    How was your Day(Z)?

Happy B-day as well! Swam out to prison island as a freshie last night. After 2 circuits I ended up kitted to the teeth and loaded for bear. Might as well list the highlights of my gearfull bliss. Full plate carrier, AKM with a drum mag, an aks74u with mag, cr75 with 2 mags, full tkso/gorka gear, a sposn backpack and an extra highcap vest too! All giddy, I turn around to make my way out of the courtyard when I hear footsteps. "Hey mister, how's it going?" All I get is a garbled response, so I ask the guy to type in the chat. Turns out to be a fresh spawn who swam out. I hook the grateful lad up with the extra high cap then lead him to a sposn bag. Adios little hombre. Drenched to the bone I make my way up onto the beach warily checking my surroundings. Things look clear, I look like the grand prize at some carnivals shooting gallery. Need fire, warmth, some sort of hide away to take stock and figure out a gameplan. As I head west towards the gas station I hear shots nearby, behind me. So I break away and flank back, hang around for awhile with no movement or any sign of activity. Strange dayz, gut says my little hombre bought it on the beach. Starting to feel like my generosity comes with a hard price to pay for those on the receiving end. Off to the wilderness, armed, deadly and drenched.

    Private vs Public

I predominately play on private hives, half the fun of the game is gearing up, love going from rags to richs. All of your points are pretty much spot on in my experiences. Of course players will be players, you'll have the KoSers along with all other types, yet I feel like I get way more interactions on private hives while public tends to be shoot first ask questions to a dead guy later. And with the lack of server hopping you'll find quite a wide variety of gear amongst players. I love it. So I'll personally stick to my favorite private servers, but at the same time I've got no problems with public servers.

Hey Weyland, thanks for getting back to me. Bummer but I figured it would be a no go. Still loving US-1, it's been my home for nearly half a year now. But I'm really curious if you guys will ever do away with the constant 24 hour sun filled days and bring back the night cycle. It's so well done now with the sun setting/rising, I do miss having a full day/night cycle. So thanks again for running such an awesome server, love US-1.

    Love this game!

Hey dude almost the most important crafting you can do is to make an improvised backpack. Find a burlap sack and some rope(or make your own rope from combining two stacks of rags, 6 in a stack). Drag the rope onto the burlap sack and choose the option to make a courier bag. Leave it on the ground and go to a bush or tree and cut some sticks(you'll need a stack of 3). Drag the sticks onto the courier bag and bam! You got yourself one of the best backpacks in the game. It's little things like this and learning how to craft splints(a stick and a rag) that'll make life in this hellish dayZ that much easier.

Right on, I wish you guys some good luck! If I did the public server thing I'd be more than glad to swing by and take a look. Great idea, hope you guys can get it up and running.

Tents, additions for hiding them on the map

I've had similar thoughts myself. I find tents constantly, in pristine condition they stick out terribly. Another idea would be to allow pitching tents on slopes such as hills. Right now good tent spots are easily found.

Holy shit dude, that's a pretty nice "little" camp you got there.

    How was your Day(Z)?

So Santa came through big time on Christmas Day. I was way up north at our ultra secret camp when I randomly broke my legs. Damn it. Boots and pants ruined. Good thing all my gear was in a protector case. I made my way to a feed shack nearby and noticed a tent about 50 yards down in the tree line. Sneakily approaching the camp I scope it out before moving in. This place is loaded, 2 drum mags, suppressed AKM, more mags for it and a whole bunch more stuff. Seems like the kind of shop a KoS kid would setup. So I take the tent and barrel along with all the goodness. Looks like our camps grown. Moved out towards a nearby city(all locations are screened for our camps security haha) still in need of boots. As I head across a field to check out a barn 4 car tents and a military tent render in all around the barn. Oh shit! Here I am midway across this damn field with no cover. Duck behind a haybale and do some recon. No movement, so I rush into the barn where I find another tent and 2 barrels. Here's were it gets good. There's a note in the tent, a note from a fella who's camp we raided back during .58. So of course I remind this dude how much I love barrels, who snagged them, then take one of them into the woods ditch my bag and go back for the last barrel and the military tent. Oh yea! On my way back to camp I stumbled across yet another camp, what the hell is going on??! This one was just farming and survival gear. Had a note so I responded inquiring about meeting up and left some goodies. And to top it all off after finding those camps I must've stumbled into a loot explosion down in vybor military base after dumping all my gear at camp. So thanks Santa, you the man.

Yea that whole barking orders and yelling or talking loudly and intimidating seems to normally escalate situations. I find that when people are hyped up like this it doesn't end well, or their intentions are probably sinister. A calm, cool, collected player goes alot further with me than someone yelling at me to drop my weapon and get on the ground(to which I normally respond by putting some distance between us and starting to evade). Oh and I'm always suspicious of anyone who just shouts friendly, yea right bud why you got that motorcycle helmet??

@thatguy The private server I play on has been steadily becoming very hostile lately. So it was definetly cool to have a few lead-less encounters.

Moment of Silence for Plate Carrier

And here I was thinking that all of the vests and the chest holster took the same amount of damage currently. I thought it mostly depended on what you were carrying in it.

    How was your Day(Z)?

After stashing all of my gear (along with my friend and his gear) we headed down into berenzino to go roam around the newly changed upper part of town. Which I really like what they've done to it, looks and feels good. I ran smack into another fully geared player while crossing an intersection. A younger gentleman with a slightly disturbing manor, due to his double carrying nature he couldn't holster his mosin, he didn't seem to comfortable out in the street and attempted to get me to go up in a house with him. Oh no, that ain't happening. My friend still remained unseen and while talking with the geared guy we decided to have my buddy come running up the street like a freshie and throw this guy off balance. Well it worked, I could've plastered this guy with my red-9 but he seemed to have calmed down and the holiday spirit was alive. Good thing we didn't gun him down in cold blood because he did have a friend who came up with an AK. At this point I said farewell and backed off to observe and make sure they didn't mess with my bud. Well they didn't. These stand up citizens actually gifted him a hiking jacket with a G19 locked and loaded with a mag. Cool dudes for sure. My friend logged off and I kept wandering around that area. Observed another player looting cars, double carrying while sporting a motorcycle helmet made me hesitant to approach him. Typed a little "hello" to him and lost him as he moved through the supermarket. Resumed looting and got nearly fully geared with civilian weaponry(pump action shotty, red-9 and the glock along with plenty of ammo and supplies). Around this time I was back at that intersection from earlier, surrounded by infected, when I heard shots nearby and took cover in a house to let the infected move past. That's when I heard footsteps. Running. Right outside. The dude I'd seen earlier runs in with a shotgun and sees me drawing him down with mine, I ask him to put it down and we can talk. Turns out to be a cool guy and we make our way through town to the PD. No action and he's got no ammo, I'm about to log so we head across the street to the two story house and I hook him up with the empty pump action then leave the ammo downstairs on my way out. All in all I'm feeling pretty good about the night as I run off into the woods. No pointless violence and some good tense encounters. That's when I heard a burst of .380 somewhere behind, no gunfire in response. Yea I'm pretty sure that guy I helped got mowed down, happy holidayz amigo.
  13. Until they fix items spawning inside floors and walls we need the vicinity window. I personally like it, it makes sorting loot out manageable. Imagine spreading things across the ground and manually having to look at and select every single different little item, might get tedious quick. But if they ever reinstitute hardcore servers I'd be all for the removal of the vicinity window for that game mode.
  14. During .58 we had protector cases left on the ground for easily 45 days. Curious as to how long they last now. Also I've heard tents are harder to come by in .59, haven't gone searching for them yet but the apts near novo always provided for me. How's the tent hunt been going for you guys?

Been playing on your US-1 server for awhile now alongside one of your whitelisted members. Really enjoy the server. Now my question, would love to get whitelisted but I absolutely don't use social media. I just don't like it and have no need for it. Is there any way to get whitelisted without having accounts on all of that social media stuff? Thanks for the response in advance.

    I'm done with 0.58

Maybe it's just the servers I play on but I've had a pretty damned good time with this patch so far. Less KoS, some great encounters, tense firefights and raiding camps throughout it all. No major lag or desync here either, besides the lack of infected(and the Quonset hut glitch) I really can't figure out why people have been hating on .58 so much.
  17. They make a clip(not magazine) for glocks that makes carrying a pistol in the small of your back viable. I know it's fine cause I've got one on my old G19. You swap out the rear firing pin plate and replace it with a new one that has two threaded holes machined into it and then you just bolt the clip onto the new plate. The clip travels down the right side of the slide and terminates under the ejection port. It's really slick and on the few occasions I've carried the glock with me it's been secure and as comfortable as can be for carrying a pistol of that size. http://clipdraw.com/product/best-glock-concealed-carry-holsters/ They've got it on the wrong side in that pic, but you can see where it tapers off to go under the ejector. I guess in theory either side is fine.

    Finding Tents in 0.58

I find countless amounts of tents in the apartments on the west side of novo, found 5(including a military tent) in two buildings side by side the other day. And that was on a private server. As for finding camps I seem to stumble across them multiple times a day, sometimes theres nothing but a can of beans and sometimes you hit the jackpot. Just keep your head on a swivel while traveling, works for me.

    [Poll] Official servers 1pp only

Voted banana, this doesn't affect me due to my preference for private servers. I just personally don't like the idea of server hopping and like to be tied into one server continuously. As for 1PP vs 3PP, I can get down with either but my personally tastes lay with 3PP. I like the wider field of view and being able to enjoy my surroundings as I move across the countryside.

    DayZ is peaceful

Hey there fellow survivors, names Mad Vlad(if the username isn't a dead give away haha). Been playing DayZ for the last half year and absolutely loving it. I try to be a friendly, helpful guy but the ravaged society we dwell in forces my hand from time to time. You can usually find me on the DayZ Colony US-1 server trekking the northern half of the map, setting up camps and scrounging for goods. My trademark green beanie is a good way of identifying me. As of lately though I've been make journeys back down south into the mayhem of the coastal regions(people are crazy on the coast!). Well if anyone plays on the colony US-1 or just wants to have some adventures feel free to hit me up. Keep your heads on a swivel amigos!
