Even though the game doesn't really use steam, DayZ uses your CD-Key from ARMA 2 and OA to create a specific GUID for you. So logging in of a different computer should not be an issue.

You do realize that passworded servers are against the rules right? Have fun with your server when it is shut down in less than a week.

How do you not know your timezone? If I had to guess without looking at a map I would say Denmark is +2 GMT. And only using Skype. I still cannot see how people can use Skype. You can run 10 person ventrillo servers(and probably other VOIP programs) for free using your computer as the server. Anyway good luck on finding someone. You are too far out of my time zone for us to play together.

So just got a fun glitch. Logged out near the NWAF earlier this evening, though I'd get back on for some moon light operations. Soon as my character spawns it says I am dead, so i disconnect and reconnect, spawn with all my gear in, of all places, Elektro. Took me a couple minutes but I decided "Fuck it" and decide to run through and see if I can help any freshies or catch some bandits by surprise. I had an M4A3 CCO and a MP5SD. Went to the western fire station, nothing interesting. Killed another person at the grocery store with a grenade in the backroom(sorry if you are reading this. I could only see you had a main weapon. If I would have known it was a crossbow, I would have left peacefully). The story gets good when I start to head towards the northern fire station. Before I enter the back door, I can hear flies. I take my usual action. Open the door and just run in to surprise them with my disregard for my own life. Sure enough, I see 2 silhouettes under the stairs behind sandbags. I run to the wall and get ready to hit VOIP to say I am friendly. One of the people preemptively answers my question with the bark of a M107. He misses like a tool so I think "You know what, who knows how many these 2 have killed. Its time to make up for some noobies that I have killed myself". Guess who still has one more grenade in their backpack? THIS GUY! I get it out of my backpack, position myself out of their sight to bank the thing off the door way, and let it eat. I also decide to yell over the mic "EAT A DICK!" So to Da Baconator and Erik Krevshenko on US 285, thanks for the M107, just lost one yesterday to a hacker. My only regret is that I didn't beat you guys to the gillie suit and that you didn't have NVGs or a Range Finder. (On a side note, I think one of them might have dced or something. I killed 3 people, but only have 2 murders and no bandits killed. There were also about 5 bodies at the bottom of the stairs.)

Not really. When it is less than 50 meters I generally just put the circle straight forward and hold until it releases. Makes its a straight throw to the target. It should be noted I lost the M107 when I reconnected. Then I went and killed mister Baconator again and he had another M107...kinda suspicious but whatever. Then I lost that one. Couldn't pull it out of my pack so i re logged and when I came back in my backpack was completely empty. So then I gave up, ran around, got shot at by some pudgee fuck with an AS50 who shot like a palsy patient with a nervous twitch. Swear he wasted 10+ rounds trying to hit me. Ran up to where the shots were coming from and yelled over mic but got no response or shots. Bitch probably DCed.

And if you could read what I am trying to tell you is that Rocket and the DayZ team can do nothing about it. It is completely out of their hands. Making a bunch of noise about it just annoys people. Do you not think other games have had large influxes of hackers or scripters before? Ever play Battlefield? How about APB? Or maybe Call of Duty? When a game gets a lot of good attention, it also gets a lot of bad attention. Also did you even read my post? Did I ever make mention once about this being an alpha? I couldn't give two shits if its an Alpha, Beta, or stand alone release, I have fun in the game. All you are doing right now is dismissing anyone who has a contradicting idea to yours as being a fan boy or a scripter, and make yourself out to be the knight in shining armor, when in all actuality you are just another retard in aluminum foil...

Me and another guy out of our four man group got killed by a teleporting god moder with a PKP yesterday when my character was over a week old. Shot him 4 times with an M107. No dice. Do u see me making a thread on the forums to QQ? No. Because I'm smart enough to realize that the hacking has nothing to do with the DayZ team. Its is all on BattlEye. And not only that, but people hack in every god damn game out there buddy, there's no way around it. You are going to run into them. The fact you run into them so much is just bad luck. Also accusing someone of being a hacker or a scripter or a fresh spawn killer solely based on that person saying they still enjoy then game when you don't makes you sound like an arrogant little 12-year-old prick. Or accusing them of being a fan boy because they still like that game. Your problem is you have had a string of bad luck. TL;DR - Get over it, move on, or leave.

You bump it after 1 minute? Seems kind of desperate. I just fuck with some graphic settings and it fixes its self. Anyone who has a consistent problem with it confirm that this works?

Honestly the gun itself isn't that rare to find. Its one of the more common chopper drops. The problem is finding ammo for the damn thing. However, Firemac, the gun is still damn good. Its a 2 shot to the chest, putting it on par with most sniper rifles. Combine that with not having a scope, it makes the rifle great for mid-to-short-range firefights. The two biggest downsides are its length, which makes it a little awkward to use in CQC, and the noise it makes, which will draw in a lot of zeds when you shoot. Fun gun to have, bark is scary, doesn't lack the bite either.

Who knew, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would make an appearance in DayZ. Now we just need nun-chucks, quarterstaves, katanas and sai as melee weapons and we could make a movie; TMNT: Attack of the Brain Munchers

Grenades seem to be by far the best way to get someone off your ass in a city. They work great in super markets. Just run in, go to the opposite side of the entrance behind that shelf, and throw it over the shelf. I usually use them for the sole purpose of destroying other peoples tents though. Only thing better than killing someone is watching their hopes and dreams and gear crumple to the ground in a pile of sadness and canvas.

You are my new favorite person on these forums. On topic: Once I find gear I like, I usually start to play much more cautiously. When I'm fairly fresh however, with an Enfield or Winchester or something, I give absolutely no fucks and usually just run around the cities and loot everything I can find

This is two suggestions in one post. Feel free to tell me what you guys think of these suggestions, but keep it somewhat constructive please. Fear With this latest patch, Zeds seem a little too easy, yes? You can just run through a city, Zero Fucks Given, and eventually lose 30+ zeds by bobbing and weaving between buildings or trees and bushes. Its just a little too simplistic. So I propose this; when being chased by more than 10-15 zombies, there is a fear mechanic. Lets say a 15%(or more) chance to trip(instantly throw your character prone from full sprint). This adds more of a reason to be careful in towns and citys. This would also work when not running. Say you hide in a building with a gaggle of them chasing you. Make the character do the screaming as if they are being eaten. This makes noise, making them more likely to keep following you through said building. Now of course there needs to be a way to circumvent this. I say make a use for those empty whiskey bottles. They don't call it liquid bravery for nothing. Spawn full whiskey bottles. Make said whiskey eliminate the chance for this fear or reduce it to an almost nonexistent amount. Sure if you drank an entire 1/5th of Jack or Jim you would be pretty hammered, but most people also don't drink an entire canteen of water or can of soda in one gulp so lets keep it simple. If you want to be hard-line about it you could make it have the same effect on your accuracy as running for about 100 meters but I don't think its necessary. Fire Starting This one is a lot simpler. Since matches are so damn hard to find for some people(I admit I have had trouble finding them sometimes, other times its one of the first things I find), allow people to start fires with road flares. It is absolutely in the realm of reality that you can start a fire with a road flare, even if the tinder is wet. The trade off for this is that with road flares you have to throw it, then pick it up, then with it in your hands, light the fire. This leaves you much more open, as well as giving yourself away at night time. So, discuss. Also if either of these have been posted before I apologize. I did a quick search and didn't find anything so I made the post, but I may have missed it since I didn't look past the first page :blush:

The Zeds standing still is an unintentional bug having to do with their spawns. I've seen some servers with a few, I've seen some with nearly the whole of Cherno at a stand still. As for aggroing a hoard, I do it all the time. Whats the point of being stealthy if I can run into a building and lose them on the other side. Or run in and just pop them when they line up single file. I would like it if I didn't have to do this, but I would also like if the Zeds didn't bob and weave to avoid gunfire. On topic for the matches, its not so much a work around as it is an alternative. Just like the fact that you can raid cities or supermarkets for food, or you can hunt animals. Starting a fire with matches is easier, and less likely to give you away. However, if you haven't found that tool yet, but you have found a wood pile and killed an animal, why not be able to still start a fire. I just remembered something as well. I am fairly sure you can light and put out a fire as much as you want without matches. All the matches allow you to do is make a fireplace. This needs to be changed so that a pile of wood can be used to create a fireplace.

If you actually listen, when u reload the sidearm, it makes the reload sound for your primary. Not only confirmed to happen with a M1911, but the revolver as well. Will try other sidearms if I get the chance. You can add the Enfield and the M24 to that list that bug it out as well. As someone who uses their sidearm to kill Zeds a lot, I've only encountered this bug since 1.7.2.3, possiblely since 1.7.2

Looks like u r about to make that 12006. I am at 1 because some dick decided to take a shot at me and a random guy up in Stary Sober. We met in Cherno, went all the way up to the NWAF and he was the only person we encountered. That guy took 2 shots, missed both of us with his M24, then I put one in his head with my newly acquired M24 I found in the tents. Evars or Evans or something like that. Yes but scrap metal is more in need for vehicles. It actually serves a decent purpose. Flares however are completely useless in the day time, and at night it is only good to throw them FAR away from you and not get near them yourself. Using them to start a fireplace would make them more useful.

This is kind of ridiculous when I have to say this on the forums, and I'm fairly sure everyone on the forums are the slightly more intelligent margin than some of the people that play this game. So I will post this here so that any new players can read it and know one thing not to do. I had this happen last night, kind of annoyed me. I was checking the apartments across from the hospital in Cherno. I came out of the Northern one, and was going to check the center one. As I come out, a man with a makarov comes around the corner of the center apartment. I immediately yell "Don't shoot, don't shoot. I'm friendly" and scamper back into the apartment. I had my revolver out to clear zeds and my 870 on my back. Immediately switch to that and place the front bead in the door way. I can hear his footsteps continuing closer. He walks around the corner with his shitty little makarov trained on me. So I blasted him with buckshot. I can understand people not knowing the default buttons for communication. I can understand people assuming everyone is NOT friendly. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but if I smell shit I keep an eye out and try not to step in it. If someone says they are friendly and retreats into a building, for the love of god, don't follow them and immediately point your gun at them. Try and communicate with them I have decided to try and help new people. But when people make it hard for me to help them it makes me not WANT to help them And in case anyone is wondering, caps lock is the default for VOIP, I suggest everyone with a mic have it set up where they can use it easily.

You sir are a genius. I wanted to hop in a server in Cherno some night and talk like Arnold and just run around yelling at people. Yeah I should have clarified it more. I didn't mean once it knocked you prone you couldn't get up. Make it just like real life; if you are running for your life and you trip, you are going to do everything in your power not to fall. And if you do fall, you are gonna get up as fast as possible and continue running. You are correct though, balance is key. However, this is the point in the game's development to find that balance as far as I am concerned.

Fraps is a little Hard drive intense. I used to record to the single HDD that I had, got horrid FPS and overall ruined my fun while playing. Then I got a 1.5 TB external and record to it now. Smooth as silk. The one and a half minute video it records is something like 1.2 gigs, and that's recording at half size. Quality is good, settings are simple. But as Kugane says, its almost too simple. For me it works though. Just try some out.

Well I usually do. Have met a few ppl and taught them the binds for voice and text chat. Played with some randoms before for a couple hours before server issues split us up. But in this case I didn't have time, as I could hear his footsteps closing in and was focused on my own life at that point. Then stop reading them and fuck off. I'm trying to help new people who read the forums by telling them what most people who have played the game for more than 2 weeks are going to say and assume. I'm not saying killing people is against the concept of the game or that its evil. Hell, I've been a bandit before. Had a week old character with 20 some bandit kills and 700 some zombie kills before I glitched out of a Offroad at full speed and died on impact. Eventually you want to try something new. But you go ahead and keep howling for your NVGs and AS50s. I'm perfectly fine with an Enfield or MR43.

Fraps. One of the best. Just make sure you have the hard drive space and I recommend recording your video to a hard drive not being used by the game, you get much better performance. Also I wouldn't recommend the trial version. Retail version is much better. How you obtain said version is up to you.

Nobody liked when one zombie could break your leg with one hit from 12000 blood either but that was in the game for a time lol. I just think it could be worth a shot. This IS an alpha and the point in a game where DEVS can try different stuff and see how it works out.
