I think the problem with these posts (and the flaming that follows) is that people are complaining about the very same things the rest of us experienced, but overcame. We kept at it and persevered, and we enjoy being a part of the testing process. If people don't like it, they can stop playing instead of bitching continuously on the forum. There is a difference between giving feedback that will help the mod improve and mindless moaning about how the devs suck at making games and such. As to jjkjwo...you're an idiot. There is no reasoning with people like you, I've found. People throw around "alpha" because that's exactly what it is. This was developed as a FREE MOD for a full game that is separate. Standalone was not thrown around until after the explosion in popularity. Even if you were right (you're not), there are many people like myself (and I dunno, every fucking person playing) that are happy to be participating in an open alpha/ beta test. If they decided to close it now until it was finished, you and all your whiny ilk would shit your little panties over it. People like you should get banned from the forum and get a global ban on the mod. If you want to play it, you can pay for it when the full game is released.

[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!

Go to Skalka mountain and head east on any server. Actually, you could go west to the forest and run south as well. They're everywhere. -

Sounds like a death I could live with. -
How about leaving a trace/note ingame?
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to CookieJar's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
All you did was bump a dead thread lol. Funny how many people got this brilliant idea the day War Z was announced. -
I respect that request, but it really isn't in the spirit of Rocket's vision for the mod. Not to mention that'd take time and resources away from making the mod better for those masochists like me that want the game to be difficult. Too many games these days basically keep you alive and happy no matter how bad you are. it's refreshing to see a game that makes the player actually work hard to get better and become a self sufficient survivor.

DayZ in a nutshell

I am taking your beans for this. -
I henceforth put forward the notion on this, the official forum to wipe all tents, these duplicated tents full of super rare stuff are stealing the little magic this mod still holds for me. I used to care about dying, and finding a ghillie suit was freaking amazing. Now I stumble across tents in obvious places (sometimes in clusters of ten or more), packed full of NVGs and all other top tier gear. I love participating in the refinement of what I believe will be a great game, but it's going to be tough to continue if there are no stakes to gamble on every time I make a choice in the mod. I really miss the adrenaline rush I used to get when spotting another player or even pondering an airfield run. I could nerf myself and not access other people's tents, but putting myself at a disadvantage when the mod is saturated with bushmen that can see in the dark and have infinite supplies doesn't really appeal to me either... TL;DR- The caches maintained by duping douchers are ruining the game. Wipe all tents now, and periodically (announce when so people can get the items they want to keep out and equipped) up to retail release. You should have to work hard for that gear, not be able to dupe 30 tents full of top tier gear. Also, for the folks who don't read past the topic title, this is suggested to be done after the duplication is fixed.

Exactly. It's not a game you just hop in and tear shit up in. This is not the empowering, you are A GOD style game. You are mortal, survival is not guaranteed. I had my tough times at the start, even reading up on the mod and watching youtube for a few days before I purchased Arma didn't prepare me for the difficulty and frustration. There are not enough games that actually challenge you anymore, and I'm sick of seeing people piss and moan to try and make it easier. Seriously, quitcherbitchin' and get better. Do some fucking research before jumping in the game facefirst to try and set a world record for eating zombie dicks.

Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Again, I don't think the problem solves itself without the wipe, I need to take some screen shots to put things into perspective. I discussed it earlier in the thread, but basically I don't see the items gradually disappearing since gear in this game is recycled. That guy whose tent is no longer manufacturing 20 ghillies and NVGs per restart will be killed by other players, who will most often loot his body and then again and again and again. Without the wipe the fraudulent items will be in circulation for much longer than necessary. -
Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Still waiting on a reply about the current percentage of players with the formerly rare items compared to back in early June. Though this probably not reflect the thousands of duped items in tents littering the landscape, it'll still be interesting to see. -
[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
So uh....that a no go on current stats? Also, is it possible to see the number of items in tents? Like the total number of ghillies, nvgs, and other "rare" items actually in the mod? -
[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Hey guys, I was wondering if we might be able to see the current percentage of players with rare loot compared to when you last posted the numbers. All the duped tents with dozens of rare items I come across seem to me to be a major balance issue. I created a thread with the suggestion to wipe all tents once the duplication glitch is resolved, and there are many people that simply do not have the in game experience to determine how large this problem really is. So if you have time to do it, thanks in advance! -
Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh look, another guy (two, with Boomstick) that didn't read past the thread title. Taso, why would it bother you that I'm treating this like a conversation? I could do what most people do, ie: create the thread, flame the first two people that disagree, never look at the thread again. However, I will continue to reply to whomever I fucking please, you bizarre forum Nazi you. ;) -

Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Stated on the first page that this would be useless if the dupe hadn't been fixed. You either have a good few hundred reasons you're against this in some tents somewhere, or you detest the thought of me sleeping at all tonight. -
Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Last post before I crash....those items would not deplete entirely as they most often would be looted by the player who kills you, and on and on and on. Nobody running around in a ghillie and NVGs with all that other candy is dying to zombies, I'll tell you that much. I am not exaggerating when I say I've seen multiple encampments of 10, 20, and once even 30+ tents with dozens of these items in each. So I don't think the problem solves itself, no. -
You lazy bastard lol! Copy and pasting your own posts...

Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Many of these tents are in high traffic areas like the hills around Cherno so the dupers can re-gear after they get killed in PVP. -
Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, as the duplicated tents would still spawn with their contents. I'm sure the fix will not zap existing tents, only prevent the dupe from occurring moving forward. Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno. Also, (and I'm starting to think you skipped the first page here) I mentioned earlier that I thought the tent dupe was addressed with this patch. -

You realize they have finite resources and a small team though right? Do you know how the development process works? -
Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not sure you've seen the tents I have man. I think the NVG figure for players used to be something like 3%, I am sure it's much higher now. Not to mention the hundreds I personally have seen in tents on many different servers. Also, not uncommon for me to find a tent (or several tents with identical inventories) with 20+ ghillies, satchel charges, rangefinders, gps, M136 ammo, etc. You're right though, I would like to see the numbers to see what people are equipped with nowadays but it still wouldn't be indicative of the total number of duped items that need to disappear. I'll see if we can get some updated percentages tomorrow when I wake up, I am barely conscious right now lol. -
Wipe all tents...
Sgt Abraham Ford replied to Sgt Abraham Ford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As long as you don't duplicate those items like a complete toolbox, yeah. Totally cool. Why wouldn't it be? That's why I specifically said this is only for when tent duping has been fixed, smartypants.
