  1. Hello, I use the Six Launcher to constantly keep my DayZ up-to-date. However, I been having troubles joining other Arma 2 servers (with different mods) such as Takistan Life. It would keep saying that I need to uninstall the DayZ files in order to join the server or register new keys..? I then tried joining a CTI game mode server and it would say the exact same thing. So how do I play other game modes with DayZ installed, is there a way to temporarily disable it?
  2. How can you tell if a server has Side Chat in-game or if it doesn't? I know many don't prefer side chat, but with the broken karma system, side chat is the only way to find a reason why "not" shoot someone within a distance away from you. I know some servers have the 3RD: ON /OFF CH: ON /OFF and NT: ON / OFF 3RD: obviously 3rd person view CH: ??? (Chat??) NT: Night time Those are my guesses
  3. Ooh, thanks, so how can I tell which servers have side chat enabled?
  4. Hahaha, thank you for the translation, now I understand.
  5. lol, right, when 99% of the population of the city I live in turns into some mindless canabalistic creatures, I'm going to run around with a pistol and shoot every rare survivor that I encounter on sight. SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN! *suffers from massive retardation*
  6. A feature similar to this already exists, it's the karma system, and it's not finished yet. Maybe they'll add more punishing effects to the bandits so they think twice before taking a shot. Marking bandits would be the ideal solution, because at first, they are the hunters, after they get marked, they are the ones being hunted. Such as bandit skins or heart beating effects when someone points the crossairs at him. However the karma system isn't accurate as it stands now, for even in self defense, you might get marked as a murderer. I do agree some of the points you have mentioned, about players stop taking this game seriously, and for the most part, it's just shits and giggles to shoot other players on sight and steal their crap. However, I do not agree on "everything you kill has a mental effect on your character", that's a bit extreme, killing zombies should be fine, killing the "mentally unstable" aka, bandits, should also not have any mental effects to your character, because you are only protecting yourself. As it stands, only survivors are punished by playing "friendly", while the bandits get to walk around and take advantage of these friendly players until eventually all of these friendly players turn into bandits as well.
  7. That was hilarious, that guy was pretty horrid.
  8. Because karma system is broken. Just play some other game until it gets fixed.
  9. I give you 5 stars sir, That's something I've been addressing all along and you listed them all in order, great job. I hope this fix will be soon, because as it is now, without metagaming, DayZ is a pretty boring game to play.
  10. Question: How do you salute in-game? And would you kill a person if he salutes toward you? Just want to see what the average reaction would be.
  11. Read my post. This game has much more to offer than just PvP, and that more is "co-op" experience without metagaming, what you are doing with your buddies over vent does not "simulate" a zombie apocalypse. Yeah, I guess it's perfectly normal for you to wake up amongst the coastal rivers during an apocalypse and immediately know who your buddies are from miles away. How pathetic. The karma system is being worked on anyway, why do you think Rocket tested out bandit skins and now heart beating features? To find the ideal solution that would stop the "shoot on sight" mentality.
  12. I mentioned before that even a little bit of logical thinking would provide you with the information why people continue creating this forum posts. I guess I must hand-feed this information to you. Meet Bob, Bob is a brand new player, he saw a few videos on YouTube and now he wants to play DayZ because he found it an interesting concept. He joins a server and runs straight into zombies and gets eaten alive, after a few days, he learns how to successfully crawl about within the cities and not attract zombies while searching for loot. Bob manages to pick up one of his favorite weapons, a semi-automatic sniper rifle. While crawling about he suddenly meets Dan, Dan salutes him and Bob salutes back. They become best buddies, they go out fighting zombies together and picking up loot. All of the sudden Dan shoots Bob in the back to obtain some ammo because he was running low. Bob is confused at what has happened. Bob respawns and loses trust in other players, while searching for loot, he points his weapon at Ryan, who is running away from zombies, he thinks to himself weather to shoot him or not, due to him being betrayed already by Dan. He decides to leave Ryan alone, however Ryan suddenly spots Bob and shoots him on sight because he wanted someone else to share his misery. Now Bob is really frustrated, he gives up hope on trusting others. He adapts the "kill or be killed" mentality, and starts shooting everyone on sight. Bob while already killing many other players, he meets a fresh spawn, a brand new player, his name is Billy, Bob shoots Billy on sight because he trusts no one. Billy is confused on what has just happened. Eventually Billy gets killed several times and he becomes just like Bob, also adapting this "shoot on sight" mentality. Now multiply this by hundreds and hundreds of times and what do you have? If the only way to find a "legit" group in this game is by the forums or contacting players you already know, then there's a serious "trust" issue going amongst the community, it's too extreme, to the point where eventually majority of the players adapt the "shoot on sight" mentality, thus hurting the co-op experience. This game should promote a co-op experience with random players just as much as it promotes PvP amongst random players. Forums and friends squads is called "metagaming" and if the majority use metagaming to set up alliances / squads / buddies, then there's obviously something missing within the game. That something is the broken karma system. Until the karma system is fixed, most people would shoot on sight. There is no punishment for committing a murder right now, you have nothing to lose, but everything to gain, it's "fun" to troll people in game, make them lose all their hard earned gear with a single shot from miles away. However, if they do not shoot, they will not gain anything, only risk their own lives in the long run. Therefore, it makes no sense why NOT to murder someone. A working karma system (major emphasis on WORKING) would divide the PvP focused bandits amongst the good natured survivores. Thus motivating a co-op experience bandits with other bandits and survivors with other survivors. If people enjoy going alone, then it would be also a completely fine idea. Because as it stands, a bandit can easily identify their targets, while a survivor cannot. They will always have the first shot, they will always have the first kill. And the funny part is that these bandits think they are "good" because they take out a survivor that is unsure about them being an enemy or a friendly within a single shot. Most of these survivors don't even get a chance to shoot back unless you are a crappy bandit with horrible aim.
  13. #22 Always remember to reload your hatchet before going into melee combat.
  14. I don't think I really want the bandit skin to be back. I like this new feature they added which is much more subtle, the heart beating, however right now it's total crap. 40 meters for you to start hearing these heart beats? Are you joking me? I have to be up this guy's face, sniff his ass, and then observe it in order for me to find out who he is?? It needs much longer range, that if you aim at him to the point where his name pops up on the screen, you could then start hearing your heart beats if you have a bad feeling about this guy. If this gets fixed, the heart beats are much better way and don't ruin the immersion, and much more "realistic" than a bandit changing his clothes after killing 5 players. It's the inner sense of the survivor that tells him something wrong with this guy.
  15. Yes, it is BS, "It's not realistic," bitch please, most people shoot on sight PRIMARILY because the game ISN'T realistic. As the way things are right now, bandits will ALWAYS win, they get the first shot, if they are not a crappy shot, you will never get a chance to even think twice. At least bandit skins gave clear targets, even if it was flawed. So yes, it is much worse now. The deathmatching that is.

I like how this guy is trying to set up some RP and all people care about is shooting him and disrupting his ideas. I can't wait until the karma system is finally fixed, all you bandits that think you're good just because you get the first shot will be finally marked, hunted, and eaten for dinner.
  17. 12. Everybody is a zombie. Every...body....except yourself. You are the lone survivor.
  18. Sad to see so many people lost faith in random occurrences, my goal is to befriend a player within the game without the horrid "squad making' in forums. If you really have to metagame (aka): use the forums to gain trustworthy companions, where's the fun in that? I understand the karma system being broken, you can't tell who's truly a bandit and who's a survivor. But in my taste, nothing beats the experience you get when you befriend some stranger in the middle of no where and not get shot in the back. Those are the experiences that I, personally, remember and am proud sharing.
  19. but PVP isn't or shouldn't be the main focus in dayz which saddly it is, also I do which karma does bite all the "hardcore" bandits in the ass when some hacker comes along uses their guid and gets it banned. and you know what I wouldn't die in a real apoc because of my friendlyness, most likely I'd be in a guard post and be over run by zeds at the dawn of the out break. You're such a piece of shit. "Wah wah wah, I hate bandits.. I hope a hacker gets them banned!". Are you fucking kidding me? You're a pathetic carebear, you have no idea how to play this game, and you should quit. I sincerely hope they make this game even MORE pro-bandit, so I can hear you whine more, because everybody would like a cup full of your tears. You would die in the real apoc. Because i'd kill you. You whiney little bitch. I love these "intellectuals" that assume people cannot be trusted before any sort of communication takes place thus perpetuating the ignorant opinion that everything must die. What I find even more humorous is the hardcore leet pvp crowd insulting people willing to help/work with others and be accused of not knowing how to play the game. To those guilty of this you clearly dont get it. In regards to the OP this is an inherent issue that emerges when game design does not have a precise consequence/reward system in place to guide player behavior. In DayZ there is zero consequence for killing fellow survivors therefore "why try" is the attitude most players have adopted. Besides you want to keep your stuff and you always want more stuff! why work hard for it? why work with others and have to share it when Its easier to be selfish? Besides its funny killing people that are no threat to you and proclaiming yourself amazing! The players that simply accept the current design are the ones that feel everyone else should conform to it and accept it or "deal with it" However, players of a certain intellect are questioning the game design as it is clearly creating a massive divide in the community... if you can even call it a community at this point lets be honest. What confuses me is that I see a lot of work being put into zombie ai and balancing focused around the fresh spawn experience. I have seen no strides taken to curtail the rampant murdering and general lack of cooperation. The "what would you do in real life" scenario is quite old and void of any merit quite honestly. Its an excuse that is used to rationalize behavior that would otherwise be considered unacceptable. Its a game that people have invested their money in and want to be entertained, survivors and bandits alike. A lot of the new players to the mod seem to think the main focus of the game is gear up by exploiting poorly implemented loot mechanics and go kill everything that moves no questions asked. If you question that you wrong! Would you buy a game like that if you saw it on a store shelf? Im sure a great deal of us were brought here by watching gameplays on youtube of the survival experience (I know I was). Had I instead seen gameplay of new spawn/ poorly geared players being shot for lols aka actual gameplay, I would have kept my $30 in my pocket as Im sure quite a few others would have as well. /myopinion Good job, that's exactly my point that I'm trying to share as well with others. For the most part they understand even if they act ignorant. Rocket knows that the karma system is still isn't working as intended, that's why he called it an "unfinished feature" It should be on the high priority to fix, because as it stands, the bandits will always have the first shot and the first kill. Leaving you no choice but to do the same to others. Heart beating system is too short ranged, by the time you get close enough, the bandit would take you out from a distance. The karma system in general isn't very accurate, for it gives you a "murder" even if you kill someone in self defense. The game should motivate co-op experience along with PvP. That way you get PvP bandit groups with bad karma, you get the survivors with good karma, and you get solo players that do not team up with anyone. The reason this isn't working right now, is because it is literally impossible to tell who's a bandit and who's a survivor.
