  1. Long shot I know but "we" are hunting an asshat that needs to be repeatedly shot in the noggin but like a coward he's done a runner from our server. Is there any way to track the yellow bellied varmint and find out which server he might now be on ?
  2. {sas}stalker

not banned from Dayz but from a server.

just as a side note, are you trawling logs yourself or is there some form or parser available ?

    Abort Cowards

http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=12832&pid=168354#pid168354 You can ban them according to Griff.

    Disconnecting to avoid death

Personally' date=' banning a player for anything other than hacking is not realistic in a game mod based on SURVIVAL. Since I began playing the game, I just came to understand that the whole purpose of the game was to survive, plain and simple. I really don't care if players server hop, loot farm, or disconnect during a fight (even if I am engaged with them), since ultimately they are only doing the same thing I am trying to do - survive. If you cannot take down your enemy in a couple of shots, they disconnect, come back, and then kill you; well IMO I do believe you deserved to be killed. Simply put, make a good headshot, and it doesn't matter what weapon you possess, it will take them down (that is if you are not "lagging" at the time). [/quote'] The problem is you're not surviving, you're abusing an exploit / cheating.

    Disconnecting to avoid death

We can faff about thinking of ways to stop it but tbh there's only really one true deterrent and that's to start banning the lame ass clownboots.

    Disconnecting to avoid death

They join other servers, move to new locations behind you, then rejoin your server and kill you. We've had several of the dicks doing it on our server and it needs resolving ASAP as its getting old fast and removing any enjoyment out of pvp.
  7. Your gear is logged on the hive, restarting the server wouldn't make any difference other than to despawn the dead bodies. Why do people think that server hosts can mystically "roll back", they can't.
  8. I think there's something wrong with the hive atm. We also have had this

    Can you server admins...

We try to when possible (UK22) but like now for instance I've just had to reboot it without message. Currently not able to join the server and post a message and the RCON program was ignoring all messages sent so I had no way of actually telling anyone in the server.

Info wanted about buying server spots.

I would start here; http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9427 Read that and it should give you a decent idea of what you are looking at.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Its not really, its rather quite bad/sad that an OP is so aggressive in its nature when its based on zero known fact and all on assumption. This is the exact thing I've hinted at in other threads, something happens and the user base immediately think of the worst possible reason to explain the symptoms of their problems. I'm only shocked though that the OP didn't target his epic rage at the hosts and not the devs which seems to be the usual stand point. Seriously what is happening to people ? Is a game all some people have ? if its off line go out out ffs, mow the lawn or something but dont emotionally implode over TCP/IP.
  12. I dont think any server host would ever claim they host for the "flowing gratitude of the community". If anything being a server host places you in a position dislike targeted with an endless torrent of derogatory abuse. We've been hosting games for the public for over 10 years and I can count on one hand how many people have popped in to say "thanks" or make a donation, on the other hand I've lost count of how many times some crying child has called me "son". {SAS} do it because it promotes our group and because we bought our box a couple of years ago and our hosting costs arent that much. Do we mind that we cant kick for members ? a little perhaps but its not a massive biggy because even in other games many of us would join the queue to join just like everyone else. You build communities not by lording it over your server but by people seeing you in game being a gent and a good group and they want to be part of that, thats how you increase your revenue not from one off donations imho. All that aside there are improvements in the current dev/host relationship that imho need to be implemented that would without doubt make many people feel far less at the bottom of the pile.

    Server Hosting Blues

There are many valid reasons to lock a server, 1 being to prevent the massive lag caused by 10s of people trying to connect at once. We lock ours sporadically for a couple of mins to negate this issue. There's even a BEC rcon plugin that does it for you, it wont get you black listed. The rules are strict but the Devs aren't idiots.

    Servers advertise as 1.7.1.2 but...

most servers have rolled back to 1.7.1.1 due to 1.7.1.2 crashing them after several mins. Whats likely happened is that hosts have forgotten to change their cfg files to reflect the roll back.

    Pending Hotfix: Build 1.7.1.3

    Thanks Mr. R :)
  16. {sas}stalker

    EU9 Admins are pussies.

you cant roll back items with a server restart, Jesus Christ.

    WARNING: 1.7.1.2 is Crashing Servers!

    same here @ UK 22
  18. The current hotfix 1.7.1.2 is repeatedly crashing the server and I have stopped restarting it until {SAS}Nutta gets chance to look at it and roll it back. Apologies for the inconvenience. Back up running 1.1.7.1

Dallas 48 locked with TOP members

Sooner or later every single one of us will have our server listed in this forum because sooner or later someone will accuse you of doing something. The forum, whilst a decent idea desperately needs an information post stickied ( like the bugs forum ) that lists information and clears up a few "myths". So many people have no clue about how the servers work and what a host can actually do. Prime example being "zomg I killed an adminz and they rebooted their server to admin their gear back". New threads should me moderated also.
  20. Can anyone offer any help on this I get this on screen for about 10 seconds on each load. Date/Time: Today 18.06.2012 @ 17:20BST What happened: See above image Where you were: In a forest quite some way from all you bean eaters What you were doing: Nothing of any worth, just logged in *Current installed version: 1.7.1.1 with OA Beta 1.60.93825 *Server(s) you were on: UK22 {SAS}. This is our server but its the same on all servers. *Your system specs: 2600K/Asus P68-V Pro/16 Gig Corsair XMP1866 / AMD5870 / Win7 Pro *Timeline of events before/after error: 1.7.1.0 Was fine, 1.7.1.1 is like that

Kicking of Players for Clan members

I have questions regarding the temp locking of servers, its often required to prevent massive BW spiking when several people join at once, is it ok to do this ?
