    Happy Birthday Rocket

Wow, the community telling a Developer to take it easy and not work? DayZ really is changing the gaming world.... :)
  2. Rockets already said he plans to introduce different skins for different levels of humanity. Some players have already been given the British Soldier skin with red beret to test for high humanity skins.

    1920x1080 FoV

I've read a little about the arma 2 fov settings, just wondering if anyone has any recommended fov settings for a 1920x1080 res? Right now it pretty much feels like my eyeballs are on poles sticking out of my face. I've no interest in making sure it keeps to "realism" which is basically the guideline of the fov link given in the Tweak guide on this forum, but just make it comfortable to play on. Thanks

    Night time

On servers that aren't desynced it still get's that dark sometimes, and with HDR on Low, everything is pitch black apart from the sky.

    DayZ Screenshot competition winner

Blurred? Check to make sure your 3D Resolution matches your Screen Resolution. If they don't match it gets blurry.

How do you find the Helicrashes? We've managed to find two heli wrecks so far, but after saving them, neither were there after a restart. Feel free to PM me if you know of any likely places to check without it being completely public :D

    Reverse Real Time servers

Same on a lot of EU tz servers. I'm tired of logging in when it's pitch black, every evening that I play it tends to be pitch black to the point where all I can see are the stars. Anything else is blackest of black. Being forced to use chemlights isn't fun and takes alot away from the sense of being a stealthy survivor in an apocalyptic world just trying to get by. Instead I glow bright green and may as well be running in circles scream "BITE ME SHOOT ME PLEASE ME"

    [GUIDE] Gear/Inventory

Scroll wheel, Open the backpack. Open your backpack. Swap the items from your backpack into the backpack on the floor using the < > arrow keys in the inventory window. Pick up backpack. Voila!

    Friendly fire off server!?

Sick of seeing these threads. The potential player hostility is a massive part of this game, and what makes it a SURVIVAL game ultimately. The PvP isn't a FEATURE, it's a core part of the game.

    Just wanted to say...

I like it as much and I know it inside out. So, statement = false.
  12. Spending 3 days collecting the best gear possible, playing EXTREMELY cautiously, acting as if I'm constantly being followed by other players, only to die when I spot someone facing the opposite direction, quickly turn the corner, shoot him in the head then drop to the floor and die as it was apparently lagged out in those few moments. Being in cherno with sick gear, being very cautious again. My friend alerts zombies, so while he rushes across the large field to the hospital ladders, I play safe and just lay down and tuck myself away into a corner, only for one of the zombies chasing him to glitch through the wall, run me over, killing me instantly.

    Getting shot through walls

Is it possible the shots were coming through the small window that looks over the stairs? You can see the top set of steps through that window from the ground, and you can see the lower set of steps from the tower on the other side of the airfield.

    Non-lethal weapons and traps.

Rubber bullets that knock people into the 'unconscious' state (before anyone says 'but rubber bullets dont knock you unconscious', the current state of unconsciousness ingame doesn't directly point to unconsciousness, just to being stunned) Allowing you to then run up and cuff them so they can't stand up or shoot for 60 seconds, allowing you to rob them but leave them alive. Tazers might work too. but, I think it'd be really hard to implement, as you'd need dimishing returns on rubber bullets otherwise it'd just be used to grief, same for the use of cuffs, they'd need cooldowns or a 1-time usability and max carry of 1 per person (meaning they take up a pistol slot maybe).
  15. You DON'T need to buy Arma2. You can simply download Arma2Free from steam, and buy Arrowhead. Confirmed working fine.

    Something Needs Changing

Mug1: "Hey fellow Survivor, could I have some painkillers please? That's all I need" Mug2: Hmm.. I kinda want those, but it's not a big deal, he has a rifle so he could just take them from me if he wanted. I guess they're not worth dying over. "Sure." CRISIS AVERTED, EVERYONE CAN GO HOME NOW. edit: I feel I need to reiterate again what I and others have already said. There is no mass killing of fresh characters for medical supplies. It doesn't happen. Making shit up to fill the holes in your argument is quite low. Before you say it, READING COMPREHENSION, I know man, I know.

    Something Needs Changing

Reading comprehension? Ah, you're one of THOSE guys. So basically, you want to play a Post Apocalyptic Survival game, but you dislike the fact that you have to make a decision on whether to go into town and take a huge risk of dying or just pop a guy and take it from him. Sorry, isn't that pretty much the essence of this game? Deciding HOW you want to survive and what lengths you'll go to to do it? As plenty of others have said as well, I've never been forced into killing a fresh player for their morphine or painpills, ever. If I had to I would, but in the broad sense it just doesn't happen. Twisting the reality to favour your argument is not your friend. Just stop before you embarrass yourself further.
  18. Completely agree, I was talking with someone about this last night. It's the new generation of games that just encourage laziness, it's groomed younger generations of gamers to just expect stuff to be handed to them, to quote something I read in another thread "They expect a car at level 10 and a helicopter at level 20" type attitude, and the developers have then been further encouraged to be lazy and keep rehashing the same boring material and content but with different looks and new promises because people are buying into it. OFP was probably my first "real" PC game that I loved, and till now it's seemed nothing really gave me that feeling that I was playing something that was challenging or even required any thought. Games have basically become mindless and sloppy. But unless hundreds of thousands of XBOX teenagers stop buying games like Call of Duty, it won't change with the big developers. I don't need to have my hand held in games. I don't need to be given shiny things every time I stab a Mutated Rat, I don't need to climb dozens of tiers of weapons and armour to feel achievement. In DayZ I like that I can get lost for an hour in woods and fields, I like that I can run for 20 minutes and not find a single animal to kill when I'm in dire need of blood, and I like that I can go through an entire village and find nothing but a tin of pasta.

    Help Team and Survival

    1. Stay off the roads. 2. Stay away from Chernogorsk and Elektro, the coast in general. 3. Stay away from the NW Airfield. 4. When you're in town, always act like there are hostile players in that town, because the way it goes is, as soon as you get lazy and start sprinting from house to house or standing in the open looting, is when you get sent on a quick trip back to the beach. There are less players in the north, but the towns still have high foot traffic passing through, as opposed to camping out as they do in the main coastal towns and cities.
