    I agree that it'd be nice if this issue was addressed but it is the chance you take if you choose to log out in a high traffic area.

    I'm having a similar issue except my items aren't being converted into other items, but are disappearing completely. While playing today I have logged out and back in two times. Both times I have been missing items. Today I have lost 2 blood bags, an epi pen, and some drinks/food. All of my lost items were in my backpack when I logged out.
