Why is the game UI so bad?

well my rags and flare turned up and there was much rejoicing. However everywhere I go all I find are badly damaged denim shorts, (I've found 5), and if I want to jump anything I have to switch to 1st person - which makes perfect sense doesn't it? Luckily the zombies, (and don't give me crap about they are not zombies it was on the front Bohemia DayZ page for years calling them zombies), are drunk, blind or both.

Why is the game UI so bad?

OK so my new beta guy despite the server screen showing him turned into a new s pawn on entering the game. Fine So new guy spawns in the rain, I found a house and tried to put on a jacket but it vanished also the rags and road flare have gone to. This is worse than when the Standalone came out what is going on?

    Can't adjust head bob?

In 3rd person the head bob makes me immediately want to puke but I can't see any head bob in the options. Where is it?

    Can't adjust head bob?

Also have they removed looking over your shoulder in 3rd person? I've adjusted the field of view to combat head bob but can't seem to look over my shoulder anymore.

    It's Been 6 Years

You can't really accuse Sneakydude of not understanding the EA process and that comment from you is pretty patronizing and unnecessary. Hell I've hardly agreed with him in the past but you can't fault his commitment to this game.

    I know, but be patient.

I hate these "I'm a game developer, blah, blah, blah" posts. Devs don't seem to understand gamers at all. The average gamer doesn't care about how much work goes into a game and people who want to sell games need to understand that. That's why you should never have the boffins who make games do the marketing. It's taken too long. Two years in and "we've taken your money but have decided we can't or won't actually make the game as we are making a new engine" - thanks for that. The project has been mismanaged - Years wasted with Hicks arguing about turning it into a pure survival sim against what the average gamer wanted which was "zombies and bandits" type of a game. Think how huge The Walking Dead was at the time? Talk about failing to stay on board with that. In the meantime nothing happens just dwindling players and stupid loot. Other studios get it and start making rivals to DayZ. Five years on and BI announce a new game, yes its made with a different team to DayZ but nobody is going to get that. All people are going to see is "Why are they making a new PUBG clone when we already have one in DayZ and DayZ was here before PUBG"? BI playing catch up even though they had a game there all along. Just look at the comments on Steam and those on Youtube for the game. You might think they are morons but they are the people who actually buy games and pay the wages.

    Leaving Early acces this year.

So DayZ is nowhere near finished and they are working on a new game?
  8. forteantimes23

    Where is the DayZ population?

Because gold is a coveted, can be traded and can give you power and influence. DayZ is a failed game, has disappointed thousands of players and is pretty much forgotten by everyone. If it's a scam it's a good one and taught lots of people about Early Access

    Where is the DayZ population?

I think your analogy of comparing DayZ with "1 million dollar worth of gold" is really stretching it. Unless Bohemia is based in Nigeria?

    Just checking in..

    Nobody cares.

    Pleasure to meet you, Beta.

I've missed the update. Is beta a thing?

Thinking about buying, but steam reviews

Yeah I've played the game a fair bit and know where to go. I still haven't seen anyone, so it's not "lucky me" as I enjoyed the pvp side of the game.

Thinking about buying, but steam reviews

Totally get that. That doesn't alter the fact that other games out there cover the different aspects of DayZ that people like. PUBG for pvp. State of Decay 2 for base building and zombies, etc. It doesn't alter the fact either that implementing the new engine has knocked back release by another 3 or 4 years from the proposed 3 year development cycle. Communication with the public about development has been poor and although this is welcome we still don't know much apart from "we'll get Beta out at some point over the next year". Bohemia would have done well to employ someone with a public relations background to handle communication about the project after all DayZ has had massive financial support from the public and had a huge media presence when the EA came out in 2014.

Thinking about buying, but steam reviews

I've not met any other players playing DayZ since early 2016 on Australian public severs so it's effectively a singe player PvE. At least when State of Decay 2 launches it's going to be less buggy and have more things to do than DayZ.

Thinking about buying, but steam reviews

This isn't strictly true. No one thought the game would be ready to go in 2014, players did expect more progress than has been achieved. The Dev's have not handled communication with the fanbase well and the reviews reflect this. A lot of the negative reviews speak about how much fun they had when the Alpha was released but express dismay at the lack of progress. Some mention that they cannot load the game or even play it on PC's that are quite high spec which goes against Valve's rules on early access. Others, myself included, haven't met any other players on public servers in years, (I think early 2016 was the last time for me). For me when I pop in every so often it's basically a single player experience not the MMO it is advertised as. One of the fundamental problems with DayZ is the world has moved on and other games have taken it's place. State of Decay 2 is out in about 6 weeks for example. A fully functioning game ready to go two years after it was announced. I'm only posting here as I think the OP asked a genuine question that most people have responding sensibly and wisely to. Most negative reviews are not from haters. Most reviewers loved the game as a mod and when it was released as SA.

After Long break i understand why nobody plays DayZ.

You used to be such a pro-DayZ Bear Grylls supporter several years ago.. Have you changed your mind?

5 months till the new update? Realy?

Yes but the points he makes are true and much better than your comment which is basically STFU which suggest you have no argument. If that had been a anti DayZ dev comment you would have been given a warning.

5 months till the new update? Realy?

So do you feel any different now after all the grief you given to posters here over the years about the games development?

After Long break i understand why nobody plays DayZ.

Yeah but I sort of bought the game as it was advertised as an early access MMO. I've done pve to death since around 2015 I've met about 3 people. Also why should I have to host my own servers? No other game asks me to do that.

Hey anyone from the South Pacific/ SouthAsia Australia, New Zealand, etc which isn't Pipsi help me meet another player? This is advertised as a "Multiplayer landscape" game but I've not met anyone on public for two years.

FFS what is your problem? At least you meet other players I've not met anyone for two years on Aussie public servers.
  22. forteantimes23

After 5 years, I am leaving the DayZ community.

I just came back from a warning I was given ages ago to just say this is a great post. This sums up DayZ perfectly for me.
