    Co-op tips for me?

Best way to learn (and the most fun) is to just go out there. You'll die lots but you'll learn something new each time. If you're going to play with a friend you'll need a map to find each other when one of you dies (when you spawn in in the bottom right it will tell you where you are). This is a good one http://avidblur.com/arma2/ .

Why did you remove bandit skin ?

You're part of that 99% and making the problem you want addressed worse. I shoot, but because I enjoy shooting and being shot at - well not so much the getting shot at :)

    Spawn in Wilderness? Help.

My friend found a DMR and got all excited. On his next spawn in he spawned miles from anything, spent an hour trying to get out, ate and drank all his supplies and then ran over an invisible pond or lake and his DMR got lost in the water. I giggled.
  4. I find starting with no gun helps the coastal bean wars. Before when I respawned I'd make my way back to my buddies and I'd head toward any gunfire I heard along the way - whether it was a guy with a Makarov, or a band of people with AKs. I had nothing to lose and there's a chance I could quickly double up on supplies. I still have nothing to lose when I spawn now, but I can't kill anyone without a gun. Not that finding a gun is even difficult, the 2 times I died in 1.7.1.1 I had assault rifles within 30 minutes. My average life span is probably around 10 hours and that's 10 hours of me actively looking for a fight. If there are some that die seemingly every 20 minutes they have no one to blame but themselves. Should the game be catered to those that aren't very good at it?

    Cant lower my weapon, help!

Lower your weapon?!?! BUT EVERYONE IS OUT TO KILL YOU!!!!!
  6. I used to kill anyone on sight. Now I don't bother killing unarmed players unless I feel they may be a potential threat (i.e. spotted me or looking for weapons in the immediate area I'm in).
  7. I took someone's Kobra yesterday, and I found one at a fire station in Elektro a few days earlier. I prefer the AKM though.

    fairly new, is this normal?

Apparently food and water doesn't drop very often (or not at all I'm not sure - I have butchered meat and refillable water canteens atm) in the latest patch. You're searching in the right place for loot to spawn, if you want to find things like weapons then look out for airfields, fire stations, barns, grocery stores, offices and the odd house has pistols. Until you get a bearing of the map and which buildings are where I imagine it's a tad overwhelming. It was for me and that was when you used to start with a gun! Here's a map: http://avidblur.com/arma2/
  9. I don't understand how you can play the game for 4 hours and not find a single gun. My last life I found an MP5 in 10 minutes, killed a guy with an M4 with no ammo 5 minutes after that, found stanag rounds 5 minutes later so went back for the M4... found an M16 10 minutes later so dropped my M4 for it... 20 minutes later 3 players with AK's/M4 were firing at dozens of zombies, so I killed them from 400m away and picked up an AK74 kobra. Then the next day a hacker instantly killed me in the middle of a forest (no shots fired, my friend was behind me), which was awesome - karma for being a big bad bandit I guess :) This life 10 minutes in I found a crappy pistol, then a lee enfield moments later.... 2 buildings later a guy with an AKM attacks me... and now currently I have his gun. How can people not find guns? If you're looking to cooperate with people then get some friends and join mumble or teamspeak and work together. Then you can choose whether to play as survivors, or as bandits, heck... or as pirates! YAARRRRR! Incentivising cooperation among survivors is a tough issue to deal with, too little and there's no point trusting anyone... too much and the game has no risk (if you die one of the 10 guys you're buddied with picks your gear up and gives you it back as just one example). I'd be fine with bandit skins coming back, I liked that. You have bandits who will always kill you, you'll have your own friends on VOIP that won't... and then you have a bunch of random people that all have their own agendas.
  10. I don't understand why you came here to defend yourself/clan. You're just going to give the guy accusing you exactly what he wants - attention. I doubt anyone on these forums cares about this, I just find it funny because this thread would have been on page 2 or 3 by now if you left it be. And now it's getting a bump by me... and the circle continues...

    Killing zombies, just not fun.

Your changes would trivialise zombies. I prefer the way the zombies are now to the way they were before. Fun is clearing out a town without getting hit by a zombie, or even shooting them - and you can do that without crawling. It's the same as before only the tactics used are different, you can lure zombies away from loot spots and then lose them and return to the loot for example. If crawling around towns and taking your time isn't fun then find a method that is! I'd hate to have zombies made less of a threat, I just don't see how getting access to loot easily is fun. It would be rather boring for me, and death would feel like less of a punishment.
  12. Is a "Cool story, bro" appropriate?

    Trust NO ONE

Why should the guy trust you? You had a good gun (my fav personally), supplies and more (maybe alice pack etc.). If he hesitates there's a very good chance he will get shot. For all you know he could have had some high end equipment and was afraid of you taking it from him. When I had my silenced M4 and NVG I shot on sight, no questions asked. Why should he take that chance? And if he was helping you mow down zombies why didn't you announce you were friendly then, rather than waiting until he was in a position to fire at you? If you're looking for friends you won't find them at any of the 3 airstrips, or the 2 major cities. You need to pre-empt the 'friendly' call (good luck with that!), if you leave it until you are pointing at one another the guy that hesitates and shouts/types friendly dies more often than not. It was your carelessness that got you killed.
  14. People disconnecting during and after fire fights needs to be dealt with. I'm not sure how though, I mean there's probably only so much that can be done with the engine. I like what Eve Online does. If you initiate combat with another player and log out, you stay in the game for 15 minutes. 1 moron shot at me with a Lee Enfield the other day, missed and logged out when zombies ran to his position. The zombies despawned, he reappeared and I killed him. If only side chat was enabled on that server...
  15. Did the building have 2 exits? If it didn't you shouldn't have even went in there because if you didn't find a gun you'd be trapped anyway. While aggroing a zombie right away is a bit crap all you have to do is break its line of sight by running around a building or a wall and there's a high chance it will stop following you.
  16. I don't understand why you'd want to crawl around towns and zombies with this patch. You can lose zombies easily. If you're spotted by a player crawling you are as good as dead. A player running with zombies chasing him is at least hard to hit and he's always a building or a wall away from dropping aggro. The people whining about DayZ becoming CrawlZ clearly haven't adapted to the new zombies. That's not the fault of the mod.
  17. I like the name of this forum thread.

    New aggro "rules"?

Stop crawling around town and just run around. Zombies are easy to lose now. They do have enhanced vision in the direction their body is facing though. If a zombie is looking at your direction and you're in a building looking through a window at them the chances are they will see you. I'm not sure how it works with tall buildings, whether they can see you at the top of them while they are looking at the base of the building but in your direction. There's also been occasions where I've sat in a room with no windows, a survivor runs by my building with a train of zombies and they come up the stairs after me even though I haven't went near or a window or even moved.
  19. redsh1rt

No gun at the start of the game ?

That error message is common, just hit ok and don't worry about it. You can stop the zombies chasing you by breaking line of sight from them, they're easy to avoid once you figure out how. Dying is part of the game, so don't get disheartened.

DayZ Mod is hitting Television News!

I love how you sensationalise the title of this thread. :)
  21. redsh1rt

    rename the mod CrawlZ

Zombies give up if you get out of their line of sight. It's easier than before, I can run in towns pull zombies, kill survivors crawling around (or luring the zombies to them) and then run around and through buildings and lose them. It's easier unless stealth is absolutely required (i.e. you're stalking someone). Stealth isn't required in Cherno, Elektro or many of the towns, because crawling about in cities is a fast way to get picked off by a bandit.
  22. Some of the issues with FPS are server side. I can join a server and spawn in the middle of the woods with 7fps, and when I disconnect and join another I get 50. Servers that have not been restarted for a while have horrible fps in my experience. Also this game seems to be very CPU dependent. I've had my i7 920 at stock speeds (2.4GHz) for a while... I overclocked it to 3.33GHz today just to see what difference it would make. Running around in Cherno like an idiot at 1920x1200 I get around 35 fps where I'd get around 20 before. In the wilderness I'd get 60fps where'd I'd have got 45 before. i7 920 6GB RAM AMD 6970 160GB SSD
