    Hello Matteo,
You should take a look at this video first, it will help you to understand a lot of things 🙂

"I see CHILDREN happy for the new car and weapons (which are a copy of the mod)"

Hum.... ? What mod ? DayZ mod ? You are saying they took the 3d models of the guns from arma 2 dayz mod to dayz standalone ? Well no they have a team who create new objects everyday like wheels, mags, guns, hats... Like any company ^^
And if you mean they are recreating only the guns and cars that were in the mod... Well yes and no... Yes because they are not going to put WW1 guns in a country with mostly Eastern guns and Eastern vehicles. And no because they are adding more civilian weapons like the shotguns, the flaregun or the bow and crossbow.

Why do we have less content than in Alpha ?

The team had to create a new Engine "Enfusion" because the old one was not able to deliver the final product. But all the work from the old engine could not be imported to the new engine (3d models, sounds and the map were the only thing they could save). So they've created once again the vehicles physics, the player controler, the melee system and much, much more.

This is why we don't have bows, grenades or paints for example ! Because they need to redo everything from scratch and they want to do it right. As a example we could have seen the melee system with guns ingame since November but we didnt.... Why ? It was not perfect and now, in the next patch (1.03) this feature will be live for everyone.

The physics for the grenades or the dead bodies was bad and you know it. They need time if they want something that feels good 😉

    Okey but the guns ?

They have to work once again on the animations and the new features that gun could need. Like the flaregun, it's very unique and I don't think we will see this one soon because of that. Maybe they also want new and better sounds effects as well.

So why we don't have a "Gun Update"

You want 8 new guns or game changer features ? 😉

Why almost nothing changed since release ?

A lot changed and I mean it. But in short, they had to redo a lot of stuff like the clouds, inventory or quickbar... This long road was the only way to go on and now we are at the end of this boring road. We can now see in the distance the beach with the girls and the bar !
1.01 and 1.02 were boring updates because they tweaked a lot of content.
1.03 add a lot of new content and tweak the last missing bits

    TL:DR

Don't worry, they are working on the game ! They don't have the time to write novels, they are making a game 😉

Hicks to me stalled the game and pissed off a lot of people - he then left without fulfilling much of his vision.

I think that's a bit unfair. The post that drew your ornery reply was written on a Saturday for starters, and I'm actually here every day trying to make the forums at least slightly better.

I do believe though, that the relationship between employers and employees should stay professional. That means compensation according to contract. If not, workers will have to engage in a race to the bottom, and working conditions will suffer for all. Look at the 'crunch time' practices in the software industry as an example.

I think what you really want is information, and I don't know anymore than you do. And, as I said, I wish the devs would engage with the forums more often. In their working hours, that is.

So you are stating that as a Mod, Bohemia are not responding with your requests to increase their presence on the forums?  So what sort of feedback are they giving you?  Why are you still here when notable ex-fanboys like BioHazard have destroyed the game in Steam reviews?

Honestly, why are you still here then?  If Bohemia are not giving you feedback what' your take on the game? Are you finally coming around to realising what most of us figured out 3 years ago that this is a trainwreck of a game?

Just to collect the facts, some have already brought up here:

Yes, updates are being released by our developers, we had the 1.02 update in April, 1.03 will follow this month.

DayZ currently has (if you leave out our release month) the highest average number of active players since summer 2016.

Hang on wasn't 2016 when everyone was complaining about who crap the game was? Bugs, idiotic infected etc?

Something which doesn't affect me, since I can't even remember the last time I played on an official server, but will never fail to greatly annoy me, is people defending or promoting the real-time 24-hour day/night cycles. It's more rare these days but I've seen it many a time.

"I like the realistic days and nights, DayZ should be realistic"
"It's kind of annoying but it forces people to experience night, so it's worth it"
"Without 24 hour cycle it's not proper DayZ!"
"It would suck if they dropped the real-time day/night cycle"
"Time true to real world is an amazing feature"

I'm just making this shit up but if I wanted to I could pull up way too many comments along those lines. Some people suggested setting 8 hour cycles, or 19.5 hour cycles, or something a bit less than 24 hours, and even that was shot down by a few die-hard time fans.

First off, if you're a normal adult, for 5 days of the week, if you want to play DayZ you're going to have to play DayZ at night. 24 hour cycle ensures you'll be stuck in darkness.
Real-world time might be cool if you could hop on at any time of the day or night, but most people can't do that, because they have this thing called a life.
And finally, people don't play for 12 hours and certainly not for 24. The real-time cycles are completely and utterly pointless in a 3 hour session.

It's not any more "authentic" or any more "realistic" to synchronize in-game time with real-world time. If I set up a mission in ARMA my mission is not any less realistic due to it taking place at night when it's day in real life. DayZ servers are not persistent ecosystems. People drop in and out non-stop. And players who don't want night just hop on a server in a different time zone anyways, or the 24/7 day private servers.

    Grrrr.

    1) I will be the first person to admit that if it starts to get dark on a server, I find a safe place to log out.

In a real-world survival scenario, I wouldn't run around at nighttime. Its dumb, being an easy way to get hurt, and if I need something..... I would be better off getting a spot of rest and continuing in the morning.

So why would I do so in-game? Even if we can't trip over out feet in the darkness and break our faces, running around at night with my primary senses largely-useless does not seem like a good use of my time

    2) Nights *can* be bright, depending on the cloud and tree-cover and the phase of the moon. If it is a new moon, or cloud or tree-cover is heavy, chances are you won't be able to see your hand in front of your face. But, with a full moon in open terrain.... you can read a book. I've done it.

totally agree - if DayZ was real no one would be going outside at night.

Honestly I haven't heard that one yet...

Respawned and ran up to Mcta. Whilst looting a brown house opposite the water fountain I heard this sound approaching. I first thought it's a messed-up bugged sound for a vehicle but it was like a a huge barrel filled with glass rolling down a hill and I just cringed behind the house. Nothing out there, no vehicle or anything, gunshots in the distant but a long way off.

And dang, I never SAW a pine-cone, and didn't hear anyone ever mention them, DEFINITELY not Hicks.

Sigh - It was a metaphor for the hours and hours of effort wasted by some players and devs about  introducing crafting content and a difficulty level that was never going to make the game. This had a detrimental effect on the game as development lost focus on the important stuff like making a game bug free and playable.  Can you imagine spawning with fruit and a can of pepsi when Hicks was around?

Anyhow I'll try and keep my posts literal in future .

    Breaking down reviews

Don't spawn with gear =  shit game

Can't spawn with friends = shit game

Can't run to NWAF in 5 mins = shit game

Can't always run without mods = shit game

    Stamina = Shit game

    Survival = shit game

    Infected = Shit game

No vehicles without repairing them = shit game

    Sound about right?

Most of the reviews I've read, (the main ones),  talk about the bugs, crappy infected and the hopeless combat system and none of what you've mentioned.

edit: Evilsausage beat me to it.

I havent played in a long time.   I was in the pre-alpha NDA testing group.  Ive been telling my crew to just hold on, yeah the stable branches of alpha werent fun, they all gave up, but fellas just hold out for the 1.0 release!

Frankly I am shocked at how bad this release is.  I played for about 10 minutes and in that time I saw enough bugs to just put the game down again.  My character’s hair clipped  through his hat.  My character’s glasses clipped through his face.   The worn dirt texture on my jacket became a rainbow spotted distortion.  The zombies... just stood there.

The entire experience felt absolutely no different than the past several years of early access.  I even got this game for free and I feel ripped off.

I’ll check back in a year.  My group of 6 will never come back to play. You had it, fellas.   You had lighting in a bottle and you let it get away.  Just think of all those Lambos you couldve had.

    best review yet

I agree with that . The problem was gamma boosters gaining unfair advantage and spoiling the night game  - was only that.. always was.. nothing else at all. Nothing else needs solving.

YOU live in a city, dude.. !!   (and you aren't a photographer, either) .. see how much I know about you from one casual comment ?
You never spent a night in open country, wilderness,  or in a forest in your life, right? - except maybe in a camp with headlights, floodlights and a McDonalds?

Bet you don't know that you can see SHAPES better in low light from the edges of your eyes, and COLORS better by looking directly at them? And I know, you don't know why.
Human beings have been hunters since we started being human. You have some AMAZING equipment born with your body, and a brain designed to process the input even when you aren't thinking about it. Pity to not make use of those abilities or know about them. You only get one lifetime to make use of it. Try it out.

You know many things pilgrim but you are wrong. I live outside the city in a pretty dark place and i know the things you mentioned unless im blind, but my point is that all this ''super realistic world''  cant be done by these devs and some people here pushed them to make something they cant do. Im pretty sure people wanted a nice pvp open world experience here and at the end they got diarrhea and a toilet paper. Have fun with that.

Papsh has a point the time spent by Hicks, (supported by some posters on here), about making the survival game as hyper-realistic as possible helped to derail the game. In reality it was never going to happen and 3 years were wasted talking about crafting fish hooks out of pine cones. So much time talking about stuff that was never going to get in the game...

    Anyhow back to night.

Eyes do adjust to darkness, I work at night and live in an area with minimal artificial lighting but again we are looking at introducing another feature before making sure the game is running at an acceptable level.

Just for the time being, whilst the devs work on making sure the game runs ok, make night more playable. You LTP lot who want to play in complete darkness just deal with it for the time being - it's about getting people back in the game.  Devs can revisit making night harder later.

    ^^^THIS^^^

This is why you get attitude from me.  I explain that the changes to how nighttime works were daunting at first, but that with some tweaks to your settings to rule out obvious errors, adaptation and effort, they can be managed.
I provide examples, in video form, and take the time to explain that I put on a filter so my stream and recordings won't be as black as what I can't see while playing.

And. You. Both. Accuse. Me. Of. Cheating....

Let that sink in a bit. I try to help, offer tips, provide video documentation of how it is possible to play at night.  Instead of taking this info, and focusing on what you can change about your own approach to darkness, maybe asking for more clarification,  we get this lovely discussion instead. Thanks.

You know what?  Just add me on steam and we'll work this out in a server sometime.
Flares give great illumination now, but I prefer not to use them, as that is how I spotted a guy from about 150 meters away last night.  Glowsticks, stars. and compass all the way.
And for the record, someone who asks to dumb down the game because of their own difficulty to cope is acting a bit entitles IMO.  And a person who openly accuses me of gamma-boost cheating in public is most definitely a gobshite.

Yeah-yeah. Sorry Max, I'm done now.  There's enough people who are at least willing to try, who are online and in dark servers for now.  I'll direct my efforts where they may be of some use to someone.

You could have at least called them on accusing me of cheating, to be fair...

No I haven't accused you cheating, where did I use the word "cheat"?  I've never used Twitch so if you say you need to change the settings so other people can see what's going on fair enough.

Your mention the help you give others. That help comes with a price though doesn't it? All that great advice ruined when you had a meltdown and became petulant and obnoxious. Also despite a mods warning you've just reaffirmed the insult you made towards Daniel. BTW "Gobshite"  also means someone who is contemptible and mean-spirited you know.  Report him if you think he insulted you. Don't respond in kind.

I'm enjoying night - other people are allowed not to enjoy it and come on here and say so. The entitled few on here don't have a monopoly on how everyone should play the game. There is enough scope to have 24hours sunlight servers if people want to play it. It' up to them.

You won't make any friends with that attitude, and nobody will care if you find the game too hard and need to cry about it.  We probably mostly hope you quit, so there will be one less entitled-feeling gobshite running around Chernarus asking to be spoonfed because of failure to GG.

Yeah and this sort of attitude does?

Mods - is this an acceptable reply from a veteran of this forum to swear at/insult another forum member?  This guy was posting his views on an aspect of the game that he didn't enjoy so he gets called a "gobshite", "entitled", etc.

FFS 1.0 is here a new start and how is this sort of crap really going to encourage people to return to the game?

Some of the fanboys have always had big issues about how other people want to play the game, imposing your views by bullying - always pissed me off about this place. Already leaving a sour taste and I've only been back 5 minutes.

Darkness is great but flawed at the moment, it isn't exactly realistic.  People who don't like playing it - fair enough, swap servers? Not always a viable option with things like ping. If this was real world with DayZ settings nobody would set out of their bunker, base camp, etc if it was this dark.

I've enjoyed playing at night got killed, no big deal, it was fun but I'd like the option to enjoy the engine in the daylight as I've got limited time to spend in game for the rest of the weekend and I'm enjoying meeting people again.

Some Old-timers here should understand it's make or break for the game and being obnoxious and childish isn't helping anyone.

edit: I've also just watched your twitch and you've obviously manipulated the settings as its way, way lighter than the night I've been playing in, you say you've done it for "broadcast" purposes I guess we'll have to take your world for it.

  13. Yes they took their bloody time getting the game to this point but it's running pretty well. Combat with the infected is still a bit of a mess; but to be fair I think it would be in real life if someone was trying to chew your face off. Interface is still a balls-ache but I can live with it.

It's nice to finally be shot and clubbed to death as for the last 3 years I've not met a single person on the public servers downunder!

  14. Not played for ages - it's looking pretty good. It's pitch black and I'm above a city, I have no light. I'm hit by something, I'm bleeding I bandage and run off, I keep getting hit, fall over and my blood is empty and flashing. I can't bandage anymore, also I appear to have lost my only weapon my crowbar.

Was I hit by another player or infected? If so why can't I hear them moving around? I literally got hit and never heard a sound which suggest a player, how did they track me in the darkness?

When I come round from blacking out if I'm losing blood why can't I bandage?

Right. But Hicks is no longer part of the team. So you can not insist on his statements.

We have to take what we get. BI makes games ... games for leisure and not a "medicine" that will cure 1000 people from death.

As a consumer from day one. Hicks went mental about the game being a survivalist sim rather than a post-apoc zombie game. Was bullish and out of order about the anyone who disagreed. Had a few tarts on here who backed him about a  "farming apples" sim  and in the meantime the world had moved on.

  16. OK given up as I've jut not got the patience to do this at the moment I logged out and my guy looks strangely like how I feeling about the game.

sorry it wont let me post a steam screen shot on here.  (Imagine a guy looking sad and in his underpants)

FFS help me Bohemia and fan-people! I've got 500+ hours! help me!

  17. well my rags and flare turned up and there was much rejoicing. However everywhere I go all I find are badly damaged denim shorts, (I've found 5), and if I want to jump anything I have to switch to 1st person - which makes perfect sense doesn't it? Luckily the zombies, (and don't give me crap about they are not zombies it was on the front Bohemia DayZ page for years calling them zombies), are drunk, blind or both.
