    If I can avoid another player, I do. If it's unavoidable I try to hide, wait for them to get in my LOS and go for the kill. The only people I trust are those I am on voice coms with via third party chat tool. Too many hard lessons learned.

    I don't know about the knife but the hatchet is a weapon and a tool. Right click it and select "Equip Item" (or something like that) if it is in your tool-belt. You must have a free primary weapon slot. Likewise to move it back to your belt, right click and select "move to tool-belt"

    Editing because I cannot delete my original post which was in poor taste. I didn't read the article in the link I posted before posting. Simply liked the picture in it. Won't happen again.

    As a former, national level competitive Judo athlete I could dive off a four foot drop and walk away without too much trouble. Not saying I wouldn't have a few bruises but I doubt I'd break a major bone. So falling off a couple steps and snapping my femur in two is a bit hard to swallow.

    Breaking a bone from 4 feet is unrealistic unless you are thrown. Simply walking off a 4 foot drop would not break a normal, healthy, human leg!

    I too have wondered about how my character managed to survive while the Russian Military could not. Well after ready World War Z I've got plenty of ideas but it basically boils down to two things: A boat and luck :)

    Damn I didn't realize the g-17 had a light. It's very week in combat but I guess all pistols are. Talking about toolbelts and gear. It's a bit of messing around to drop items, do what you need to do and pick them up again but it's kind of cool. Yesterday I had to drop my shotgun to equip my axe and silently kill a boar, harvest wood, start a fire and cook the meat. Then I moved the axe back to my tool belt, picked up the shotty and kept going through the woods. I really loved the entire little scenario. It made me feel very vulnerable while prepping and cooking as my shotty was on the ground. Genius!

    You would find the online maps helpful I bet. I printed it out on 12 pages, glued it to a piece of cardboard and thumbtacked it to the wall above my monitor. Play in the dark, drink from a military canteen and eat beans.

    Side chat was distracting but as a new player I often get valuable information such as how to move my hatchet from the tool-belt to my hand. Ideally individuals could turn it off and on I suppose but if I had to make choice I would vote for off.

    Just said this another post but blood transfusions do not encourage team play. They are used a means of luring bandit victims with offers of "help". Sociopath: "Hey do you need a blood transfusion?" Me:"Yes" Sociopath: "Ok dude. Come here and we will give you one, we have lots" Me:"Great. Thanks so much man. Really appreciate it." Sociopath: "Oh no problem at all" *BANG* *Dead*

    Disagree. Maybe if you could drink directly from fresh water sources I'd change my mind. And the argument that using blood packs forces team play works both ways. Yesterday two guys lured me to them with mics offering to give me a transfusion then shot me in the head. I was doing really well too. Even with the patch.

    Same question as above. I will try Teamspeak channel tonight and hopefully catch one of you there. My name steam name is "cricket". If I'm not working, having sex or eating I'm playing dayz. Grouping up with a few people I can actually trust would be great.
