Good to hear that the game won't have pay-to-win! I'm not concerned about getting 60fps constantly (I normally cap my games at 43FPS anyways) and I do understand that Alpha gameplay can follow a sort of: Implement -> Optimize -> Improve cycle. Sometime that means removing a feature to improve it (Project Zomboid did this with NPCs), that being said a zombie game without zombies is a little disappointed. Based on the status reports (I didn't even realize there was an announcement section! Google brought me to DayZ PC and I just assumed it was the highest level of the forum!) I've read there seems to be decent communication with the community (Bi-weekly is fine by me) and I don't consider two months to be too long for an update (Though monthly is better, even if they aren't perfect). I don't have the money for Arma II and DayZ right now so I'll just get the Standalone for the time being. The reviews are positive on steam and it does seem like the devs are communicating relatively well with the community. Hopefully this won't turn into a "Double Fine Spacebase DF-9" type of ordeal where the game is never finished. I'm more than willing to pay additional money in to support the game so long as development is consistent, communcation is forthcoming, and the developers focus on this product alone (i.e. No side projects until this one nears completion). I appreciate all the answers above me! I was certainly surprised to find no zombies in DayZ! I guess it's just Day for the time being ;)

Hey everyone, I've been looking at various zombie MMO-like games, and while the "MMO" aspect itself isn't particularly attractive I like the general idea of the game. I wasn't able to find a FAQ (Maybe I'm just blind, but I really did try) and I have some questions before I purchase: - Is the game being regularly updated? If yes, what is the average time between updates? I was looking at "The Dead Linger" but it seems to be suffering from a developer who is spread between many projects. - Does this game have any form of "Pay to win"? (This includes any form of purchasable weaponry, even by gambling/random chance setups, if you can pay money and get an item that could be beneficial (i.e. Food, weapons, etc.) then it is pay-to-win) This put me off of H1Z1 with their loot crates. - Is the game able to render many zombies at once? I have a relatively powerful PC (AMD Radeon 390X, Core i7 6700K @ 5GHz, 32GB of 3200MHz DDR4, etc.) so I'm not worried about graphics lag. Project Zomboid can render many Zombies given it's 2D-like isometric style, I've yet to see a 3D Game capable of rendering many zombies. - From what I've read the standalone version varies greatly from the original Mod, If I want new versions do I get the standalone version or the mod? Which is being updated more frequently? Is it worth owning Arma II to play DayZ or am I fine with the Standalone version? - Is the Multiplayer community overly aggressive? Am I going to struggle with zombies or is some guy with an assault rifle going to run up and blow my head off every time I spawn? And I'm fully aware of the Early Access status, I don't care if the game has bugs/instability so long as it is generally playable and the game is being consistently updated. A lot of my perceptions come from Let's Plays of H1Z1 and I'm not sure if they carry over. If my questions have been answered in some kind of FAQ/Planned or Implemented Features List/Mod-Standalone comparison type of page I apologize again for missing it.
