    Zombie Aggro

    Sticky this man's post for all the impatient/QQ/kiddies. They apparently aggro more to flares and smoke nades now. My partner and I had at least 7 on us out in the open on NWAF (crazy, I know) and 1 smoke grenade had them all distracted. Some tried to look back and run but then got pulled into the mystery of the smoke immediately afterwards. We walked off with no problems at all. They huddled around it and we even did laps around the zed basically- no aggro

    Some feature ideas requesting feedback

    The towers should have more benefits like active global chat to those individuals who can access it while running, this would make maintence worth it. Along with preventing ghosting. It could also slow down zombie spawns? It will take a good amount of gas and storage space so make this thing a valued and somewhat rate commodity. Also, make it small enough to fit under camo netting for bases. To be fair, it should have a fly effect like dead bodies do while powered. Generators are very loud when on.

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

    Those experiencing bodies vanishing upon pvp could just be running into dc'ers who leave when knocked out. For others talking about bear traps- they seem rare and they are the LEAST of our problems right now. Major issues I've experienced: 1. Zeds spawning too close to players upon shooting 2. Spawns should occur 2 mins after gunshots (giving about 1 min or so to loot while area is cleared, then it's time to GTFO or face another horde. Fair, IMO.) 3. De sync is really causing hard rubber banding, and spawn/time warps 4 items collected during time warps vanish from player, including fresh blood transfusions 5. Server instability and hanging load screens Positives from patch: 1. I like the detection now, for zeds should be able to see you from a distance when standing 2. Smoother when server is not lagging hard 3. Larger initial zed spawn numbers 4. Path finding for zeds improved making then walk straighter (not perfect) 5. Legs did not shatter upon being hulk smashed many times 6. Running from/ losing zombies is better atm.
  4. Like someone suggested earlier- bend the whole infected idea some and use the traditional model: only headshots kill. This would make zombies unrelenting and spawning so many at random unnecessary. Body shots render a zombie unconscious for a second or two before it stands back up and gives chase. Players should have to finish the job or run after the knock down. Make their defenses stronger since their offense is already potent. Slow their run speed just a tad and give them more frightening sounds and you've got some great foes. Their detection is already being address in 1.7.2 Edit- with lower number of zombies spawning for gunshots (seeing they are tougher) performance would improve ( I would imagine) and there should be more challenge. 2. Ammo could spawn at the rate it does now because you're going to use it.. A lot... Especially facing down 5 or so zeds with this difficulty. Let's face it, melee will not be a centerfold in this game. Hatchets look and act wierd because of the aoe

    Give 3DP Off a Try

    Sure- if weapon models & reload animations were better/cleaner. right now, 1st is way too clunky to me even with head bob off. I only use 1st in tight spaces and iron sights. I prefer to travel with 3rd when trekking or sneaking. I just ask others to respect how people want to view the game- when they ask to respect how they want to play the game. ( being a cold blooded bandit, ect )

    They are infected/sick humans not actual zombies, so I'm guessing body shots count because of this fact. Think 28 days later zombies. Edit- it might add some needed fear though. Don't get me wrong, I do like this idea a lot.

    assault rifle VS pistol

    Hang on, I might have killed you. I had a revolver and two shotted a man on NWAF, in the firehouse building. If that was you, you're a poor shot. I bolted right in front of you, checked to see if you're friendly only to receive fire, and returned until you dropped. Not sure if it was you though. That body had some great loot.. My buddy was a happy camper. I didn't need it. Even had the m4 mentioned and a .50 cal.
  11. Signed. Especially for tents that actually eat gear then explode like a frag grenade after capacity, which then attracts all the zeds in every city to feast on the exploiter's burning body. :cool:

  13. Looks like we got another victim here. We've all be capped by makarov noobs before' date=' it's fine. But then we learned to become [b']VICTORS, now we do the capping. Sometimes we get capped too, by other wood-be victors, who sometimes ram us with their phallic horns and remain the victors. This however, should not be your concern, this is high level shit I'm talking about here. You, on the other hand, have barns to raid. At least your life goal is complete: to be an utter joke :rolleyes:

Besides you're probably a keyboard warrior like the rest who think they're real killers all of a sudden. Playing a sim is way different than actually experiencing it. I'm sure you won't find all this epic loot you might have in real life. You won't be a victor. Sorry bud.
  15. How did he do the right thing to survive when the only way he survived was the 2 guys he killed? Sounds like someone can't survive on his own, and needs the loot of others who scavenged to live... Otherwise, he can't find anything but a hatchet. Doesn't sound right to me.

    Just to clarify- were you server hopping to get bandaged and rescued? You got a longer hour glass after video cut out which usually means you hopped a server while unconscious the first time. Maybe I missed something in the vid? Not trying to troll here, but it seemed wierd. Nice vid though. Edit- this is for lesson learned vid

    Great story. Changes my mind about the very defensive nature I've developed over the course of playing. Not saying I am going to stop shooting those with a gun pointed at me, but I wouldn't mind helping others.
  18. What's funny is- 50% of the posters who claim they'd shoot on sight in real life are too young/don't own one, or are opposed to the ownership of a firearm. (not saying you can't believe in such an opinion, even if I differ.) So tell me again how everyone would be shooting each other with sniper rifles and handguns with such frequency as this again? End of story. There should be some balance here, OP has a point, even though he might have went about it too far at first.
  19. Personally I would just avoid a fight when you're in an immediate disadvantage such as this. You're going to have to get lucky and stumble upon him. Chances are he is server hopping between moving his vantage points. If he is a legit player and you suspect him in a building, throw a flare inside so zombies 30m away aggro it. Step away and see if it flushes him out from your own vantage point. Edit- this is for future notice. Seeing this thread is older
  20. Well we already had a food and water shortage for a few days. People couldn't stop complaining. Even though it adds an interesting twist, but it might put a huge dent in the one thing making this game grow so fast- the huge player base. Dayz probably sold more copies of arma2 than arma2 did itself. It'll pay off down the road since rocket already works for bi. I don't think making the game so hard will work for that reason right now.

Whatever it is, cool or not, it's coming from someone who doesn't even care enough to acknowledge what the game already provides. Teamwork is practically [i']all there is in this game. All those people dying all the time dragging the survival time down to 30 minutes? It's because they're not in teams or not working well with their teams. Incentives to cooperative play are prevelant and more are coming. Utilizing them is how I have survived for 17 days on my current survivor and 19 days on the previous, and how my primary teammate is on day 36 all the while the average is 30 minutes... If you're going to post suggestions for improvements at least make an attempt to experience and acknowledge the teamplay aspects that already exist so that you appear to speak from a platform of experience and reason rather than wild, reactionary bullshit. I'm going to go read your idea now. Edit: Actually an excellent idea and one I've had myself. If only your post wouldn't have started with the stupidity I might have joined the conversation less angry. Oh, well. Unlike this idea which is quite possibly the most retarded I've read on the forums since their inception.   22. Well I understand where you are coming from as I started playing DayZ solo then stopped playing entirely because of the incentives already in the game to team up. I started playing again when some of my friends got into it. The thing is' date=' currently we are a group of 7, and we shoot on sight. It seems to me that to change the kill on sight issue, there would have to be an incentive to not kill on sight. Currently there is an incentive to kill on sight (you can loot them). I think flipping this backwards would dramatically alter the game, not sure if I'd like it myself. That's not to say i'm entirely against a massive change like this, I would have to try it out to know. [/quote'] Might be interesting if only dead bandits can be looted but then that would cause mass qq and complaints how we are destroying their choice of play. But I have even been shot unarmed and 0 items with me. They knew this too. Probably just this COD syndrome. It is temping to shoot too because it's realistic in the fact that even a well placed mak shot can kill someone ( not saying this should be changed. ) A better group inventory management system, group chat, or radio (could be an item in game that allows global chat between those who have it) could be the solution to help friendlies find friendlies to team up with. It doesn't have to be forced, but giving ways to find in game groups might be best. Or have some rare barracaded places that require two people or more to secure. (not too many for solo players should not be punished.)

You're all feeding a stupid thread that should have had not 1 reply, but instead has 10+ pages and a dayz staffer trying to do first grade math in his post.
