I think it's server based. So everyone can see marks someone made. Like on one server. All hospitals and supermarkets were marked for me and on the other server I saw on the same map all heli crash sides marked. I help marking too and always mark supermarkets and make a big marker at the NW Airfield saying "DEATH!" I think you can't remove them but they get removed when the server restarts. -

How do you know? Maybe it's just some months or weeks. Look at the dead soldier bodies lying at military locations and in towns. They're not just skeletons :D

Yep. Happend to me yesterday. I was proning and making my way through the town when suddenly a zombie from the other side of the town aggros me. I was in a building and when he reached the entrance he just went normal again and walked away O.o -
Most of the bandits here would anyway not survive a single day after a zombie apocalyse. Neither they would be able to shoot at another person. Those are people who play this game as a GAME! Though arma 2 is a military shooter simulator and DayZ is supposed to be a apocalypse survival simulator. It's supposed to simulate your real life! Get back to shitty CoD bandits! Anyway back to the topic: You would rather stay together with another survivor than kill him for a can of beans. There would be many psychological things IRL. You would go crazy if you're alone and manage to survive for a few weeks or even days.

I think running towards everyone you see isn't the right way. Many will see you as a danger if you run straight towards them and will shoot you. I would recommend playing the normal style and not run in every group of players you see... -
The military weapons and weapons in general (except the hatchet) aren't that common. I've never found a decent gun besides military shotguns like the Remington. Military tents have a rate of like 2% of spawning something usefull? It all depends on lucky. If you lower the spawn rate of items there will be just more people whining...

Shouldn't be that hard. I have a 500$ laptop and have no problems with playing DayZ / ARMA 2 on normal settings.

Yeah when you spawn or login you can see your location at the right corner. It should say: "Chenarus ; Day 1,2,3,... [Location]" Example: Chenarus Day 1 Elektrozavodsk Then when you know where you and your buddies are you can use the map to find each other or if you bought the game via steam use an interactive map like this here. And a tipp for you. If you enter big towns like Elektro or Cherno always be prepared to die, cause many noobs and snipers are there killing each other.

So I just updated the ARMA 2 beta and DayZ to version 1.7.2. Now when I join any server and login I just get a black screen and sometimes I can see for a second. It's basically like 10 seconds blackscreen, 1 second I can see, then 10 seconds blackscreen again. However I can move and access my inventory. Also I can drop stuff. And the debug monitor isn't showing up as well. Is there a problem with the main server atm or what am I doing wrong? I don't wanna respawn with all the loot I got by now. Will this bug be fixed soon?

It's Alpha. The connection sometimes goes poopy and you char won't be saved during that time. Happens to me sometimes as well.

I mean that it sometimes dosen't turn on for me. It was night time, pitch black and I was sitting in an appartment trying to turn the flashlight on so I can find the loot...
