    Damn those pesky trees and bushes, are you prone? can't see? well hit that button and switch to crouch stance to raise your profile way higher than you actually would IRL. DayZ is so realistic that you can't just raise your head a little bit to see over those foot long blades of grass and forget about just using your arms to raise your body just enough so that your head can see over the foliage, in the real world people wouldn't do something safe like that. Having trouble moving inside a building because your fat character is too fat and can only point his gun directly in front of himself? Well get used to it bro, this shit is hardcore real. This is immersion, now go walk around your house with your arms pointed out in front of you and get stuck in door ways, so that when you play dayz your ass gets immersed. Hightailing it from some zeds in your UAZ and thought you saw a bandit crouching next to the rear of the gas station you just passed? Turn that UAZ around since russian rear view mirrors are actually just grey paintings made by putin himself and are far superior than the convenience of actually seeing what is behind you.

    Anyone able to loot help crash sites yet?

    Pulled an AS-50 and a FN FAL yesterday, so yes it is working. You gotta really have a look aroudn the chopper though moving your mouse methodically to search the entire close area around the chopper. I've found loot close to the tail on teh ground, near the nose, near the doors etc. Most of the loot I've found at the crash sites were not visible at all until they were picked up and in my inventory.
  3. If there are gangs of armed bandits roaming the south coast, good. I never stay there anyways and those that do just haven't learnt yet that what they are doing is very predictable. I've never seen it as a big deal to be killed on the coast only to respawn immediately with very little lost. These bandits seem to be wasting their time and ammo camping the coast, perhaps they are just trying to farm kills for the farmer boards or something or maybe they think that people actually give a shit and are trying to grief I guess.

  5. I think it should be a combination of 2 items + toolbox to put one up. EX: To put up wire fence you need posts and barbed wire as well as a toolbox. Posts and barbed wire are consumed when used. Posts take up 2 slots and barbed wire 1. Seems to me that people just go to the nearest random doorway to put these down once they get them. I think having to carry around posts till you find barbed wire would maybe lessen this.
  6. Provided tent duping is fixed, I think it would take many many hours to setup a wormhole network considering you can't server hop to farm tents. Even if the time was invested, your network will only work for one server, unless you invest even more time to do another server. I dont' server hop and quit often it has taken me more than 5 hours to find a tent, I also play with usually 2 or 3 friends which generally speeds up looting. The real purpose of the suggestion though is that it will greatly lessen the impact of server hopping which I believe it will. If you spend 40 hours setting up a tent network, which nets you a total of 2 kills, then you get killed and lose all your spawns, I think people will be much less inclined to take the time to setup big wormhole networks. Even if wormhole networks were common, they would be a great improvement to the current server hopping issue IMO. If tents were server specific spawn points, I would imagine placing one near a high yield loot zone would put the spawner at quite a risk. I'm sure many players would camp tents near high yield zones as long as they were aware that a player could potentially spawn on that location. Quit possible that they would end up being flattened by vehicles as well. I dunno just my thoughts. I really think the suggestion of server specific tent spawns would reign in server hopping to a very acceptable level. Perhaps there could even be a 1 hour cooldown on using any tent spawn on a specific server.
  7. I started my current 7 day character with nothing but a bandage, painkillers and a flashlight. LIke I said you need to man up bro. This game wasn't designed to be an easy zombie shooting gallery (although it kind of still is, zombies still need some fixing so that they aren't as easy to exterminate) I read all your post, I also read the title "Making the game more difficult with the zombies still broken is just dumb" Perhaps you forgot what you wrote. If PVP upsets you so much, DayZ probably isn't the game for you. PVP in any mode in Arma is much less forgiving than other shooters. PVP is part of the core game concept of DayZ. In a sandbox PVP game, if someone wants to camp and shoot people with a sniper rifle for the lulz without looting them, that means the sandbox aspect is working. Do you not read patch notes? Every patch since 1.7.1 has includes changes to zombie behaviour/fixes. Just sayin *facepalm* yes i know those consist of method of detection (LOS' date='heaing) IM TALKING ABOUT THE ZOMBIES PHYSICS....there has not been a single patch since i played that dealt with the BS of that. [/quote'] There was recent changes to the physics of the hoppers (mocap change). Also zombies used to be able to see through terrain and walls (both fixed). If it's within the capabilites of the engine, i'm sure rocket will fix zombies walking through objects such as teh display cases in the supermarket. Really, go read the patch notes dating back to 1.7.1 you must either not have read them, or not understood what the changes were. IF your expecting zombies run speed to be nerfed or something, you are probably setting yourself up for dissapointment. The zombies need to run at superhuman speed since they can only melee you. Without their speed they will have no way of closing the gap and will be of no threat whatsoever to anyone with a gun. Zombie physics really do need to be fixed though, zombies need to be able to hit players while running. Currently you can kite a zombie indefinately and take no damage, which is another issue that makes zombies trivial at the moment.
  8. I really hope your vehicle, heli-point and bank ideas are never implemented in DayZ. I would definately stop playing. The other two don't appeal to me, but I wouldn't care either way if they were in the game. Certainly if animal companions were introduced I would hope that I could kill them. Would serve as a good warning to people treading on my turf.
  9. Perhaps the game could be coded so that you can only spawn where one of your tents is placed (maybe make a context menu option to share the spawn with your friends or w/e). If your spawning on the server you last played on, you can return to the actual location you spawned out from. When spawning on a server that isn't the last one you played on, you will be put on the beach (unless you have a tent spawn to use) Seems to me this would solve the loot farming and server hopping to get behind people issue. Keeping the character in the game world for X seconds after logout would solve d/c to avoid death. People could still exploit this to travel instantly from one tent to another (on different servers) but I think that exploit would have less of a negative impact than the current server hopping exploits.

    The Factory: A Hotspot?

    I would say it's a warm spot. Went there the other day and I'm glad we stopped to recon the treeline near the deer stand as there were 2 players camping the factory on the hill. You can pretty much watch Polana as well as the factory form that hill so I would imagine some people frequent the area to try to kill survivors.

    All of cherno is a hotspot. Factory can be dangerous, I think the firestation and hospital/apartments are probably the most dangerous areas though

    Trading posts and trading in general?

    This takes way too much risk out of the game imo. A big part of the enjoyment I take in this game is there is always potential danger. If you want to trade with someone, there should be a risk that he will take your life. You could always show up to trade with nothing but the item you want to trade and have your friends watch over the area for you for a certain amount of safety. I feel players should play to create safety if they wish to have it, instead of the game being coded to provide safe zones. Server hopping currently causes problems with players setting up any type of trading post, as well as causing a host of over problems. Should server hopping somehow be prevented, so that people can't log in to trading posts with grenade in hand, I think trading posts could be setup by the community in the game's current state without having a safe zone. There would of course be a big risk since bandits would view a trading post as a gold mine, yet I feel that these risks are what makes DayZ fun. Edit: My bad, I didn't read OP properly and thought you were suggesting a server safe zone. In the game's current state I have no suggestions on how players could setup a trading post and keep it safe since one or two bandits could just server hop into the trading post, drop nades/kill everyone (including themselves), then have theyr'e friends server hop in to loot all the corpses.

Where you were: Stary Sobor: well to the east of the supermarket What you were doing: Filling an empty water bottle *Current installed version: 1.7.1.5 dayz arma 2 beta 93965 *Server(s) you were on: UK5 *Your system specs: Seems like a server issue, I can provide specs if necessary *Timeline of events before/after error: I tried to fill my empty water bottle at a well and the animation played out. I tried this another time, with the same result. I figured there was a problem with that well in particular so began to leave the area. After moving about 20m from the well, the animation for filling the water bottle played out, and my water bottle was filled. This animation happened again a couple seconds later. I continued moving away from the well with my friends and once I was about 60-80m from the well I was teleported back next to the well, in teh same spot I was at when I tried to fill the bottle. I looked in my inventory to see if the bottle was still full (it was not). There was now 2 empty water bottles in my inventory. I dropped one of the bottles and tried moving away from the well again. At nearly the exact same distance from the well I was teleported again, next to the well. This time I only had 1 water bottle in my inventory, and it was full. I logged out after this.

    Ammo count isn't accurate after reconnect.

    I was also gettting full ammo after login playing 1.7.1.5 yesterday, on 3 different servers. 100% sure I didn't have full magazines when I logged out.

    Shit is gettin serious. How would you rather pay for it? - Game purchase only? (Guild Wars stylez) Also: - Community developed or studio developed? Either IDC. - Community or studio servers? or both? Both, provided that the community servers are under very strict rules. - Kickstarter? or not? Don't know what you mean here sorry I'm not totally opposed to the Free 2 play model, but nearly every free 2 play game atm is very far from being actually Free 2 play.

  23. Can't say I've played an alpha or a beta where a patch was rolled back due to a bug. Pretty sure Rocket isn't looking to break the mold on this one.
