Sanity system...New animals, pets and more intersting hunting mechanic...
nacrom replied to Hendrix (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm not down with the sanity system. The reward for groupings are already there without making a system like this - someone watching your back, sharing supplies, etc. It will become extremely important to be grouped when the hacking/duping issues are resolved. Dogs: Love the idea. Mans best friend. Loyal, obedient, keep you warm at night in a tent (been there), attack anyone who comes near. Dislike the idea of "taking them over" and fetching items though. Cats: Can't train cats to do stuff like this. Might make a good meal though. Hunting: Like the wild animals potentially attacking. Like bait. The team has done a bang-up job with the current food prep system and a little spice to "hunting" would be nice. Not sure about tranquilizers etc. -
Would be cool if you could attach your tent to a suitable backpack - czech pack, coyote backpack or Alice pack. It would be bulky and increase your chance of being spotted but would not take up 3 bp slots.

Run through Steam Crash to Desktop Event Log:
nacrom replied to kyle939's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hey lil' gangsta. If you installed six launcher on your box I'd recommend formatting and starting from scratch. -
Weight would be nice but I doubt we will see it for any items. Besides single person tents - which it really looks like these are - should't weight more than five lbs. To drawback would be your going around with it stuck on the outside of your pack making you much more visible.

Do not use this pos. I started to install it and backed out half way through. I had to re-install google chrome to get rid of all the crap it added.

I saw a few of these but don't recall them being harder. I did bless myself when I saw it though (not really). +1 for fat zombies! You should replace "personality" with "physical characteristics" though. I thought you were going to start suggesting emo zombies.

Rocket says they're "infected" not "zombies" - end of argument

Do ducks fart? -
Do you see text on the screen indicating you are running a different version? It can sometimes be hard to see.
-
+1 for crates. Underground structures would be dope as well.

8 is about right for a cow.

How long are you waiting? Are you in Cherno or Electro on a heavily populated server? How many different servers are trying? Possible that: Someone just ran through the area and the zeds are chasing them. All the loot has been taken and you will have to wait for it to respawn. If one empty tin can is left in a loot-spawn pile nothing will ever respawn there. You are dc'ing immediately after picking up a weapon and the server isn't saving it. Try waiting a few minutes.

Yea I took a M249 and a shit load of sd stanag ammo from a tent and left my ak-47 kobra a couple morphine and beans. I wanted to leave a note on the map saying thanks for the gun etc. but I didn't want to give the tent location away to everyone else. They also had an FN-FAL and a couple other longs. Looked like a totally legit tent owned by a legit player(s) so I didn't want to be a dick.

Damaged engine causing a car to explode in a fireball when starting it?
nacrom replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's pretty obvious you don't have much experience with vehicles as this has absolutely nothing to do with your driving skill. Please go troll somewhere else. -
Damaged engine causing a car to explode in a fireball when starting it?
nacrom replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It takes a very specific series of events in order for a vehicle to EXPLODE IN A BALL OF FIRE. The entire system is so Hollywood it's laughable. True story: ATV randomly flips over. Engine is red. We leave it in the field. A few hours later another member of the group gets on it. He drives 3 feet and gets consumed by a fireball. Moral of story: ATV's are deathtraps as are vehicles with damaged engines. But, yay for bear traps! -
+1 Agree with OP. Replace with something we can bury and is harder to discover. Really like the idea of getting in the tent to get your body temp up. It's so much safer than lighting a fire at night but requires you to carry around the tent.

Penalties for soft drink, making water more beneficial.
nacrom replied to iPatchi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
+1 for water > soft drink. I absolutely love the hunting, cooking meat thing I have to say. It's genius. -
Characters bound to specific servers might work if things were much more stable. Problem now is the serving you are playing on could very likely just go down for any amount of time at any time. It will suck when you get dc'd by external factors but lockout times after a dc might help the issue. Say 10 mins. Give you some time to twack it.

The current situation makes it pretty much pointless to kill zombies and it's a bit strange to see them just appear out of thin air 10 seconds later. Take a downed helicopter for instance: Helicopter holds what? Ten people max? I can sit in front of one shooting zombies infinitely. So instead of five or six zeds at a downed heli, how about 10 or 12 and making them respawn after say 10 minutes instead of 10 seconds? I know it's probably done this way to avoid server lag but figured I’d throw the suggestion out there.

Increase number of zombies decrease spawn times.
nacrom replied to nacrom's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Agreed. -
You could just lay down in the road and let the zeds eat you.

To all those who use the realism argument to support snipers/bandits killing for fun: There may be a few people gone off the deep end during/after WWZ. People who have lost touch with reality would probably be sniping HUMANS just for "fun". However the proportion is highly exaggerated in Dayz. When faced with quite a real possibility of the extinction of the entire human race, humans would not act thus – contributing to the extinction rather than working to fight the real enemy - Zeds - and prevent it. It's just how we are wired. If you like to snipe. Snipe away. Just don't use the argument.
-
Having five vehicles in your camp also greatly increases it's chances of being discovered.
-
We didn't hack any vehicles into the game at all. If your playing with a group it's much better as there a more eyes searching. A couple examples of where I've found vehicles: Found a blue van west of kranastov at a farm in the woods, end of a small dirt road. ATV's always spawn on Klen mountain and Black Lack. Although they are super risky and not worth the effort of repairing as they spontaneously blow up. Found a bus up north of black lack filled with supplies - obviously a player/group left it there. Found a military truck on the east side of the mountain overlooking the Polana Factory. It had a red engine so I assume it's owner was in the factory searching for parts. I relieved him of this burden :) Found white off-road on the side of the road just north of Polona factory. Hactch back near a small shed just north of myshkino. Don't give up, you'll find them soon enough.

Zombies should be much much much more dangerous...
nacrom replied to Terin44's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The true danger of a zombie comes from potential infection and numbers. Zombies lack any thought or tactics beyond running straight at their prey with arms outstretched and mouth open. I believe use survivors are supposed to be immune to this infection so they only have to worry about being "torn apart" Why do you believe zombies should have super smell, sight or strength?
