  1. http://users.content.ytmnd.com/f/3/0/f3059a3f1cdd764e8f3ef7353a88a570.jpg This is a screenshot of some people who blew up a camp of ours. I'm wondering whether or not they are legit. Is the (4526m) distance marker you see in the top right corner possible in dayZ? Without a custom script/hack, of course...
  2. I assume that custom scripts placed onto the server by the host are not allowed. However, i would like that verified. Anyway, we had an idea to create a script that could listen and record certain functions into an external log, such as "addWeapon" and "addmagazine _x" etc. to catch hackers and then manually ban them after checking the log. Would this be allowed (if its possible anyway)? Its just writing an additional log, not actually changing anything about the game experience.
  3. Here is exactly the problem: YES it is easier, and that is good, and why people like it! The first person is NOT at ALL realistic, due to the fact that in reality you would actually have a much wider peripheral vision. Arma 2's first-person is tunnel-vision and hence third-person is the way to go to avoid this, period. Like it or not. Also, it will always be a matter of opinion, and obviously there are different levels of gamers (casual, regular, hardcore, expert). Day Z luckily lets hosts decide what kind of target group they want on their server and its good that way. Now stop complaining, and go on servers that dont have 3rd person
  4. 1) There is an option to turn it off for the host. There are hardcore communities/servers and regular ones. Without choice, this mod would not be fun for everyone, only for a certain group of people. 2) You never get more advantage than any other player on the server you are currently playing on. The other player can use third person just as much as anyone else. Same goes for any other feature.

    Global/Side chat

Regardless what opinions everyone has on the global/side channel, please leave it up to the server owner to have it enabled or disabled. The only reason to have it disabled seems to be due to abuse, which should be an administration issue, not a game feature. Also, for the sake of alpha testing a global communication channel should be enabled. For full release we could talk again. I'm also asking for this due to the fact that currently people seem to get their installations and updates wrong but come on the server and play anyway, not realizing that they are totally bugged. And nobody on the server can inform them otherwise...
  6. nice :) helis present / working again in the current patch?

    Pending Hotfix: Build 1.7.1.3

    You are fast. Just wow
  8. PLEASE, leave it up to the server owners to set global/side chat as on/off
  9. I love the update(s) and how they keep coming! All changes are for the better so far. There are a few exceptions, though i'm sure this will be optimized in the future. I consider myself quite a tactical gamer, maybe even close to a hardcore gamer. However, with the new insta-kill by zombies of the new update, it has become quite impossible to survive alone for enough time to get a proper weapon. Personally, i may be able to come up with tactics, together with a team, to avoid this. However, you need to seriously consider what group you are catering to. If you want only the hardcore gamers to stick with this mod, then by all means, continue with these improvements. Just keep in mind that you will loose a very large playerbase that is not engaged in hardcore gaming 24-7. Believe it or not, the majority of the current players are your average joe, who plays to enjoy every now and then, not to get all serious. I am pretty sure i will receive little agreement on this topic here, since almost everyone who has bothered to sign up here is most likely a hardcore gamer in the first place. To make it very clear to you: You are less than 10% of the players that play this mod. How do i know that? Take the number of registered forum users and divide it by the number of unique players on DayZ. (24,211 / 244,350 = 0,09) Substract the amount of registered users currently disliking the hardcore aspect of the update from that statistic and you will be left with the number of people who will be willing to keep playing. Be considerate. My suggestion on this part: Split up the database in two: Hardcore and Regular. If you create an account on a hardcore server, it would not save across regular servers and vice versa. This way, people have the choice to play the game as realistic as possible, with hardcore tactics and real challenges. Those, who prefer regular fun, will be able to play on regular servers. Win-Win
