    Players 30+ years old

37 UK, Survivor and Medic. Skype details in my sig for anyone who has a medical emergency or is just looking for a group. I've been playing Arma 2 since it's release, play lots of different Arma 2 MP missions and mods so feel free to ask me questions about installation, different mod setup and game mechanics also. Edit: It appears that two threads got merged, hence my two posts close together on this page.

    Players 30+ years old

I'm 37 years old and I recently got my ass whooped by a 74year old on Dirt 2 and I consider myself pretty good at that game. I'm hanging around Cherno and Elektro atm, trying to help new spawns get some decent loot before they venture off in to the interior. I also like to visit the sniper camp locations around the cities and clear out those nasty bandit snipers. I'm on skype when I take a shift at being a medic or looking for some team play.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

This is fantastic, DayZ team release an update and it fixes some stuff and breaks others. No, I'm not being sarcastic or trolling. Testing new implementations and ideas is part of the alpha process and it's progress, whether that progress is positive or negative matters not. With each build the devs learn something new and can use that knowledge to build a better final release. People bitch and whine about final releases that are full of bugs and accuse devs of poor testing and QA. We get to be involved in a project from very early on in it's development and could have an impact on it's direction. WTF are we whining at ?

    Im totally pissed off.

So you found a good sniper spot on a low pop server, then server hopped to a high pop server gain kills and more loot chances, then whine about a player Alt-F4ing. You and the sniper are both ****s imo.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

I pre-ordered Carrier Command HD from BIS, I'm not sure what engine that uses but I'd imagine it's based on the current Arma/RV3 engine core and it looks and feels very different to Arma 2 too. I don't see why DayZ couldn't get it's own incarnation of the RV3/RV4 engine and tools also.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

You replying directly to me ? Squad made KSP available for a minimum donation, I think it was $7 at the time I purchased it. This give the community access to beta builds and the final release. The $7 was a discounted pre-order price and I donated a lot more than $7 for this wonderful little game. I'd pay above a minimum donation to get beta/early access to DayZ too. I appreciate how much time and energy that goes into a project like this and am willing to pay good money for good products. I'm a massive supporter of the gaming industry by simply buying and not pirating any of the hundreds of games I play too.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Congratulations to Rocket and all the devs involved. I'm so glad DayZ is going to be made 'proper' and equally excited that BIS are involved too. You(the devs) should consider making pre-orders available via a minimum donation. Squad did this with Kerbal Space Program, I and many others paid above the minimum donation to get access to the beta builds and final product. Good Luck DayZ team. I really am so happy for you

    Antibiotics

I've never had cause to use them. I think the chance of getting an infection is as rare as the chance of finding them.

    More hackers encouraged to hack

I've mentioned this in other threads on hacking, the fact that hacks are so much of a problem is because of the very thing that allowed DayZ to happen in the first place. The VR engine has a very powerful editor and scripting language allowing for some of the best mods made for any game out there. Project Reality, Advanced Combat Environment, ACRE, the MSO scripts, community made maps and weapons systems, the list goes on. Rocket has had to hack/script Arma 2 to it's core to get DayZ working and BIS has helped him and other mod makers achieve the similar. BIS has a hard task to do, they have to help squash hacks without harming the the very thing that makes these mods achievable in the first place. I'm afraid we'll have to deal with hacks until DayZ goes standalone.
  10. OK please stop trolling, it's Insurgency on the Takistan map and you know it
  11. Lol that's not DayZ, it's not even on the Chernerus map. Anyone can spawn as a bird in the Arma 2 armoury.

    Heatpacks?

I've only ever had to use a heat pack once so don't carry them any more. Maybe when winter comes they'll be more useful, I'm not sure what time of year the servers are set too at the moment though or if they even follow real time seasons. Arma 2 proper does have settings for time of year when you set up missions. Anyone know the answer to that ?

    this forum seems annoying

I made a pointless thread yesterday apparently, fair enough, I may of done. Some fool came in and highlighted the fact he thought it was a pointless thread and bumped it. Pretty much what I'm doing now. Sometimes people can't help being internet tards, myself included.

    Metagaming

The key to DayZ becoming a success will be based more on metagaming than actual features, content and a rule set that restricts gameplay. Rocket just needs to build in some tools to allows us to do it. People are suggesting bandit punishments(I know lol) and all sorts of other restraints. What we really need is to keep the DayZ as sandbox as a can sandbox can be. People should have their carebare safe zones just as long as others can attack them and turn it into 'Banditville'. They can employ me to protect them and I will, until I get bored and burn the place to the ground. I've got quite a few bits of kit that I'd like to trade too, so a player guarded trading post would be nice or even a township. I could even set up a bank and then make off with all the loot (and money ?) that people are fool enough to invest. All I'm saying is, give us the tools and we'll make the rules(I'm a f***ing poet) Discuss..

    Metagaming

Typical, all mouth no substance. Pretty much sums up the attitude on these forums. Takes all day to trawl through all the shit talk posted. You feel better now ? Seriously though, what do you think about the metagaming elements of DayZ, good or bad ? Edit: Thanks for editing the insult out of your initial reply. My point still stands though.

    Less snipers as of wednesday..

Anyone want to buy a Bizon ? Seriously this fix is well overdue, I'm happy.

    SG#500 hacked.

We'll have to put up with it for now or not play test DayZ. There's next to no budget for development and I'm not sure how high up an anti-cheat system is on the devs 'to do' list. The existing anti-cheat engine that is Battleye is not specifically designed for DayZ. You see Arma 2 has a very powerful mission editor and scripting language that is essential for the mod community, allowing them to create some of the most wonderful missions and modified content. That's perfect for Arma 2 but not so perfect for DayZ.
  18. Just installed this app today to get Steam Overlay working. There's a problem though, on launching the app windows posts the 'program has stopped working' error. People on the DayZ Commander google group are posting the same issue.

How to "officially" pronounce "Day Z" ?

I'm British so pronounce 'Z' as 'Zed' but I heard Rocket call it 'day zee' so I call it 'day zee'...when I die to a bug or a suspect hack I call it a 'f'cking piece of shit' Of course I still love the mod and will continue to torture myself by playing it.

    Underestimation of Lee Enfield

Of course it's not a shotgun I know that and I'm pretty sure the Lee Enfield accepts .303 British not .44. I said the Winnie is quite quiet for a shotgun. Both the Lee Enfield and Winnie are quite common for a new spawn to find and I prefer the quieter of the two weapons. Try to absorb and understand what you read before replying :)

    Underestimation of Lee Enfield

My PDW side arm and I agree with this statement. Having plenty of 30 round PDW and MP5 mags in my possession means I can fight them off all day. I can select full auto for those special occasions too. 'One shotting' zeds with a .45 is quite boring. Although, a Bizon was an excellent alternative to a pistol for creeping about heli crash sites. Lee Enfield can be nice as your first primary pick up, I'd still pick a Winchester over it though. The Winnie is quite quiet for a shotgun.

whats is your ideal gun setup/gameplay style

I regret giving up my Bizon now. Raiding crash sites and the airfield was so much easier with it. I got all excited and dropped the Bizon for an M4A1 HWS M203. Have a PDW side arm, it's nice because it has 30 round mag and will accept MP5, M9 and G17 mags too. PDW has Semi and full auto fire select too. So Bizon and PDW was my favourite weapon load out. I'll pick up another Bizon if I can or maybe a M9SD, I really like the silent approach. I'd quite like a go with that L85A2AWS, I've used it many times playing Arma2 but never found one at the barracks in DayZ yet.
  23. simonjames

    Anyone else fount these?

I found an M4A1 HWS M203 at the airfield last night. First time I've looted it in the game, I checked it was in the wiki before I picked it up. My conscience would not allow myself to take it otherwise. Dropped a Bizon and 3 mags for it and regret it now, I miss the silent killing.

So I just bought my third copy of OA

I have 40 copies of the game and use them all on a single server thus blocking anyone else from logging on. Seriously, it would be cheaper to spend a few hours finding some tents to stow your gear ?
