I agree that we should have the walkie and a battery as starting items. It would encourage more off-the-coast interaction.

I am in full support of this. From my experience the people renting public servers are mostly those who want a safe space to loot. Removing the option to rent public servers will significantly reduce the amount of "badmins" running servers. I can't tell you how many times I have been kicked from a server because I killed the admin or his friend.

Yeah, there is a way to get it back... Go looting again. Don't go prone on stairs and don't climb ladders with you pistol drawn, until they are in the changelog for an update, avoid doing these things. Rocket is aware of them, you are not the only person to die from random glitches due to being prone. I died trying to stand up the the bathroom of the barracks at the NW airfield. Cause 10000 damage, broke my legs, and I passed out (and subsequently bled out)... I had GPS, Toolbox, AKS-74 Kobra, MP5SD6, PDW, and much more. It's an alpha, don't expect to keep any of this stuff. For all you know, the next big update might require starting everyone at a clean slate due to a new feature (hope this never happens, but Rocket has the right to do it, this is a mod we have paid nothing for).

This is an error with there being a split/second of swimming before you enter because your boat is in deep water. Try parking your boat on more solid ground and make sure you always use the 'get out' option, never 'eject'. PS: Small boats suck for transportation, find a PBX... Which can go 70km/h and basically un-beach itself.

If nothing, it at least adds to the realism. The more I think about it, I feel it should just alter the item to the empty version of itself, which could then be dropped or used as zombie distraction.

May I suggest you try Jurassic: The Hunted or Turok to see how bad that idea can be.

Dallas 41 has been a notorious server of problems for my group and I. I avoid most of the Dallas servers in general as I have been kicked for suspicious reasons several times (ping too high? From SEA?) and run into several hackers there.
