  1. You misinterpreted my saying, it was focused on the players who only care about the realism factors, beyond reasoning levels. If they care about realism so much, they should perhaps stop playing the game. There's just some features that might take away from the 'realism' in order to promote a slightly more cooperative setting within the game. Because right now, the only way you can assure yourself to have an actual "legit" cooperative experience is if you metagame (ventrilo, teamspeak, playing with friends outside of the game). That is a huge sign that something is wrong within the game.
  2. I completely agree with the flaws you have mentioned. It's just in deathmatch state right now, there's no reason to deny it. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on you. While we want the freedom of banditing, there should be severe features that punish the bandit for committing a murder. Realism? No, get off your silly high horse of realism inside a video game, you want the game to be the authentic style of post apocolypse, thus you add features that make it feel more authentic, however if you need to add features that would support a cooperative experience which deducts the so called "realism" then it must be done for the sake of the GAME, which it is and will always be. If you want "realism" so badly, get off your computer. Guess what? You betray a person once, okay, you got his loot and goodies. That person will most likely shoot everyone on sight from then on. "Can't trust anyone mentality" is what ruins this game and will be the downfall if nothing would be done about it. I do not feel motivated to start DayZ again primarily based on this reason, you run / sneak / crawl for hours, collect goods, random guy shoots you, start over. It is almost impossible now to have at least a half-decent co-op experience unless you grab a few people before joining the game, and if you must do that in order to have an actual co-op experience within this game, then it is obviously done wrong. There should be features in-game that allow some way to trust some other survivors, it would help motivate a co-op experience. "No gun, spawn, this should motivate co-op experience?" Haha, no, that would just motivate coastal hunting for trolling and griefing players. Most of the players shoot other players on sight just for the fun's sake, they know there's no real punishment for them putting a bullet into someone, so why should they worry? You shoot someone on sight, you lose nothing (karma doesn't do crap right now), you don't shoot someone and you have the risk on losing everything, so yes, it is a logical argument to shoot everyone you meet on sight. Thus, the game still needs MAJOR change to switch this mentality of the common player.
  3. Chaotic Good If I shoot a bandit, I only hope that they fall unconscious first before they die. That way I can come up to their body, put my nuts in their face, take out my axe, and chop em to pieces.
  4. PvE and PvP servers would be the easy way to do this. An advanced way to do this would be to concentrated on the HUMANITY SYSTEM, alot, and figure out how to code in something that actually works. If there was a clear distinction between a good karma person and a bad karma person, also on how you lose karma points (such as murdering someone in self defense should not lower your karma). It will force the bandits to be cast out from the rest, which is required for balance, because the bandit will ALWAYS have the FIRST shot. Then we wouldn't need PvP and PvE servers, a good karma system would fix all of this. But it will be difficult to code in a good karma system that actually works.
  5. You don't get punished for DCing, they will however work on fixing the exploit. Banning people over such an exploit is the lazy way to solve the problem. And lets face it, the bandits/snipers have the advantage of not being identified by the common survivor due to crappy systems such as bandit skins and heart beatings being not finished yet, so in a way, that is an exploit as well, that's why people shoot on sight anyway, there's no real consequence for committing a murder. So it's all in fair game, cry less, it's Alpha. Much still needs fixing.
  6. Don't rush em, come on now, do you REALLY want a broken update that breaks more things than it fixes? No. Let them take as much time needed to make it work as fine as possible.

    Shoot on Sight

I'm sure Rocket realizes that the shoot on sight type mentality due to no identification is a problem to be worked on. After all, he did add heart beating faster when looking at bandits (ect) definitely an unfinished feature, still need lots of work to make "co-op" with random players more frequent while drawing a distinct yet subtle line between "co-op survivors" and "solo or group bandits". The bandit skins, the heart beating faster are all tests he is taking in order to find the ideal solution, just give it time and hopefully this current 'death match system" will be lowered with some sort of valid karma identification.
  8. Like fuck' date=' its an engine exploit, stop spouting your rubbish. @"Weedmasta": You clearly didn't read the thread, people are putting the wire down where you cannot get into a position to remove it, ignorance is bliss. [/quote'] Yeah he is an idiot. It is an exploit and it makes it easier for players to server hop to collect loot from hot spots.

    PvP

Basically, the PvP in this game isn't finished yet. It's just a free for all right now.
  10. 1. It will help new players to better understand what they are doing / where they are going. 2. Most people use 3rd party maps in order to find out where they are and where to go, (don't lie about it, I know 99% of the people use it.) 3. The common citizen / household has at least some sort of map / GPS, thus it would result it in being a common item. 4. People lose motivation for 3rd party maps. 5. People lose motivation for 3rd party maps. 6. Gives people equal advantage to those who are not using 3rd party maps.
  11. Game purchase only. Studio developed, (the community doesn't know what they want most of the time)
  12. I felt guilty a few times, when I realise I shot the wrong person during a gun fight. But you know, most bandits don't care who they shoot, they just shoot. Because this is a game, and no matter how much you will try to make it 'realistic," people will not roleplay a real-life situation.
  13. YES Just like in many films / real life events, you can tell / feel something's fucked up with the person.
  14. The way the things are right now, you'd probably just get shot in the back while writing your journal.
  15. This is probably just a testing zone for Rocket, the real DayZ mod is waiting for Arma 3. At least I hope so.
  16. Too early for this, game's still in alpha, it still has many basic foundations it needs fixing before thinking about adding new features.
  17. Everyone chooses cop and shoots other players to steal their kits while they're unarmed. Worst. Idea. Ever.
  18. Just increase spawn rate of a common handgun within houses and all is good. I like the challenge, do make the zombies more and more challenging. Make them so challenging that eventually players would fear zombies more than each other. That should be the key element to this game, not just PvP, it will give more reason to team up with others rather than just shooting them on sight.
