It's not just the Lee Enfield, I fired my M4 at a zed last night at about 3m range, another zed walking not 10m away ignored the shot. Also while running away from a single zed last night I hit the prone key by accident and the chasing zombie stopped and de-aggro'd. Something seems to have broken maybe ?

Barrel length has an impact on range and accuracy even when your firing the same rounds. A longer barrel increases the gas pressure in the barrel and the rotation of the round but I'm not sure how accurately Arma 2 models this. Edit: LeOverlord does it again, LeBeans for you.

I was going to link those exact same videos LeOverload. If in any doubt over target range and your forced to return fire then zero at 300 and aim for centre mass of your enemy. If you have time then zero the target as shown in the videos and you won't go far wrong.

Stand-Alone or Arma 3 Expansion - One-Off payment. I could live with 'Micro Transactions' for 'Cosmetic Items' but in no way for 'Pay to Win' scams we see elsewhere. BiS would have to be the dev/publisher if you went with an Arma 3 Expansion. If you went stand-alone you could sell pre-orders to get access to beta builds. I'd like a studio to get behind the project so long as they allow you creative control and did not impose impossible restraints. Don't let us(the community) have too much input in to the development. A 'Vocal Minority' can be the death of start up projects. Both community and studio sponsored servers. Peer to peer hosting will kill it. Kick Starter may work, I've never participated in any though and have no interest in any of them so far. Whatever happens I wish you and the DayZ team every success.

I hope WarZ does well. Having a competitor should drive up the quality of both products, one would hope. This is the PC gaming world though so I'll remain a little sceptical, quality does not seem to matter these days, people will buy and spend on any old crap..

Yes I'm a complete ass now but like I said, I used to be a nice guy. I was considering becoming a 'Roaming Medic' heh I still might try that. I've only 1 murder and no bandit kills on this char, which is quite typical for my characters. The only reason I 'trapped' the heli site was because a day earlier I go shot while observing another player at a heli site, it was a kind of universal balance type thing. I was lucky to get away with my life that time. Besides the trap should only maim someone, if they have bandages and morphine they'll be fine and have learned a valuable lesson. I did them a favour!!!

There are no fixed spawn points for heli crash sites any more. Since the last update (or maybe the one before ?) a heli crash site can spawn anywhere on the map in open fields that are near forests or buildings. They should do the same with vehicle spawns too in my opinion. Soon as a server restarts clans/groups are checking all the vehicle spawn locations and hoarding all the vehicles.

That's the problem right there. and... Since side chat was removed there's no way to communicate with people before they get in pistol head shot range. I'm on day 18 atm and I have a M4 Holo with M203GL, a PDW 'machine pistol' a GPS and a bunch of other shiny stuff. If I get the drop on you your a dead man/woman. There's no chance I'm going to risk a hatchet to the face from a new spawn. Here's some more cruelty for you... I looted a crashed heli last night and before leaving I set a bear trap in the long grass right next to the door gunner position. I really hope someone got their neck stuck in it while crawling around the site. A few months ago I would not of dreamed of hurting another player by this means or any other. I always tried to make friendly contact with other people but I soon learned how cruel people could be. A few encounters with untrustworthy and 'un-trusting' people soon hardened my spirit.

I've a question or two for you Inception, If this kind of thing didn't happen in DayZ, would DayZ be better or worse off for it ? As already said, we'll never know what possessed him/her to waste rare ammo on a new spawn. Why do people go back to the coast with a full survival kit and good weapons when they could live in the woods for eternity ? In almost 30 years of gaming I've never had a game test me as much as DayZ does and on so many levels too. It's also an interesting look into the human psyche too.

Sacriel42 has some great videos on YT, the production standard is very high too. New players could learn a lot from this guy and his squad too.
