I would love if someone could help me out. I do a shitty "Let's Not Die" of DayZ and I ended my last attempt at a video with a Makarov and a broken bone (with like 5k blood but I'll worry about one thing at a time if you don't have a blood bag to spare). I'm pretty sure I'm in Cherno. I'm near the clocktower with the bell in it, in a building on the other side of the area with the statue of soldiers. If someone could help me out I'd be more than willing to give you some spare ammunition I've collected for two-handed weapons (slugs and pellets, lee einfield mag or two, if you are interested I'll double check what I got). If you can help me out, PM me and we can work something out, and I'll obviously include it all in my video.

I'm fine with not having a weapon to start off with, but I still don't get why we start off with the 8 slot bag when there is a smaller bag we can find. But to stop some of the bitching here I say: 1x Makarov 1x Makarov Mag 1x Bandage 1x Painkiller NO BAGS.

Haha, I am actually very curious on how the community would react to spawning with absolutely nothing. Making us find our very first backpack would make us cherish it even more, let alone anything else we find. Personally, I like it and I die consistently enough as it is :P

Oh, well I definitely take back what I said about it being a pain in the ass to implement, if it is already in the game engine somehow. The only problem is how do it in a balanced way that wouldn't turn Day Z into a stealth game focused on melee kills. I just foresee people going through the towns, creeping up on zombies to stealth kill them, rather then just trying to creep around the zombies and scavenge. Obviously guns wouldn't be useless because you would still have to defend yourself from other players, but it would diminish their role in the game a little too much I feel. And of course by the time I post someone has already posted a perfectly acceptable execution of how they could go about it. The "only carry one knife and axe" at a time is necessary for an idea like that to work though.

Random is random. That means you could potentially spawn with less than what we already do (ie nothing), or we spawn with a Winchester or even more powerful gun? I don't approve. If you mean random as in "there is a certain pool of items and weapons you can start with" then maaaaybe, but not until they find a way to fix the rampant respawning people do already just based on location.

I don't think melee is entirely necessary (not to mention would probably be a pain in the ass to implement in a balanced way). If anything they should make the zombies a bit slower than the survivors. I mean zombies are inherently "dead" or "rotting" so why the hell do they run just as fast (faster?) then a person with two perfectly functioning legs? That may be a little "game-breaky" though with the new patch in that you can probably just keep outrunning a zombie until you are out of their vision. I don't know, I like the idea of a melee and in real life that would obviously be a necessity, but this mod can do without it, I feel.

I think if anything they should remove the blood gain from food. It may not be easy to get all the items you need to cook some meat, but once you have them you are set for life it seems. I want to suggest a blood regeneration mechanic over time but that would just promote hiding in the forests until you are full blood (assuming you have the food and water to do so of course). I guess I just don't like how little blood you get from cans compared to how much you can get from hunting.

That is kind of the opposite to "as real as possible". Not everyone will have a gun you are right, so how does that justify everyone starting off with a shotgun? I think they did the right thing by spawning us with nothing in that getting a gun should feel rewarding, not "I have a shotgun, let's go on a killing spree until I die and respawn with another shotgun". My 2 cents.

lol Having read only the first/last couple of pages I just have to say this thread is fucking hilarious. I may not have as good as a story as some as you folks, but I definitely am keeping this thread bookmarked for future lulz.

I think the moment when I said "Alright, fuck everyone else" is probably my third life in DayZ and also my third death to a bandit. One of the first times was a sniper, fine. Another time I helped kill a couple zombies chasing someone who proceeded to thank me with a bullet in my skull. Then the third time I was running along the coast, saw someone coming towards me, so I saluted. He didn't take too kindly to being saluted at. Considering I only played a couple of games and died three times to players after I didn't do anything wrong, I changed my attitude to the point where I trust no one. I do wish I could have someone that could give me a blood transfusion sometimes though... but I think it is more likely that they will kill me and then take the blood bag and run so I don't lament on it for too long (since I usually die anyway haha)

YES! I don't care if I can't kill zombies from the start, as long as there is a decent chance I will find a weapon, I am happy with having to stealth until I do. Maybe basic pistol spawns should be increased if they aren't already.

I'm just playing DayZ and uploading it to Youtube, as a complete noob to both the mod and ARMA itself. I'm sure plenty of you guys will dislike this series because I'm not really succeeding in actually surviving, let alone trying to get a car or some other objective I may set for myself. I have 7 videos up right now with a few more ready to be uploaded that I'll be putting up in the next couple of days. If you want to see someone die every other video then look no further! I swear I'm trying to progress! :P
