Not sneaking is the new sneaking. That is true. I did the same thing. Spend hours getting swarmed by zombies 50 feet away so I said "screw it. I'm running for that building". Walked away with a ass-ton of gear and b-lined it to the tree line. Everyone complaining will feel different once they do have some gear and are safe in the woods. Ever hear about the man who only appreciated what he worked hard for? Yea, that's every man and woman out there. I really believe the light will go on when your heart is pounding and your running for the tree line with your alice pack full of survival gear.

I downloaded and installed it but removed it all when I realized it had also put a bunch of garbage on my machine. It's actually very easy to just copy and paste the dayz files yourself. God only knows what that thing will do to your machine.

Something like a sixth sense would make the most sense. Some "feeling" you get via text or visual aid to warn you this player is a bandit. Humans do have intuition so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch. "My spider senses are tingling and so are my balls".

Don't have one. New patch, you don't start with one. I have most things I need but no water bottle. I'd trade a pack full of beef steaks for one at this point.

Along these same lines, I was wondering if there is ever a plan to allow chars to drink directly from a water source? I'm dying of thirst while standing knee deep in a fresh water pond.

Yea happened to me yesterday. Had a char for 3 days - big accomplishment for me as I'm very new. I couldn't log in bc I had problems patching and when I finally did I was starving and thirsty. After searching for about an hour I made a call to risk being spotted and run for some army tents in the hopes I'd find food. No luck. Only thing found was me - by about 12 zombies which turned into 22. Died a beautiful death though, downing most of them before they got me.

Good tips. I would advise using shift to run and have walk as a default though. At least when within a mile of larger towns.

"Houses of Holy Beans" unrecorded Led Zeppelin song? Been searching the store in a town for a while now. I go in search, leave and go someplace else for a bit then come back but no tent yet. Funny thing is 3 days ago I found one in the middle of an airfield but thought it took up too much space so didn't bother with it :( Maybe the tent gods are turning away from me for this act of heresy.

Can someone please tell me if there has been any patches or updates to ARMA2, AO or Dayz over the past 48 hours which I should be installing? Been having issues with my game and I'm wondering if I have missed an update. Many thanks.

Thanks for the help. That's the information I've been looking for really. So to be sure I have this correct what I need to do is: Delete Dayz folder and files Download new files and replace them all. Download and install the latest AO beta patch.

Sarcasm. Funny.I did read it actually but it's pretty vague on what was required of me to get up to date and play. I just started playing this game last week and I assumed I would receive a more meaningful error if my files were not up to date. I was also playing happily away yesterday when all of a sudden I couldn't get on any servers. I know its a "free" mod but the only reason I bought Arma was to play this game and from what I can tell so did most people - including the 3 friends I have convinced to buy it. Hopefully the Change Management people at Arma will eventually get all this wired tight but right now I'm feeling a bit thrown to the wolves.

Getting No entry error ´bin\config.bin/CfgMagazines.2Rnd_shotgun_74slug' and then get stuck on loading screen. I've waiting up to 15 minutes and nothing happens. I have to alt+tab out and restart. Seems to vary as to what is missing from the bin folder but the result is the same(bin\config.bin/CfgMagazines.shotgun_pellets'.) I was playing fine for days and haven't updated anything. Now I just keep getting this error over and over no matter what server I try to join. I'm running as admin. I did notice a patch came out the weekend. Was I supposed to update? Any help would be appreciated.

WRONG. As of yesterday I started getting this error. Totally effects my game. As in, I cannot play on any servers.

I'm new as well. Playing for a week and have 40 hours logged though :) I avoid Cherno and Elektro like the plague. Twice now I've spent a full day gathering things only to be shot in those towns. Never go there unless your with a group of people you trust (your father, brother and best man for example). Go north. Look for barns, deer stands and other buildings off by themselves. This way even if you do get detected by the zomblairs you can easily dispatch them from the structure you are in and move on without worrying about 25 showing up for tea. There are usually about 5-10 around any of these smaller places. Most importantly use patience, slow walking, crouching and constantly looking around all over the place (double tap alt) while baby stepping in a linear direction. Watch the paths the zombies are heading on and think "if I keep going this way will I run into it?". If the answer is yet then back that train up and start again.
