: Why is permadeath fascination
Shea replied to Lord_Darkmoon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Permadeath drives encounters of extreme situations, where paranoia drives peoples' decision making to extremes of murder for water or failing the ambush because, after all, who gets to shoot guns often enough to be proficient with them when every gunshot is like ringing a dinner bell. -

Never played DayZ before and needing advice.
Shea replied to papapudding's topic in New Player Discussion
tip: good gear doesn't last long! Consider it already gone, because you will die many times for no apparent reason. Most people die over and over before ever getting to use the shiny military gun in their cold dead hands. The running joke with finding a sniper rifle anywhere is that you'll most likely not have a chance to use it before you die. -
What to do after you have the best gear?
Shea replied to wellwellwell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For a real challenge, of recent I play on the DayZ Mercenary servers. The roaming death squad NPC's with TOP-tier weaponry/gear are a blast....literally... to fight. They're meaner than any player, and have no limit to their ammo it seems. So far I've fought a few squads (I died) and managed to kill only one entirely (6 NPCs) by myself and it was great fun. -
I've got a question to throw into the fray, I once shot to death a bandit across the Novy Lug valley, using the "mil-dots" on an M24; in other words zeroing was maxed out to 800m and I was having to estimate the shot with the hatch-lines. Considering how far away I was, in spite of it being in a wide open area, was this person incapable of even hearing the shots? Estimated distance was 950m.

Im Green... Where do i go? New Player question for first time playing
Shea replied to Ozes's topic in New Player Discussion
Don't stay in cities along the coast for very long, imagine about half the players online are literally hunting you. The PVP is rife, swift and brutal. Try heading inland to smaller towns where you won't be around the PVP spots so much. Going to military locations is generally the most dangerous thing you can do. -
Great work Team Rocket! I fell in love with the picture of the soccer goal posts, it made me wonder how much fun it would be if you could (in a rudimentary way at least) play with a friend? Which leads me to further ask that since you're interested in adding junk loot like empty tin cans, why couldn't "junk loot" also be a soccer ball? A stuffed animal? Or a note left by another player? To what extent will a player be able to interact with a "grab" action on the environment? -Shea Edit: wouldn't it be hilarious to distract zeds with a soccer ball? They'd fall for it right?

New To ARMA and DayZ today. Not very welcoming.
Shea replied to TxJBxT's topic in New Player Discussion
Sorry that's your first experience mate, but you gotta know how to type ingame at least, right? You know about the different channels obviously, there's one for talking to nearby people. The other players just get gripy about talking in side b/c there's a lot of little kid idiots online who make a bunch of racket over side channel. Edit: Rage is right lol. The survivors get killed by the bandits who both get killed by hackers and so the hackers buy more ARMA keys when they get banned. You're gonna die some really lame ways; hopefully not from glitches. Those are the most disheartening. Be careful of ladders, take the stairs! -
Is it okay to abort when a hacker spawns on you?
Shea replied to Mother Phuftbucket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've been alive for 4 days (still going) on this particular DayZ+ server and at least once a day I survive hackers Day1: survived a nuke Day2: hacker took over my body (character) right when I got to the tents in Stary Sobor. I DC'd immediately. Day3: somehow survived a black SUV w/chain gun on the roof. Only because the bastard was too greedy and started shooting at a heli overhead. (luck?) Day3: got teleported with a bunch of other people in front of said black SUV. Managed (idk how) to log out within a second to the sound of bones cracking and minigun shots. Day4: More SUV's with miniguns. -
Favourite background music while on DayZ
Shea replied to philbottle's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't listen to music, I need that extra sense. AKA not worth dying for (ingame) -
Krobar is correct, interestingly enough DayZ is more reliant on your processor capabilities moreso than your video card. My computer has a 3 year old video card but a quad core processor. Would never know the diff b/c the game engine is such that it doesn't utilize the video card as efficiently as other game engines. Hence it demanding more potential from your processor instead. Edit: Unfortunately video cards are also cheaper than having something with enough processing power to handle the game.

DayZ isn't intended to have explosives; just looking at the way they've been ripped out of the loot list (or never really included in the first place) makes it obvious.

I've played most of the alternate maps and have enjoyed each one I tried so far :) My routine is to not use online maps; I find it's more satisfying just roaming and exploring on my own. Having to remember locations/landmarks using the sun and shadows to find my way is pretty fun actually. It teaches you some things about strategy too (having memorized the landscape in good detail). I feel like I'm actually exploring the maps this way, having an adventure that often takes a week or more for each map.
