    Nights

GIGABIT, The sky does emit a little bit of light. Your problem is either: * The moon is not out * Clouds are blocking moonlight Maybe learn to understand how things work before you jump to conclusions and start complaining?

    Bicycles

+1, I think mountain bikes should be probably 50% more common than cars (that's still pretty damn rare), and they should be fairly easy to fix, like 1 - 2x metal scraps, for the frame and maybe introduce bike wheels that would be fairly common in those outdoor sheds.
  4. I clicked on this thread after reading the title planning an angry response, but after the first two paragraphs, I can't agree more. Really the only downside of having progress be server-independent is that you only want to play on that server - if your preferred server goes down or is full, you're going to have to wait (which will worsen the problem of players mashing enter to get in to their preferred server) But I do agree on most of OP's points - especially because right now if a player gets in shit, they can just hop server and continue on. But this way at least if they disconnect to avoid death, if they join another server they'll have to start over, which should encourage pvp disconnecters to reconnect to the server, giving their assailants another attempt at getting the kill they deserved.

    Tents

What exactly are they used for? I've been told they can be used for long term storage of gear, but are they persistent? (if i log off or change servers will it still be there) what are they actually useful for? Cheers
  6. I was doing my normal looting of the barns north of Chernogorsk, and came over a hill towards cherno to find a Bandit shooting some survivors from the treeline. I was behind him with the Winchester I just found a few minutes ago, I decided to see how close I could get to him, since even if he noticed me his CZ550 wouldn't stand a chance against my shotgun in close range. I slowly approached him from his 7 o'clock walk-crouching with my crosshairs aimed at his head. He must have heard me as I got close, he free-looked at me, an almost funny moment of his head turning around to see a shotgun looking right back at him. I pulled the trigger and he was dead by the time I reached his body a few seconds later. He had a CZ550 with an inventory full of ammo, and an ALICE pack full of meds, food, water and a military flashlight. I didn't really outsmart him, he was just stupid enough to not watch his back.

    ?

That's actually the really similar to what happened to me. I made a living scavenging just inland from the coast, usually hitting towns 3-4km for the coast and sometimes bouncing in to the outskirts of Cherno and Elektro for the clusters of barns there. One day I was doing my normal rounds, happened across a bandit with a CZ550 on the hill just NW of Chernogorsk, in the treeline (I was just walking over the hill having ransacked a few buildings on the other side). He was taking shots at a group of two helpless survivors, so I took him out with my Winchester, and felt like a god having saved those lives and taken his Coyote Backpack filled with gear. I decided to keep his CZ550 and some ammo in my backpack - just in case I needed to defend myself against more bandits. Bored of being in that area, I decided to trek up to Berezino where I found a repairable bus near some apartment buildings near the seaport, I deployed my tent nearby and started an operation to repair the bus so that I could travel freely. I managed to find two wheels and some windscreens in the storage sheds at the seaport, but had a hard time finding metal parts. The next day I went on another search for parts and came across two survivors, I called out that I was friendly in direct chat, and they responded the same. So I started to move along with my search, seconds later I heard the crack of gunshots near missing me, I did what any sane person would do and find cover. Their gunshots attracted a zombie horde which kept them occupied long enough for me to climb onto the roof of a nearby industrial building, and equip the CZ550 - the same one that the bandit I killed was using to kill two survivors. Now I was doing exactly the same. I killed the two survivors and moved on as a bandit, trying to repair my bus. I would hold up in the enterable apartment buildings, and take out anyone who crossed my path, because I knew that being a bandit, they would most likely shoot at me on sight. Eventually I was in desperate need of food and water - I made my way towards the supermarket in the middle of Berezino. I accidentally alerted zombies just outside the supermarket, so I ran inside and started taking them out, not noticing that there was a person on the other side of the courtyard. Just as I was killing the last two zombies, I was shot through the window by the other player. I love this game.

    Fireplace and tent placement

I'd be so happy if I could place tents under cover, I mean it seems pretty stupid that the tent that I'm trying to HIDE has to be placed in the middle of a field instead of hidden in a treeline.

    A question about infected speeds

Despite the name, i think the Zeds in DayZ should be INFECTED, not zombies. Like based off the infected from 28 days/weeks later. They are not undead, so they don't suffer from deterioration etc. They are simply humans with no emotions, no sense of self preservation, and only the urge to infect or consume the non-infected.

  11. I generally only use first person myself, but I agree with OP completely. +1.
  12. If someone is bleeding and they log off, shouldn't they bleed while logged off anyway?
