Character Identification
Murphy (DayZ) replied to chaostactical's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I recently gunned down someone I would rather not have because we were heading straight for each other. Being decently equipped I was not about to risk someone killing me and stealing my goods so I was forced to drop the poor guy. After seeing "X was killed" I realized it was someone I knew and I felt really bad about it but the situation didn't allow me to ID him. I really wish there was a way to differentiate one player from another without having them do some sort of animation. In the end the whole "raise flag/card" option will force me to give my position away by asking the person who I may/may not end up killing to ID himself. If we could just wear some sort of arm band or different colored cap/shirts it would save a lot of hassle with the whole "Ok go prone right now" thing. I think this suggestion has a lot of merit and I see no negative impacts from an ID system other then your enemies knowing who you are. -
It's quite annoying to have a friend killed by someone who just loaded in, then they grab the gear and disconnect before we get a chance to return the favor. It ruins the game on so many levels I really wish the player avatar would stay for a good 2 - 3 minutes allowing the situation to play through without letting the coward avoid his demise. It was the TCG guys doing this.

Dat big world has no cars...OH DERP
Murphy (DayZ) replied to paxodeus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No. More cars makes it less of a challenge and it is one of the few concrete challenges this game presents. Make them more rare if anything seeing all these car pics should be an indicator of how easily they can really be to acquire. -
free range zombies and more wildlife
Murphy (DayZ) replied to oktyabr's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Roaming zombies would be great, roaming animal zombies would be the best. -
First you need to orient yourselves (determine which direction is North, everyone should be able to do this based on the sun/stars if not time to go to boyscouts or search for a compass), then you need to figure out where exactly you are as we all spawn on the coast (those of us who have played Arma 2 for a while generally know where we are in relation to each other so that is a HUUGE help). Failing all those options one guy needs to locate a map you can use that to guide each other and rally up.

Flying bird people or Crows attack humans
Murphy (DayZ) replied to debo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Possibly a way to keep tension up when you are not near towns, as there was another poster in a separate who outlined how easy you can avoid zombies. I would like to see some sort of roaming zombies, and the crows could fit that role decently. -
The issue is with the LOD for grass. It has been brought up many times in this thread and all those posters had merit. The grass doesn't draw the same at distances and as such those who are further away do not see the grass at all while the player who believes he is hidden sticks out like a sore thumb. Short of disabling grass the only option is not hiding in an open field, which you probably shouldn't be doing if players are after you anyways.

Have none of you ever seen "The Walking Dead" I think the revolver is perfect as it made me feel like Rick the moment I logged in.

Survivor Group anybody?
Murphy (DayZ) replied to blackbeard06's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes you could avoiding playing the game entirely and just sit in the desolate hillside killing stock for enjoyment, but at the point you sound like you may be killing your only companions. Groups are the way to go, I am eager to see tribal style grudges and bouts for land and resources. Or you could choose to login and not play the game like some people apparently do, but ya that sure would get boring being a coward and all. -
Backpack disappeared after entering a lake
Murphy (DayZ) replied to Aquiller's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I lost all my kit falling of a rock into knee deep water, I was not swimming and I do not have an issue with the lost goodies as I recovered from that. But it doesn't seem like something that is based on chance really, I believe there is another underlying issue that remains unknown as of yet. As mentioned sometimes you can easily swim fully geared and others you wade into the water and poof. -
DayZ tricks, interesting places, etc.
Murphy (DayZ) replied to donp's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Make friends not enemys, there are enough supplies and zombies to go around. Shooting that new guy today may end up coming around and biting you in the butt when he gets pimped gear and runs into you another time. -
NVGs make dealing with evasion a lot easier but once the gunfire starts you might as well be using flares as zombies see you no matter what. On the PvP side you might as well complain about scoped weapons too because they have little to no use outside of killing players at range. You are right though most of the players with NVG will use them to avoid other players as that can easily lead to bad things. You can avoid things easier with NVG but as mentioned flares/chemlights and especially flashlights blind NVG users. Who is to say that without NVGs the very same PvPer wouldn't just stalk your light source and kill you just the same? As more and more players salvage NVGs you will likely notice less and less action along the coastline as the real goodies are hidden inland. So by this line of thought the new players will only have to worry about the odd greifing PvPer out for free kills and trolling, because those who have brains will be onto bigger better things then killing for a few bandages and painkillers.

Why dont Americans use American servers?
Murphy (DayZ) replied to Maximilian (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So because I come from a different part of the world I get stereotyped and hated on. There are some real mature comments made from a lot of apparently "intelligent" people. Seeing some of the reasoning here makes me sick, you'd figure people could escape a lot of the BS by playing a game with friends but a few losers prove that ignorance knows no bounds. I'm Canadian and I play on Eu2 exclusively as I have many friends who are European and play on that server. I do not believe anyone should be forced to play an any particular server and those ignorant posters should open their minds to the possibility that their nation has as many faults as the next. I will gladly help anyone in need who doesn't present an immediate danger to me as I am not a narrow minded bigot who is racist based on nations. As for "day chasers" they play to their own needs and who do people think they are to consider themselves better then anyone else.
