Well I understand where you are coming from as I started playing DayZ solo then stopped playing entirely because of the incentives already in the game to team up. I started playing again when some of my friends got into it. The thing is, currently we are a group of 7, and we shoot on sight. It seems to me that to change the kill on sight issue, there would have to be an incentive to not kill on sight. Currently there is an incentive to kill on sight (you can loot them). I think flipping this backwards would dramatically alter the game, not sure if I'd like it myself. That's not to say i'm entirely against a massive change like this, I would have to try it out to know. -

Teaming already provides: -The ability to use bloodbags -The ability to use epipens -More firepower -More eyes -The abillity to bandage a friend that is unconcious -Having a friend watch over the area while you loot -Sharing tents -Sharing vehicles -Sharing ammo -Only 1 person on your team needs tools for your whole team to benefit. -More inventory space while looting. I think teaming is fine personally. I don't team with random people since I have friends to play with and I am kind of opposed to having incentives to team with random people since it's quite likely I'll get shot in the back at some point. Even with the changes you mentioned, I would still only team with the same people and not randoms. -
You use them when your player starts coughing.

okay let me break it down why youre wrong in one single point; 1. you can't use 1st person view from arma 2 IRL. That is unless you have some type of condition where you lack peripheral vision. -

I was pointing out that 3dp could actually be seen as more realistic than 1st person since there is technology in RL that allows you to look around corners. Look through this thread and notice that those that support the removal of 3dp generally say: oh 3dp is cheating you can look around corners, that's so unrealistic. If someone said hey, you can't take a shit in this game that's unrealistic. I would agree that is unrealistic. I definately wouldn't suggest that we as players would have to take a shit every so often for the sake of realism. -

How is it nitpicking that people have been able to see around corners for over 100 hundred years, yet in this game there's a crowd of people that believe seeing around corners is something that is beyond the scope of reality? -

The main argument people are presenting for removing 3rd person view is that you can see around corners and it's unrealistic. IRL you can not only see around corners through use of mirrors/periscope, you can shoot around them without ever exposing yourself. Periscopes were used back in WW1 to shoot from trenches while remaining in the trench. Taking into consideration this technology, couldn't it be said that 3dp is more realistic, since this RL technology is non-existent in the game? -

Those kids get easy loot by looking around corners. Fuck them I'm jelly.

Yeah not like this mod will never be for sale or anything. Not like 300 000 people aren't already playing the mod and will probably buy it. I'm sure Rocket would love to cut that 300 000 in half because some 1st person enthusiasts got their panties in a bunch. The question isn't what I bring to the mod at all. The question is why don't you understand that the mod will eventually be a commercial product and losing potential customers will hurt it.

All of the popular arma 2 servers I have seen since I bought the game years ago have been 3dp. I guess there's alot of console players that still haven't figured out to configure their clients after months and years then. YOu know, it wouldn't be that 1st person is kind of crappy in arma2.

I lol'd when I read the guy above stating 3rd person is an exploit. Generally when people refer to "exploits" in video games, what they are describing is people that exploit a game bug/glitch. 3rd person view was an intended game mechanic and is not a bug. We are all free to exploit the game's legitimate functions, just like exploiting the fact that players can't see dick when proned in the grass in first person. Or exploiting the fact that you can't see what is behind you when your in a vehicle in first person. Either way removing 3rd person would greatly harm this mod and is a bad idea. Having servers running both 3rd and 1st person is fine.

Well, being able to use m107 mags definately seals it I thought they were different ammo and figured the as50 ones would only drop at crash sites thanks for the info guys, never really played with the as-50 in arma 2

I'd like to see power stations have a use in DayZ. Ideas: Players can go to a power station and flip switches to activate them. Over time the power stations will be turned off again, maybe due to zombies or some other reasoning. The power station status would be unique for each server. Possible effects of turning on the power station: -Functional gas pumps. -Lights in some of the buildings in cities (would probalby make night playing more friendly to players without nvg's) Kind of doubting this idea is worth implementing since it doesn't seem like having power in Chernarus will do much. Thought just crossed my mind when thinking about a post from rocket most likely joking about adding generators that could be used to bring gas pumps to life. Either way I think it would be nice for players to have a location based goal that isn't "go here to get 'x' loot".
