What's Your Survival "Workflow?"
steven.rogers909@gmail.com replied to Jhuto's topic in New Player Discussion
I tend to hit up the closest supermarket outside wherever I spawn. If I get shot, I get shot. Big deal. If I survive, I usually try and jet out north of Cherno or Elektro further inland. My goals are different once that happens. -
@people moaning about being shot.
steven.rogers909@gmail.com replied to evulclown@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the game has a flaw in terms of overall objective. "Survival" isn't really an objective. I found a spot in Cherno (and another city) where I could literally hide out, log in, pick up food/drinks, consume and log out without anyone ever knowing I was there. So survival isn't that tough. Is the objective to kill as many infected as possible? Kill as many players as possible? -
QN regarding custom server-side scripts [Hack Detection]
steven.rogers909@gmail.com replied to t0pz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've done heavy research on this and my findings are still inconclusive. As administrator/owner of my server, I feel like the administrative tools/rights are quite underwhelming. For instance, I was asked by a user to transport him because he wondered extremely far off the map. He was new and didn't realize what he had done. Being able to move him somewhere else would have been nice. I understand that these sort of abilities could be exploited by an admin, but that's the risk one must take. Plus if you have an admin exploiting constantly then users will simply quit visiting that server and that admin will be exploiting all by himself. Well, those are my thoughts. -
Seattle 71 Admins hacked weapons/abuse (coordinates included!)

Best thing you can do is simply not return to that server. There are plenty of servers out there that have no admin "gods". -

The best part is the lack of punctuation in that story. -
[GUIDE] Best route to NWAF for newspawns
steven.rogers909@gmail.com replied to FrostDMG's topic in New Player Discussion
I rarely have trouble at supermarkets, oddly enough. I usually have the most trouble where major weapons spawn. -
I think Side chat is probably necessary. This is a multi-player game and side chat makes the game social. Without it, it's basically a single-player game.

Disconnecting to avoid death
steven.rogers909@gmail.com replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I had someone just completely disappear (disconnected) to prevent me from killing them. I asked for "friendly?" in direct and he said nothing. So I fired at him when he came out the front of a supermarket and *poof* disconnected. -

why do people have difficulties starting w/o weapons
steven.rogers909@gmail.com replied to Tikka (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
At first, I didn't enjoy starting w/o a weapon. After some time though, I found that I quite enjoy it. It makes you very aware of your surroundings. I prefer it now. -

Haha! Right!? That is literally the only tactic I have found effective to survive particularly when I have yet to find a weapon.
