    300+ words. Completely offtopic and no substance besides "this is more than a (typical) PvP games" (see 7 words same message). No idea why you even brought it up (because i said its bad in pvp? the scenario that YOU mentioned?). It seems like you just pick some keywords(scenario, pvp), completely ignore any context, and write what currently runs through your mind. No matter if this even fits in the current discussion in anyway.

    I am sorry if I am begin rude but you keep repeating it over and over again. You keep ignoring points that have been brought up bring up no counter points but tell stories that span multiple sentences just to get across a point that could have been depicted with a few words and still is no real counter argument.

    Finally I will leave you an examination of our previous comments so that you understand what I expect of a discussion so that we can have better discussions in the future.

    Here I show why I think that your answer of your question doesn’t make sense. Argument(only pull trigger once) and Counterargument(1 body shot is meaningless)

    Here I show that there can be reasons for the weapon but they are not related to the mechanics of game but to your taste. Nothing wrong with that but not a strong argument imo.

    Don’t try to argue that that weapon has any value in pvp by putting it in some weird scenarios.

    Here I want to make it clear that no matter the scenario you will not give this weapon value in pvp (as shown 22 won). I called it weird because your scenario implies getting a sawed of weapon + ammo and a 22 rile + mag and nothing else (weapon wise) which is unlikely and will not happen often (not impossible but still unlikely since other better weapon are easier to get and more common).

    Now to your last comment

    Completely different discussion with information that everybody knows. Is it a normal pvp? What is normal? What has this question to do with the current discussion? Utterly different discussion that is not needed.

    How you deal with DayZ is your choice, the way I deal with it is my choice - I don't see any flag to capture, etc - you possibly think a fishing pole and an axe is more of a waste of time than an AK

    but suppose your AK has no ammo left?.. maybe you can poke the dude with your fishing pole? or maybe you have a spare gun in your mini damaged backpack

    But why would you be wearing a small backpack when you could be wearing a large one?

    Comparisons of weapons tools, and clothing out of the blue.

    Explaining things that nobody asked for (we all know that an ak without ammo is not as good as an axe, thanks) and that makes no sense (weapons and tools have their own slot so why did you bring it up again?) Then you moved to clothes (I see backpack as clothes) in the last sentence which are a whole discussion in their own rights.

    I didn’t mention any of this. I didn’t say any of this is false or true. Why bring it up? Just to get to the point that you can take “inferior” items( the small backpack) because you want? Despite the point that clothes have vastly different criteria than weapons?

    Well - that's because you are playing DayZ - ALL the stuff that happens in this game are "scenarios"

    For your style of play, you have made an intelligent decision about what weapon you want. You will find hat other folk make other decisions and might have other styles of play.

    Still keeping with the Dayz can be played how you want part. Still wondering how this has anything to do with the IZH. You can still do it with the IZH removed. You can still do it with the IZH replaced. How a “style” of play is reliant on this weapon I don’t know.

    I have already said if you want it for rp or flair fine. But there is no reason to repeat the same thing over and over again. Its your opinion and that’s fine but as said before keep it at that and don’t try to say it has any other value by saying it is good when used this or that way as you have tried in your previous comment

    You just found a loaded sawn off in the middle of some battle and you grab it and get out of the way, you also got 1 can of ruined beans.. (that's all..) but you survived past your spawn

    NOW up country a while later you have found a .22 rifle AND in the next bedroom a full mag - (lucky dude)

    And at this moment you are searching through some houses at the edge of town, looking for something a little better before you go big time

    And you wonder to yourself:

    DayZ is an experience where those that invest the most time, gain the most.

    Barrels with holes vs normal fireplace.
    Natural Leather Jacket vs any other 4 slot
    Time spent vs gain is not in your favor here.

    I know that barrels are valuable for storing things but what is not worth for is fire and tanning which is why I suggest barrels that are made for these purposes while requiring little work for the devs to put into.

  4. Would love to do some leather tanning or see some burning barrels but currently barrels are too valuable for stashing things. Barrels are therefore super rare and if you find one you will probably take it with you to make a stash.

     

    I therefore suggest that some barrels should be placed into towns with the following rules:

    • The barrels should not be moveable besides if you make holes into them
    • The barrels will respawn indefinitely if removed
    • The respawn time should not be longer than 1h

  5. So being able to have a sawn off "rifle" in addition to the mosin is a bad thing. I like variety, crappy guns or not when you're down on your luck and finally find a gun that goes with some ammo you're carrying it's always a "happy" moment.

    As said if the improve the sawn of mechanic than it might become useful. Just think your example through. Why would you switch from a mosin to the sawn off? Mosin does more damage and can shoot multiple times and switching takes ages, just to shoot 1 bullet its awful. 1 bullet in close range will probably always be awful so I dont know if they really can improve it.

    And again if you are "happy" that you found an IZH then you would also be happy if you would find a CR.

    I really like variety too but it should be meaningful otherwise the world will fill with junk..

    Should they remove the derringer too?

    The IZH is fine with reloading from the hot bar and it's ammo being in civilian spawns now.

    Many things get removed from games that are fully functional because the game is simply better without them. Imo the game would be better if all IZH get replaced by Cr527 since the cr has "happy" moments for the player (find a mag, find a scope) while fitting the same role

    Derringer has a distinct role which is begin the smallest firearm in game (although I think it should take even less since the derringer IRL is smaller than a can of beans). Its suffers from the bad gun draw speed in game which is why it unpopular but that’s a balance not a design issue.


  7. IZH 18 is useless since the only thing that makes the IZH attractive IRL is its cheap price. The only reason why it’s in game is probably its popularity (or the popularity of Izhevsk weapons in general) in eastern European countries.

     

    Even if we get changes to the scope the IZH will only be a worse version of the CR and therefore still have no real roll besides being filler. Now some say filler or junk items are needed but I think that’s wrong and just an easy way out (game design wise). Instead of filler items there should be situational items (the car, cooking and gardening parts are good examples for this) that fill the world with items that are not always useful but can have an important role.

     

    Maybe if we get a version where all the other weapons become very rare then it might have a place or when the saw off mechanic becomes more useful but so far its meh

    Currently I don’t think that flair is a good enough reason to keep this weapon in game and think it will probably be replaced/removed.


  8. I think the big problem is the ridiculous size of the tents and their bad storage capacity compared to their size. Just compare the size of barrel (49 Slots) to the tent (63 Slots), its retarded.

    Barrels are just the superior storage unit and I hope they will get removed/nerfed soon since they are supposed to be also used for other things (leather,fire) which will not happen until they are changed.

    If we get helis than we will have problems with the tents. Maybe reduce the view range ? Dunno we will see once we get them.

  9. Really - the helicrashes are just a way of spreading rare loot and getting players to move around the country so they don't all meet for a big clambake at each military compound..

    This story WILL happen to you:

    One day you'll be thinking about some beanz

    You'll wander round a bush for no reason and walk face first into a helicrash right there, with a Vintorez lying out in plain view so it's the first thing you see.

    Unreal!    Don't panic...

    DayZ -  it happens like that. You just walked into it.. (ok don't  hyperventilate).  Stay cool.  GET it - get to cover.

    Move.

    You'll grab that thing an be out of there so fast, zig-zagging through the trees, expecting a bullet any second.

    I'll bet you don't even stop for a couple of miles even to look at it.

    And in fact that's when your problems start.

    It always happens in DayZ sooner or later.

    As already said thats the only benefit the helis provide but the chances are very slim (0,036 in the best case)

    + There is the chance that it is an weapon that needs an mag which only spawns at heli which turns the interesting weapon in a useless burden.

    Also why does it have to be 8 weapons? Why not only leave 1 or 2 at helis and move the rest to the military?

    Would keep this moment you speak of in game and add more variety to the pvp.


  10. SERIOUSLY : Some items are rare and some are not rare. If a weapon is very rare that means NOT everybody can have one even if they search for days.

     

    I am a PvP beginner, so please explain:

    What weapons do you NEED exactly to PvP?  Can anyone even try to PvP without an AUG?

    Rarity for a reason is fine. For example I think its good that ghillies are very hard to get since they provide a big advantage to a player and can change your play style quite drastically.

    Rarity for the sake of rarity is ass design. You can take a weapon thats spawn in a heli (lets take the aug) and switch it with a comparable military spawn weapon like the ak74 and the game would play exactly the same.

    No you dont need an aug for pvp.

     

     

    I think your argument is pretty convoluted, if not downright self-contradictory. I'm saying it's just luck unless you try, and that it takes effort to maximise the probabilities. You are not showing much evidence of understanding how to maximise those probabilities.

     

    Finding rare stuff, as pilgrim says, is (and should) difficult. This is the point of DayZ - there are as many potential playstyles as there are players. You can have a laugh, PvP in a dress with an AK. Or you can do things differently. But you shouldn't expect all elements of the game to conform to your playstyle.

    If you point out the parts that are faulty I will try to explain them in a clearer way.


  11. If you acknowledge that most heli spawns are quite close to military locations, why in that case are you saying they should only spawn at military locations? Not only is this looking more and more like a whine, but not a very consistent one at that.

     

    It's obvious that crash site spawning is  a game mechanic you don't like because it doesn't suit you. You'd like it to be easier. I get that. But this is not a game designed to be easy. Rare loot should be rare, and should take effort to find. Either put that effort in (as some of us do), or accept that it's a matter of luck. You can't have it both ways.

    Again keep your aggression I am not interested in it.

    I explained quite in detail why I think a military spawn would have the same effect but perform better. Currently as you say its just luck, a big slot machine that does add very little to the game.

    Btw good try at the "you want it easy part" when an airfield spawn would make it actually harder, you know since its an heavy pvp area instead of a uneventful walk through the woods.

    With lucky heli crash i referred to finding a heli when not looking for it. Which is why I have included things like finding the mag ect. since this plays an important role if you only find one by accident.

    90% of the helis are within <10 minutes to the big military locations so they dont spread that much. Since there are about 9 military locations (excluding Prisons, Policestations and guardhouses) the spread might be even bigger than with the current spots.

    Atlast I also would appreciate it if you tone down your passive aggressive tone no one is trying to harm you and the change would probably not affect you. You could still do all the stuff you mentioned as well as before

    Thanks for your answer but you missed my points. I know, and stated, that for pvp there are better options.

    I am also quite confused with your "civiian weapons" and " military weapons" statement. Getting an ak is piss easy(even on private server) and doesnt take much time and I never said otherwise. Or do you only count heli weapons as military I am unsure please clarify.

    Btw don’t do these IRL examples please don’t.

     

    Back to helis

    Helis spawn nothing but tools for pvp but are to much effort for pvp which makes them pointless. The only benefit, imo, of the heli system is that a player might find a lucky heli crash but I dont think that happens often when you look at the odds

    • Have heli spawn in front of you ( 1/14(4 Helis) actually even lower since you have to be at there at the right time)
    • Have the heli spawn a weapon at all (From my experience at least 50% of the helis do not spawn any weapon besides nades)
    • Have it spawn a mag for the right weapon (lets assume it does every time)
    • Actually want the weapon (lets assume you like every weapon)
    • = Best case scenario you have a chance of ~0,036 (~1/30) of this happening (getting the right number in roulette is 1/37)

     

    If we would just let the heli loot spawn at the military areas we would have a better game since we would have more weapon variety.

    Just let the weapon spawn with less chance than the ak74 (I think the current spawn table is sks(most)>aks>akm>ak74) and everything would be fine.

     

    Inb4 “you just want gear when you start” If I can get an ak in 1 hour I should get a slightly better ak (AUG) in 2 otherwise no one who values his time will ever go for it (at least in the current build).

     

    Side note: I have done even more heli runs (probably my last ones) and still not had 1 fight at them

    Its completely fucked there are so many problems with it: Admins hoping duping, restarting ghosting, low pop looting. Every time I watch a streamer how plays on public I see a shitload of this “rare” heli weapons it just shows that the system doesnt work.


  14. Both loose ammo and ammo boxes spawn the maximum stackable amount for that ammo type.

    So even if a box says "20 rounds of...", or whatever, it'll actually give you more than it's supposed to. 

    Ah thanks for the info. I knew that there was some problem with the ammo but i still think my suggestion would be good if this bug gets fixed

    Now I gotta admit it this system does make some weapons very rare but I think it overdid and does it in the worst way.  That’s far too long for what they offer and is not worth it if you just want good gear for pvp,AH see here is where your first confusion begins. DayZ is not JUST a pvp run and gun game. Your not suppose to have top end pvp gear right out of the gate. By allowing this , all the Devs would be doing is encouraging More of that play style. It suppose to be ( and will eventually be) a survival game , with pvp elements. The chance for pvp is suppose to be just another risk to your survival , not your primary focus.. 

     

     if you put hundreds of hours into it. I dont see how the game profits from such a randomness. Thats actually the point.. Rare things are suppose to be rare..In my opinion , the eventual goal is to make things like Heli crashes not something you can go "hunt for " but will just be that rare thing you randomly encounter while out doing other stuff, ( this is what DayZ was truly awesome for) Those random things that leave you with stories to tell your friends about. As it is right now. Is kinda lame.. within a few hours all the PvPers have matching cooky cutter gear loadouts. You see PvE survivalist deer hunting with fully decked out M4s.. Whats next ? Fishing with grenades ? 

    If the goal is long term survival , and you had to live for a week with nothing but a bow before finding any working gun ammo combo , You would not just to such a hurry to go get killed in pvp. 

    They are trying to find a balance between the PvP and the PvE players, cater too much to either and you ruin the game for the other side.

    Would have worked if not a majority of the crash sites would have been located around military areas. Eventually they will spread out over the entire map. Right now they are only on the west side , just to make them easy to find for testing. It currently only takes a hour or so to run the spawn points and check all the spots. Will become even faster with cars and later Helis . Eventually they will add spawn points out to the east and north sides of the map, imagine the fun when we have a hundred or more spawn points and only one or two set to spawn in every few hours ,

    Again,, not suppose to "hunt them " I think you're eventually just suppose to randomly get lucky and find one. Right now its just a matter of perspective ..

    I have found countless looted helis and also a fair amount of not looted ones yet I never had a fight at these sites Your very lucky , I have killed many people at heli sites, especially the smokers.  On a full pop server , If i find one , and it has nothing good, I'll camp it for a little while, And kill who ever comes up to check it . Which increases my odds of returning to camp with better items .. One way or another every heli can pay off . 

     

     

     

    Thanks for you feedback and you have some nice points however many of them aim at or talk about a game we wont see for a long time. There is sadly no real point in trying to discuss how things work out when the game completly changes so I can only really talk about the game how it currently is. However I want to stress here again how more and more weapons become added to the crash sites. Is it really needed that so many weapons spawn in this manner? I would understand it if it is for really game changin things like the guilli but for these weapons that are just a tad better than the rest. Would the game really be worse if the helis would only spawn m4 and svds (just exmaples) and the rest would be moved to the military locations?

    Btw how in the world do you run all the spots in 1 hour it takes me far more time (by foot)

     

    OP I think you are overthinking it. If you want to be a serious heli hunter (and I am, pretty serious), the following things apply:

     

    1. You will run into others and get into fights if you play on high pops. A lot.

    2. It takes real stamina and determination

    3. You will probably get into trading (most serious traders are well into hunting crash sites)

     

    I think it's working pretty well in 0.59, apart from the fact that M4s are not spawning, and the occasional anti-immersive disappearance of a crashed helicopter in front of your eyes... More people are doing it now because they (thankfully) can't really farm the huts as they did in 0.58.

    1) As said not a single fight despite running the route a lot of time. Maybe I am just too carefull or extremly lucky.

    2) It takes consecutive time. If I spent 1 hour each day for 100 days my chances are far worse than 10 hours for 10 days. And thats a problem since some people simply cant sink in that much time per day/playtime

It takes me on average about 10 hours to find a single heli crash site weapon. That’s far to long for what they offer and is not worth it if you just want good gear for pvp, an akm ak and mosin or winchester is not that much worse than a what the helis have to offer. Then there is the problem of the randomness, just let me list how much you have to gamble if you want a certain weapon:

     

    1. Find one of the few Heli sites

    2. Be the first one there

    3. Get the right heli type

    4. Get the right weapon

    4 steps that dont have good odds and you have to fulfill all of them. If you are unlucky you might never find a certain weapon even if you put hundreds of hours into it. I dont see how the game profits from such a randomness.

There are only a few desolate crash sites that are in areas you would never visit if not for heli loot. I am of course aware that if they were spread further the loot would have become even more harder to get but this could have been compensated

    Just wandering off and luckily finding a heli is possible but very very slim or to be more precise finding a heli who has still loot is very slim. Loot doesent re-spawn so you have to be first. This means that people will constantly search them so you probably will only be the first if you are lucky enough to have a heli spawn right in front of you.

    I have found countless looted helis and also a fair amount of not looted ones yet I never had a fight at these sites (note I'm playing on full pop server). There are 2 simple reasons for this. First the helis despawn pretty quick and second nobody stays and waits because they dont respawn loot. As a bonus the heli farm route (excluding the airfield) is pretty safe. Much wood and cover and there are multiple ways. I also have never encountered another heli runner - its safe and pretty boring.

     

    To sum it up

    In my experience the heli crash sites do nothing but hide more and more weapons from the players. If you have only a little of time available you can completely forget going for them and if you want the maximum action you also should forget them. The only reason is if you are a completionist and have a lots of spare time and dont want to fight. 
    My biggest problem is though how more and more weapons become added to this system which just turns it it into a big gamble and if you want to try a weapon or have a favourite you are just screwed and nobody really gains anything from this system

    Overall I dont like it. Whats your thoughts?

  17. Only talking about the ammo spawned by the server not dropped by players. I think it would look more realistic and be far more enjoyable for players since you don’t have to search each building with open inventory.

    Big Ammo stacks could be for example stacks that contain more than 50% of the max stack amount.


  18. the rarity of .308 ammo is fine once you find the first box.  unless you empty the gun at absolutely everything/everyone that moves, you find it faster than you use it.  I've got ~180 rounds lying around right now.  until you find the first box of .308, grab a cr527.  it'll take the scope and it uses sks ammo which is more common.

     

    I do agree that the rarity of .22 and shotgun ammo is weird.

    I find it pretty strange that the stacks of .308 spawn as stacks of 40, which is the same as 9mm. Its completly overkill for the .308 and far to less for the 9mm


  19. With .59 I noticed a huge change in the availability and location of ammunition\magazine. 

    I wanted to share my findings with you and see if my experience is the same as yours to see if I might be doing something wrong. 

    All of my data comes from playing at the WOBO EU community private server

     

     

    Locations ordered by times searched 

    1. Small Cities
    2. Medium Cities
    3. Heli crash sites
    4. Big military bases (NWAF,Myshinko)
    5. Big cities
    6. Small military bases

     

    Small and Medium Cities proofed to be very safe and easy to loot which is why I searched them the most.   

    Heli crash sites where often safe but always looted. 

    Big military bases provided the most loot which makes them worth the risk. 

    Big cities and small military bases were often as risky as the big military bases while providing far less loot. 

     

     

    Locations ordered by ammo yielded 

    1. Big military bases (Very High)
    2. Police Stations (Medium)
    3. Small military bases (Medium)
    4. Cars (Low)
    5. Civilian buildings (very very low)
    6. Heli crashsites (nearly always looted)

     

    Ammo has become far more concentrated in the big military bases. Even though police stations now spawn a good amount of smg mags they are still not even close to the big military places (Hence the jump “medium” to “very high”). 

    However the biggest change I noticed is how little ammo is now spawning in civilian buildings. I have had situations where I searched a small, medium and big city in succession without finding a single type of ammo or mag in civilian buildings (excluding police stations).

    There are a few things I find extremely odd about this: 

    First the probably weakest type of Ammo (.22 and 12 gauge) have become extremely rare. Even before the patch the weapon using these types of ammo were extremely unpopular (from my experience) and where ditched at the first sign of another usable weapon.

    Sniper Ammo has become pretty scare I have found more 5.56mm rounds than I have Winchester Ammo. However this doesn’t fit in with the abundance of the 9x39mm rounds.

    Most of the 9mm rounds where found in military bases in the ammo strips for the Red9 (~90%)

    I have found about as much 9mm as I have of ammos in from places 5-12 combined

    I have probably found 10-20 times more 7.62x39mm than 9mm rounds. Which shows there is a massive gap between military rounds and civilian.

    The biggest winner, in comparison with the latest patch, are sub machine guns. They seem to spawn in greater numbers and spawn in police stations as well as military locations which gives them a very good spawn chance. Of course the leader is still the military gear mainly AKs and AKMs but smgs got a nice boost and availability.

    Pistols on the other hand lost hard. Civilian buildings hardly spawn a mag anymore and in police stations they have to fight with the smgs. A result of this is that most fresh spawn fights are now done with smgs. Since the start of 59 I have only been shot at by a pistol about 1 or 2 times.

    Besides fresh spawn fights, which are done with smgs, later gunfights seems to be done mainly with AKMs /Ak74 or sks most of the time. I have also watched a couple of streams which pretty much showed the same pattern.

     

    Results/Thoughts:

    I feel like .58 spawned too much ammo and the current patch tried to fix this by spawning more guns and less ammo but didn’t really consider military gear/police gear. Which leads to a dominance of these weapons. Ammo doesn’t really feel more scarce if you look for the right weapons/right places. This leads to a situation where weapon viability has gone down pretty hard and most people use only a few weapons
