Stamina mechanics improvement (I've seen that there already is a suggestion about stamina and fatigue, this is a different suggestion and a further improvements to the stamina system) Premise I start to say that in my opinion a survival game should always have a micromanagement aspect (like managing food, water etc) because it keeps the game loop alive, and (especially in a game like DayZ) it often leads to funny and epic situations, encounter etc. What is my suggestion about As mentioned above, in DayZ right now there are just these two "timers" to care about ( but I'm sure that the devs will improve all the survival aspects of the game, since it is what 90% of us wants). So now I'm going to give a suggestion about a new feature that could be implemented: Fatigue/Tiredness/Sleep or whatever it could be called. HUD concept I made: Right now the stamina is only driven by the amount of weight you're carrying (and maybe by soft skills?) and this leads to having almost zero stamina if you are carrying an extra rifle or an extra melee weapon. In my opinion this is too punitive, so I was thinking that the inventory weight should affects a bit less the max amount of stamina; instead, this "new stat" (the Fatigue) should majorly impact the max amount of stamina. How it could works... There could be more "major" stages: Zero fatigue: 100% stamina (minus the percentage depending on the weight), no debuff, (maybe a buff?) Tired: Less stamina (minus the percentage depending on the weight), random yawning animation Exhausted: Few stamina (minus the percentage depending on the weight) , more time to complete an action (crafting, chopping wood etc), being sleepy Fully Exhausted: you go unconscious for a couple of seconds ...and how to manage it You could reduce your "Fatigue stat" by: Resting: doing the "Sit" animation on the ground (-5% per minute) -> (20 min to be fully rested) sitting (with new specific animation) on bench/chair (-10% per minute) -> (10 min to be fully rested) "Sleeping" (basically taking a nap, so you will have black screen and you won't be able to hear other people VoIP like when you're unconcious ) lying down on the ground (-20% per minute) -> (5 min to be fully rested) lying down on bench/bed (-30% per minute) -> (a couple of minutes to be fully rested) Drinking new beverages Could be implemented new beverages like coffe, tea etc (and drinking beer and other similar drinks will also affect the Fatigue stat negatively) So at the end I'm impatient to wait what do you think about this idea. I think that adding this small Stat could open a completely new world for the game: people will be more attracted to basebuilding (not before some tweaking ). I imagine a group of people sitting around a campfire resting on their handcrafted chairs/bed and eating (cooking mechanics should (and will) be more complex and deep) before going for PvP or a base raid. I know that this is a very complex thing to realize and needs a lot of time and "resource" to be done, but as I said this will change a lot the gameplay (so no more running, looting and shooting 😄 ) Please let me know what you think. If you think that this shouldn't be imlemented and you dislike the idea let me know why; or if you like the idea share with me what tweaks it needs

Apparently a modder implemented my idea in his mod . If you're interested in this idea, go give it a look and let's see if it could work in DayZ Vanilla and maybe we could see it implemented in the base game.

After finishing a can of food, we should get an empty can which can be used to carry a little amount of water (or any other kind of liquid), but especially for cooking food, or making beverages

oh... didn't know that I really hope devs will implement this little awesome feature

DayZ should be as more immersive as possible, it should makes you feel a real survivor, it should makes you feel that you are in a real post-apocalyptic world. To make this possible our character should be able to smell what's around him. For example... You killed tons of zombies and if you are too much time near them, you will start feel the smell of the rotting corpses and you'll vomit. (same with human corpses) 1.1 With future soft skill implementation, with the time you will be always less disgusted by that smell While you're cooking and the meat is ready you'll get a message "The meat smell good" 2.1 or "The meat smell of burning" If you damage your vehicle engine -> "I can smell the oil" or something like that If you like the idea make more examples, if you don't like it tell me why :)

I really don't like the blood in DayZ SA. It looks awful. So here's my suggestion: there should be no blood particles dropping like a fountain from your body, (just a small example :D ) but when you are bleeding your character should draw a texture of blood on the floor (or eventually on walls), (how it should be) so there will be another way to track the bambi you just shot in the leg :D . Another cool mechanic regards the bandage. When you bandage yourself you should see the bandage on your body (for example forearms), like an armband and you can remove it whenever you want, but if you remove it too early you'll start bleeding again. With future softskills implementation the more you bandage the more you'll be able to bandage efficiently. Let me know what do you think

For this reason I'd like to have it in DayZ, because it's annoying; I'm imaging a "veteran" player standing on a pile of zombies saying "Pff..." while seeing a bambi vomiting for a single zombie. P.S. I just go another idea related to this, but I think it's a bit useless opening another thread. You should be able to put gasoline from a canister on dead corpses and put them on fire with matchbox or a torch, so you'll make the corpses "no more lootable" instead of using "Hide body"

I'd like to have another item(s) in DayZ: Money Do not misunderstand me, I don't want an economic system in DayZ. But money should be just another item to loot that you could use to make a fire or anything else you can do with cash. Then is up to the players to decide what to do with moneys; I just guess how it would be when basecamp will be added, a huge trade camp like this: but instead of trade items, you can use that item (money) like trade object. Let me know what do you think

Sometimes I feel a bit stupid... seems that I can't make me understand by people. I absolutely don't want DayZ as you described, with society, laws and so on... As BeefBacon said ... so we don't need laws and society; we just need a "well-regulated" server (like existing roleplay server); meanwhile on other servers money will just be a piece of cloth or a metal coin -Pazaright's camp: -Jack's camp: "I'm sorry, but my camp doesn't want money (because we don't think money is still valuable), but we can give you two SVDs for some ammo, food or anything else. If you want to trade money with SVD (because you think money is still valuable), you can go to John's camp which still accept money for SVDs(because John's camp think money is still valuable)" I said that this item must be added RIGHT NOW? No, absolutely! This is JUST an IDEA; like the "door sound": as far I remember "door sound" was a concept made by an user, but in that time DayZ had other priorities (fixing bug, adding weapon and so on), but after some time "door sound" have been added.

So I have not expressed that bad, you understood exactly my idea :D

Maybe I expressed myself badly... When I said "I don't want an economic system" I meant that I don't want an "official" thing; to be more precise and make me understand, I'll do an example: "the hero and the bandit" it's not an "official" thing, you don't have to choose a class when you start a game, but "the hero and bandit" were created by players. I imagined the same thing with money... there is an item and nothing more... I was just imaging that maybe a player will start using that item as a trade object, if another player don't want, that item doesn't have value. I am definitely not saying this. But I want that item because it will make the enviroment more immersive. So you're telling me that you use meat tenderizer, teddy bear and so on? They're mostly useless, but they still spawn; so why don't add another item? This make me understand that you didn't read all the post

Read again my post... I know that "Money has no value in a post apocalyptical anarchic world" , infact I'm not saying that you have to use money as a valuable item. It's a post apocalyptical anarchic world, but I don't understand why there shouldn't be money as a common item to loot, just like a meat tenderizer: It's completely useless (for the moment), but it spawns the same. Money could useful to make a fire (instead of rags) or bandage etc. these are just some ideas, but for me there should be money, even if they are useless...

A little preview made by me :D

I think that optics should change, they should be like this for a better hardcore experience: Let me know what do you think :D

Actually in almost every fps is how you said, for example if you aim with an ACOG scope you'll see the entire scene zooming... maybe in DayZ there is no blur, but in my opinion DayZ should be as more realistic/hardcore as possible, so I would be so happy if I'll see this in DayZ, because when I saw this kind of "aiming" I got a huge erection :D

I think it's not so "complicated"... In my opinion directx 11 could allow to render this in real-time without problems, but I'm not an expert :D
