Buildings All Rubble in Cherno+Random Death=?
Yeung-Jin posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was just in Cherno and when I came to the town center with town hall and the skyscaper, all of the enter-able buildings were rubble. I then heard the sound of someone getting hurt, then died. I didn't hear any gunshots, I was prone in some grass, and it was nighttime. Can anybody shed some light on what happened? If I didn't get killed by someone with NVG's and a suppressed weapon then I don't know what happened. -
Buildings All Rubble in Cherno+Random Death=?

I thought that was probably the only thing it could be. I didn't get any of the info, but now I know what to do, thanks -
Some of you might recognize this nifty little gun from MGS4, the AWC Amphibian. Integrally suppressed, this handgun is the quietest suppressed weapon I've ever seen, I'd say the sound is comparable to a paintball gun, if not quieter. The barrel is ported to shave velocity off of non-subsonic rounds, so any round fired through the gun will not create the sonic snap. It comes in .22 caliber, the most plentiful type of ammunition in the world, and possibly the best caliber for scrambling brains with a headshot. Just thought I'd share, Whaddya think? Anyone else think they can one up it? Here's a youtube link of someone firing one, check out how insanely quiet it is EDIT: To all those saying that this weapon has no place doing anything other than hunting small game, take this into consideration. The Navy Seals have been using this weapon and it's previous iterations for over 30 years.

Oh, and PvtHopscotch, the Navy Seals use this very weapon currently. Do you think they're using to terminate rabbits threatening the United States? -

Chill out. I know for a fact that people conceal carry .22s. When I took my conceal carry course in Louisiana, there were two women there both with .22s. That being said, I never argued that it is the best caliber for self defense. I'm only talking about a post-apocalyptic scenario where: 1. Ammo would be scarce, and this wouldn't be an issue with a .22. $12 at wal-mart gets you 500 rounds. 2. Zombies won't be shooting back. You don't need to be 75+ meters away taking pot-shots with a handgun. I don't even own any .22 caliber guns. I'm just saying It'd be really nice to have that Ruger for zombies. If you want to argue about what caliber round is the best for self defense, then this isn't the place to do it. Also when's the last time a cop or soldier fought zombies while stranded alone in russia? -

Are you guys serious? A .22 round will puncture a skull at any range you would be shooting with a handgun. Any amount of research will tell you that, I don't know where you guys get your info, but you're dead wrong. A .22 round will enter the skull but it's unlikely that it will exit, letting the slug bounce around inside. Hence, scrambled brains. It's disheartening to see people so misinformed about firearms. .22s aren't damn BBs. -

I thought this would've generated more interest here... -
Is food super rare now? I'm finding more guns than food since the last couple hotfixes. I swept through cherno, found no food, even in the supermarket. As I started to starve to death, I decided just to bum rush a couple of players and I ended up killing both of them. From the looks of it they had spawned not that long ago; they had compasses, watches, maps and such. But no food. Am I the only one experiencing this or do I have to adapt? It seems like if this is the way the game is for now, bean banditry might become a necessity for me.

Just starved to death in Cherno

So I guess the general consensus is that this is not meant to be happening. I wonder if it was intentional. -
Just starved to death in Cherno
Yeung-Jin replied to Yeung-Jin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're kinda missing the point of the thread. I'm not saying that it's impossible to survive, I'm just asking if anyone else has noticed a drastic reduction in canned foods. I'm aware of the fact that I could have left Cherno and hunted, but I decided to stay in Cherno just to test loot drops. -

Just starved to death in Cherno
Yeung-Jin replied to Yeung-Jin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thanks for all the feedback guys, up until now I've mostly played on low player servers, so most areas wouldn't have had many people through them. Now that I've got a better feel for the game I've switched to high player servers, I'll try branching out to areas that aren't hotspots. -

Do Ghillie suits put you in water still?
Yeung-Jin replied to bloodywolfpack@msn.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've never found a ghillie suit (new player), but without fail every time I find camo when I log back in, boom, ocean. I wouldn't trust it yet. -
Here's just a couple thoughts I've had that I think might make the game more fun, and a bit more realistic. This has been said before, but I think the idea that crouch walking should be quieter than crawling is fantastic. I like the idea that you would have to trade off mobility to prone and make yourself less visible, and honestly no one shuffles around on their stomach to make less noise. The other idea I had is some kind of very small radius of very faint light around your player during the night that is only visible to you. At night I can't see anything except for the horizon when I'm outside, and it feels unnaturally dark. Giving players a small radius of visibility would be closer to reality, without sacrificing the difficulty or need for a torch or flares. The gamma exploit would theoretically not work either because then you'd just be able to see your small radius more easily. Just my 2 cents. Whaddya think

A couple ideas I have for the mod
Yeung-Jin replied to Yeung-Jin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I go camping a lot, and even at night with no moon, your eyes will adjust so you can see your surroundings. I understand that making everything visible doesn't work because of the gamma/brightness, I just think the small visible radius would be a happy medium. -

Its ironic that you want people to respond to your ideas then you come to this thread and don't respond to my ideas. Just sayin, not trying to be a dick. I read your ideas, and I thought most of them would change the game too fundamentally. I liked the soda, pain and zombie "modes" ideas, but the stamina I thought would be an added unnecessary annoyance, and I didn't really understand the point of the splint thing. -

well, that and I don't really see the point in using up food making a watch collection. I'm sure this will get fixed soon and then I'll have a reason to go out and look for gear. -

Yeah I've seen a lot of threads about it also. At the same time, it seems like not everyone is experiencing this. Some people there is a definite cutback in loot, but that they are still finding a variety, as where I just find 30+ watches. -

Well, I won't be playing until this problem gets fixed. Otherwise I'm just going to blow through my stock then starve to death, and I don't really feel like going hunting
