Until this game strongly curves the amount of hackers and duplicators, Beta is a hollow title anyways. I enjoy the hell out of DayZ, but let's be serious. You can't have a survival game, or even an FPS game, with hacks like teleporting, wall walking, duplicating, and ESP being as easily available as it is. I mean, you have 13 year olds duplicating equipment. You have PVP that is often ended not by scarcity or skill, but because of invisible players coming up behind you and shooting you in the head. I mean until that's fixed, everything else becomes irrelevant. And your honest players become your penalized players. That's kind of a huge sign of an issue, that is by all definition a game breaking alpha issue.

What 7 days of dedication got me - My Camp

Maybe it's a really cheeky camp. Just a bunch of tents full of tents. -
Water bottles hold more water than canteens. o.O

You can't store a car tent, in a car tent.

Grenades can either make you a hero or a zero. Best advice, always be prepared to run away from your own grenade. lol.

The In-Game map is currently in a really bad state. Lacking City names and water sources makes it pretty damn rough, un Markers will actually show up on other peoples maps if you are simply close enough to them. They also despawn on a log or restart. So it's a bit finicky.

Yeah, I talked with the Cat. Sent him to the Recruitment section. Not exactly a good fit for DGN, but probably a great recruit for another Clan. ^.^

Sent you a friend request. If you've got TS and a working Mic, may enjoy our community. Will chat you up in TS if you're interested, get you to meet the boys and girls if you're a good fit. We are a 17+ community, with around 35 members. On peak hours we currently sit around 11 members. If you fit our jive, would love to have ya.

Have you ever just decided to carry a jerrycan full of fuel or water and thought, I'd like to drink this entire canister without second guessing my life choices? Well now you have.

This is the only game I've ever played where people will post threads about being lonely and wanting to play with others. But will end the thread by saying things like "No Communities, Clans, or Guilds".

Ductape somehow can sometimes fix the lenses of broken optics. That's some next level Ductape usage right there.

Eh, I'd hope not. That'd turn off one of the few major survivor skills in the game. Learning orienteering is a huge part of survival in situations like this. Granted you can sink 1000s of hours into this map, and eventually know basically where you are most of the time, but until then you need skills like Terrain Identification, basic understanding of Azimuths, to understanding Grid Coordinates and Resection. I actually like that we don't get our hand held when it comes to orienteering. ^.^
-
Safest method is just to wait for a server restart.
-
Binos have considerably less of a scan radius then looking through your optic. (with only moving your head)

You're not dedicated enough to kill yourself with an Ax or Bat, but you sure as hell are dedicated enough to suffocate yourself with some rags.

I imagine somewhere, some poor forum just got this huge influx of trolls. Poor bastards.

Was surfing some other threads, thinking about Base Building Issues and Trade Market Issues, plus the concept of dynamic events. And it made me question, a really simple concept, NPCS. So, we already have NPC's in DayZ. These are animals and zombies. Both of which will have a few antagonist properties to character survival. Zombies will of course, eat you. Animals can feed you, but some will also in the future, feed on you. And that's the realm that NPC's play in currently. Which brought a question to a mind. What role would you like to see NPC's play in DayZ? Would you like to see more types of NPCs? Do humanoid NPCs feel meaningful or damaging to the environment? Humanoids possibly being both dynamic hordes of cannibals or random bandits that spawn if certain areas are unsecure. (Thusly promoting holding key terrain, making low population servers more dangerous which helps fight low pop gearing, and give more reasons for future base building) Would you like to be able to "purchase" NPC's to protect your bases or loot when you're offline, through some sort of gear/food/water depreciation system, NPC's abandoning your camps if you can't support them. I know it's a sticky question, because I don't think anyone to falls into the realm of "quest givers" but I'm curious where the community feels NPC's fall into DayZ, since one of our very core mechanics revolve around them.(Zombies)

Mandatory, lol.

It's very subtle, but it's there. Sadly, adjusting sound effects to make the engine bearable, turns subtle into near impossible to hear that feature.

It's a vehicle bug. It generally triggers (from our experience) from hoping from a server to another server, and then operating a vehicle. If it happens to you again, immediately log all the way out of the game when you "die". Log back in. You should spawn at the last location you entered the vehicle, and your vehicle should be at the location you last got out of the vehicle (your death location). It can effect individual players in a vehicle, and skip other players in that same vehicle, or bounce around. It's not necessarily a "one death" issue, and can happen multiple times after multiple recovery's. Server Restarts seems to fix the issue.

Very Cool.

I can dig it. I like the workarounds for issues.

Is there any hope left? Please tell there is!

A good healthy relationship with a finished product game is the perfect cure for Alpha Gaming blues. <3
