Point was that if they are locked on they will likely be set to low and people would make it even worse (their performance). -

Irony is that lowering the shadow settings is likely to cause lag rather than solving it, as the game seems to have a bigger chance of being CPU limited over GPU limited and lowering your shadows renders them over the CPU :P. -

If you'd get that close you'd have been long dead and on long distances you don't even see the objects that detailed and would've seen them regardless of what settings you use... -

There is actually a lot of fuel tanks and you shouldn't be looking at the pumps but the actual big tanks (and that are really a LOT of those). Just look at them (best spot is slightly left of the middle) and then use your scroll wheel-menu.

It's likely a clean-up issue with the 1000s of objects in the game (all the weapons and items on the ground that your cpu has to cycle through). What happens when you run ARMA2 in singleplayer modus (IE the Showroom)? I get over 300 FPS (300 to 650ish) then, with my graphics being a mix of high and very high.

You can get rid of zombies by passing a sharp corner (IE a house) or by running into a pine tree or bush and then immediately switching to either crouch or prone position. I'm sure I have some footage of myself getting rid of zombies within seconds plenty of times if you need a video example... -

In real life I'd stack up 100s if not 1000s cans of beans and go on top of the hotel in Cherno with an AS50 that I found in someone's garage and shoot at everything that moves. -
This can be coded in on the Engine side of RV too, or the UDK (in less than 20 lines of code, experience ;)) or any other engine (Frostbite), .... ,....... and ..... Same thing, can be added if it was a desired feature, which it never was in ARMA2, so it wasn't there for DayZ either, but if they want to add it they can, easily :). What do you think will happen when you get a new binary using the Real Virtuality Engine that has stripped out the whole scripting scene that you don't need in DayZ? Si. A lot of things here are mentioned as being Engine related, which they are not. A lot of features are simply there, or missing, because ARMA2 didn't need them or needed them as a military SIMULATOR. If Engine A is better than B in the case of DayZ is not something that's worth discussing as that's a decision to be made by people who will have far more knowledge on the subject than people posting here ;). The most important is that cheating will always exist, but in DayZ it's easier due to a feature that is there for ARMA2 and stripping that out would be easy on a standalone, even on ARMA2's engine.... Feel free to discuss about the subject, but "X can do this that the current engine can't!" is as false as false can be. PS: Going to an engine like the CryEngine3 will also be caught in your budget, as suddenly this game loses any chances on a Minecraft-paypment-model, and delay DayZ by many years ;).

Yes, if you see a heli now they are scripted in or you are on a 'private' server. They will be back soon enough though.

It was a joke as a follow-up to Sakeoe. I bet most of us played games we were 'yoo toung' for (or watched movies for that matter). -
I wasn't trying to nail down the suggestion, just the part where you felt so threatened by time surprised me. I do think there have to be more systems in place that cause vehicle owner swaps to occur more often.

HDR seems to have that too, at least for me. -
Most guns in the game beat up cars and the people inside of them up big time as it is. Add to that that you can hear a car from far away and that they are far more visible, less flexible and very fragile (hit a tire, the engine or the driver) I don't see how vehicles can be so much of a threat to you. Long before they can even see you, you can hide or prepare to ambush them.

Yes, effects like Shadow are rendered on the CPU if set lower and the game is already CPU limited for most people as it is. -

Also, the number of dead people on the beach is increased a lot by people respawning when they see they are too far from their destination for their liking. The system with blood bags is a preferred one. You also see people looking for Morphine help for their legs. There should indeed be more systems in place that promote helping each other. It is however hard to get an action to help both sides. Say you meet up together at the beach (both without weapons obviously). You enter a town and see a shotgun and a rifle. Do you trust the other and let him grab the other or do you try to jump on 1 of them asap and kill the other before he picks up the other weapon.
