  1. All-round: Einfeld, it's loud but ammo is common as hell, it's incredibly accurate, it's a 1 hit kill. It's basically a CZ (accurate, 1 hit kills at range) but instead of a scope you have larger clips and WAY more common ammo, meaning it's still usable against zombies (just sit in a building and start shooting, you'll clear half a city's zed population and still have ammo left over)

    M203 HE Rounds ingame?

They've been in the game since I started playing (which was back when the mod was hosted on dropbox and didn't have a website) but they're really rare. I've never cared to pick them up because I haven't found much use for the M16GL, usually in the same barracks raid I'll find a better weapon.

My Rant: Why I am Done with the Game.

Good, leave. This game is not for idiots like you. The community will be a better place without you.

    how to join a server

    find one that isn't full.
  5. If you're looking for high-grade military gear with a high risk/reward, head north-west to the NW Airfield and Stary Sobor. If you're happy using civillian weapons, you want to be in the north-eastern region, usually 1-2km from the coast, it's generally the most uninhabited area thus the lowest chance of running across dicks and you'll be relatively near Berezino which has a hospital, hotel, supermarket, some enterable apartment blocks and a few vehicle spawns.

    Seasons in DayZ?

No, and no. It wouldn't really be possible without an incredible amount of effort from the developers. I'd much rather they work on other things.
  7. I just found my first crashed heli, there's different from usual zombies around it (some with pilot helmets etc), but I can't find any gear near it, and i'm not able to get in the wreck. How do I loot it?

    What's your preferable server settings?

All off, only VOIP should be direct chat once it's working. For those saying 3rd person allows for quickly scanning your surroundings, you can press or double tap to toggle - (numpad minus) to increase your FoV greatly.

    Completely unable to die [1.8.5.4]

+1 for honesty, 90% of players I see would have kept this to themselves.

    Zombies cannot cross railroad tracks.

I've had zombies chase me on piers before, though I think they spawned on top of the cement so that's probably why, maybe they're unable to run onto it.
  11. On me: * Mk 48 Mod 0 (It's basically an M240 with scope and foregrip, one-shots military zombies and players with more accuracy than an M16 when firing single shots due to long barrel and high powered + heavy rounds), 4x 100rnd mags (+3 more in my tent) * MP5SD, 8x mags * G17 (traded my PDW for it, I like that my light source and secondary is combined in one slot, never have to worry about flashlights, chemlights or flares again) * 4x Frag Grenades * Coyote Backpack In my tents * Over 40 cooked meat * all parts required to fix a car (4x wheels, 4x jerry cans, 4x metal scraps, engine parts, fueltank parts) * M4A1 w/ 4x ACOG scope, 5 mags * AK74SU, 4 mags * Camo DMR, no mags :( Anyone who kills me or finds my tents will be a very happy camper :)
  12. I get the argument BM--the question is is this just another FPS NooBKillah opportunity' date=' or something really different in a game? Personally, I'd like a big enough and varied enough world for everyone--from the killers to the builders--to play. If it is just kill or be killed, the game will burn out quick; folks will get bored after killing Bean Boy the 3000th time and head off to COD XVIII, Revenge of COD XVII. As it is now, there is no real motivation not to kill and loot; that's been a problem in MMOs since Ultima Online started back in the 90s (and it almost killed that game in the crib). If it was all about that level of survival (kill em, take stuff, repeat) then the human race would have died out in the caves. :) [/quote'] It looks like you consider the core element of DayZ (survival of the fittest) to be an actual problem. It looks like DayZ isn't for you. If you want to make friends, it's best you make them outside the game. Experienced players value their beans and would rather not risk losing them to other people. I find the best way of making friends is approaching them unnoticed, and stand behind them doing something like saluting or the friendship dance. When they realize that if you wanted to kill them you would have already, they usually won't try to kill you back. Though there's always the risk of them just being dicks or freaking out when they notice you and killing you anyway. I suggest you join a clan if you want friends to play with long-term.

    Fortification

So I've heard rumours (however invalid they may or may not be) that the devs are looking into a method to allow fortification/occupation of settlements, I thought I'd share some of my thoughts on it. Obviously they don't want to introduce some sort of "system" or a single occupation mechanic that makes players confine to, to be able to occupy areas. I was thinking it might work well if there was simply new gear that let players achieve this on their own. For example anti-personnel mines, flares hooked up to tripwires and other traps for protecting an area from players, and maybe some sort of device (maybe make it spawn near some high-tech places like the radars or something) that detracts zombies within an area, so for example zombies wouldn't spawn (they'll still chase you in without hesitation if you alert zombies outside) within a 500m radius of it. If it's an electronic device, it would need power - maybe introduce power generators that need to be refuelled, this way you would have players in a settlement working together to find fuel to keep their area zombie-free. This alone would introduce a lot of new scenarios. Should the players use their last jerry can to fuel the generator, or to refuel their car in hopes of using it to find more fuel in a nearby town etc. This would add something to do for those players who have geared themselves up with Mk 48 Mod 0's and NVG's, and roll with their friends who are also geared up, other than preying on new players because there's nothing else to do. It could also lead to situations where you have rival settlements, leading to even more scenarios where for example one group tries to sabotage the generator of the other settlement (this is where traps would come in) to cause chaos in there by allowing zombies to spawn. I feel something like this would work really well, because once you've survived the first few days and made new friends, in a post-apocalyptic world the next thing you'd do is try to make a (relatively) safe haven you can call home.

    Melee Weapon Petition

I think melee should be viable as a last resort. It should come with a high risk of getting raped by zombies while you attempt to kill them.

    Crazy Zombie Spawns

+1 exactly this. Personally I think spawn numbers should go up to be higher than they were before, during in 1.5.7, but spawn RATES need to be drastically decreased. I'm really sick of killing zombies around a deerstand, climbing up the ladder to loot gear, then by the time I start climbing down I'm getting boofed up the bum by a zombie officer. I'd much rather have to deal with twice the amount of zombies straight up, then not having them spawn on top of me after (or while) I'm killing them.

    Are they taking away Bandits?

OP is a complete retard. Removal of banditry means it's easier to fool others into trusting you. Most players inherently shoot at bandits on sight, but this way you can bait and lie yourself into their trust, then throw a smoke grenade at their feet while they're sneaking through a zombie filled town :D.
  17. I was rolling around the heartlands of the map as a bandit with the scoped M14 I found at the NW Airfield, killing anyone I came across as a bandit does. I came across a player who was just sneaking into a town, I was on a hill some ~400 metres behind him. I got down and rather than aiming for the chest like usual, I thought I'd have some fun and kneecap the guy. It was a decent shot and downed him. Rather than moving in and finishing him off, I decided to throw a red smoke grenade at him. It was pretty hilarious watching zombies horde to the smoke grenade then turn to him when they got bored of it. He must have been terrified, there were a good 10-20 zombies there and he was unable to escape due to his broken leg. I waited another 10 or so minutes for the zombies to get borded and walk away, then I looted his body to find some baked beans and Mountain Dew.

    More zombies please.

+1, I loved the increased zombie counts, the 1-2 minute spawn rates were causing the problems where you'd clear out an area then move in, only to have them spawn on top of you.

    Incapacitating Weapons and Actions

@seannybgoode The idea of "knifing" someone is pretty stupid (encourages gung-ho CoD-esque play), but I do think a hunting knife should be usable as a (ineffective) last resort. I mean if I was running from zombies, and killed all of them bar one, running out of ammo, there should be SOME way to finish off the last one rather than having to resort to exploits of the zombie AI like running up a steep hill diagonally or swimming across water.

    Idea for new bandit system

This makes no sense. If a bandit shot a survivor from 300 metres away with their CZ 550, does the survivor's blood mystically splash 300 metres to land on the bandit? The entire point of bandit skins being removed is so there's more distrust, you can't just see a guy and know he's a bandit. You'll either play smart and avoid people all together, or risk encountering someone. You don't magically know someone's past by having a look at them. I myself am not a bandit, I usually actually hang out on the hills north of Cherno HUNTING bandits. Bandits should appear no different from any other player.

Getting wam and cozy inside (a house)

+1, I like this. I actually hope the temperature system will be getting a lot more involved, being indoors should prevent you from getting colder, and lighting a fire should raise your temprature.
  22. This problem only happend in the 1.5.7 patch, when spawn rates and numbers were drastically increased. I love the increased zombie count but the spawn rates are WAY too fast, there should be at least a 4-5 minute gap between spawns. My clanmates and I were at the NW airfield, I was mowing down zeds with my Mk48 Mod0, and my mates all had AKM's and M4A1's, we killed entire hordes in seconds, but before we could actually move into the cleared areas, they would spawn literally on top of us. It seems like the "no players are nearby" check for zombie spawning was taken out as well. Hopefully spawning will be fixed next patch while the increased zombie count (and difficulty) remains intact.
