Justification for our group tactic: *Sniper team: LR support (before operation starts, check surrounding woods for enemies.) 1 Sniper w/ DMR -exactly what you think 1 spotter w/ rangefinder, automatic/SD weapon(for close combat)/launcher -spot/range targets, take out vehicles, protect sniper Sniper-"See that guy by the ACT?" Spotter-"Yea, you got about 900m to him" Sniper-"Alright, firing" *bang* Spotter-"Alright, he's down. See those zeds by the door?" Sniper-" What about 'em?" Spotter-"Smoke 2 needs em gone" *bang*...*bang* Sniper-"Done" Infil team: main looters (loot, try and stay undetected) 1 Pointman w/silenced weapon -job is to silently clear the path ahead of zeds/unsuspecting players 1 supporter w/automatic weapon/shotgun -job is to help fend of zeds/players if detected, extra firepower Support team: Backup (Come to rescue Infil team if large groups of zeds/small group of players are alerted) 1 heavy w/M240, launcher -take out large crowds or vehicles 1 medic w/ AR -extra gun, carries medical supplies to heal injured teammates. Heli team: (extra support/rescue for when shit hits the fan:huge zombie hordes, large enemy group, etc.) 1 pilot w/ basic weaponry -pilots the chopper 2 door gunners w/ basic weaponry -fire door guns to defend chopper/support ground troops. With this configuration, an attacking force, be it zed or human, can only injure/kill 1-2 of us before we are alerted to their presence.

Not giving shit because of the team play' date=' but because he said they play on unpopulated servers ( for easy looting) but sometimes they go on populated servers. [/quote'] we play on a server that has a big population, just pretty much everyone on it is a regular.

Next time you quote someone, try not changing their words to fit their argument.

We do play on public servers as well, ideally US12, Atlanta 22, and Dallas 21, because they are a) hardcore b) 15-30 players at all times c) fun, and d) populated by some of the most ruthless bandits, who we enjoy fighting. And when I say private, I mean hardly any new players join it because it has an inverse timezone.

My group enjoys the hunt, the loot, and the thrills. We roll on a somewhat private server, about 15 of us in the group. We have set up a big presence on the server. Our (average) vehicles: -1 helicopter -2 Land rovers -2 Yamahas -1 Ural -1 UAZ -2 PBX(stached on coast) Something our group has that some lack is tactics. We raid the NW airfield on a regular basis. But we don't just half-ass it, we go full out. During peak server hours (50-60 people, all hostile, mostly in groups of 5-6), we use everything. We break our group into smaller squads, and use either teamspeak or vent to communicate. The squads: (everyone has NVGs) 2 sniper squads= (Irish 1 and Irish 2) -2 people per squad -both have ghillie consists of: sniper -DMR -PDW spotter -MP5SD/M4A1 SD -M1911 -No backback, instead has launcher. -Rangefinders 2 infiltration squads= (Smoke 1 and Smoke 2) -2 people per squad -both wear camo consists of: pointman -M4A1 SD/MP5SD -M9SD support -AK-74/M16/M1014 -M9SD 2 support squads (for when things get messy)= (Shepherd 1 and Shepherd 2) -2 people per consists of: heavy -M240 -launcher -PDW Medic -AK/M16/MP5 -M1911 -lots of bandages, blood packs, epi pens, morphine, painkillers 1 heli "Casevac" squad (for when SHTF)= (Papa 12) -3 people -1 pilot(very good) -2 gunners (all 3's gear: -AK/M16/MP5/L8/M1014 -Revolver -Food/drinks/medicine 1. Our sniper teams use the Yamaha's to reach over watch positions near the airfield, searching for other snipers as they do. 2. Once 1 is accomplished, The support and infil teams load into the Offroads, 1 squad of each type per car. They then head to different ends of the airfield, where the infil teams eject. 3. Support teams drive the offroads into the treeline and wait for call for help. Infil teams, with sniper over watch, systematically search the hangars/ ACT/ barracks. Any threats, whether Zed or player, are eliminated. 4. Once the looting is done, the infil teams regroup at the ACT, where one of the offroads picks them up. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED Contingencies: 1: Minor crisis the affected infil team reaches a defendable location, while the other infil team stays away. One support team deploys to evac them. 2: Major crisis both infil teams regroup at a defendable location. Both support teams deploy for evac. 3: When Shit Hits The Fan same as #2, but with a twist. The support teams do not go for direct intervention and evac, but set up a safe LZ. The chopper team lifts off from our camp and flies to the airfield(takes 3-4 minutes). Once they arrive, they either provide support or land for evac. Me and my GF ( yes, my GF plays this with me) are Irish 1, while my twin brothers are Irish 2. My friend and his cousins are Smoke 1 and 2. My cousins are Shepherd 1 and 2. My friend, his sister, and his Uncle are Papa 12. My IGN: Lobo Might catch me on the US servers when I'm not on my groups. Feel free to post your groups tactics. I might post more of ours.

This is another story from my bandit spree: New spawn, new life. I find myself on the beach near Elektro. Stealthily, I enter the city and loot the market and the hospital. Exiting on the other side, I swing north, hoping to loot the fire station north of town, as I do almost every time I am at Elektro. As I make my way to the fire station, I hear sniper rounds in the distance. Cautiously, I crawl into the station and head upstairs. Inside, I find nothing but a M1911 with 2 mags, although I am able to convert some revolver mags I found, giving me a total of 5. I then head back down the stairs to find a hatchet has spawned, giving me the ability of stealth killing. I continue north, not following any path or idea, until I come across another survivor near a barn, fending the hordes off with an M107. This gun must be mine. But open conflict is not the answer. I watch as he switches to a revolver and backs into the barn. Shots ensue for about a minute, then silence. When no zombies exit, I head in to inspect. Peaking around the corner, I see him standing by a pile of dead zombies. I quickly type friendly into chat, and he replies in kind. We begin chatting, asking each other about stats such as headshots and murders. I discover that while he has 48 zed kills and 17 headshots, he has no murders and one bandit kill. I ask him about this bandit kill, and he tells me about an epic sniper duel at the NW airfield, which is how he got the M107. As we formulate a plan ( I was attempting nothing long term, as my track record says I will eventually kill him.), he tells me I should take point, because both of his weapons are empty. That was his mistake. I shot him in both his knees. As he lies on the floor, begging for mercy, I inspect the barn. He attempts to crawl away as I am inspecting a pile of loot. I turn to find him gone. Running outside, I spot him about 25m away. I slowly walk after him, watching his desperate attempt to flee the bandit I have revealed myself to be. As his desperate calls remain unanswered, I quicken my pace, switching weapons as I do. I pull ahead of him, and turn as he looks up at me... ...Just as I bring my axe down on his head. Across lives, this is my 21st murder. Seeing as he has nothing of value his weapons being empty and his pack as well, I continue on my path to damnation.

A new spawn, a new life. For me, that was one code I lived by under the DayZ sun. Each life I play differently, fro the Role-model survivor to the treacherous bandit. This story leans more towards the latter. I spawned just west of Elektro, and slowly made my way into the city. The first house I came to was empty, as was the next. It wasn't until I was deep into the city that I hit the jackpot. Food, soda, a larger backpack, and a G17 with 4 mags. It wasn't until I emerged from another house that I saw him: two survivors wielding an AKs. From cover, I called out to him, and he responded. Outgunned, I discovered that they were friendly. I joined up with them on a quest to get to the fire station north of town. Slowly but surely, we emerged from Elektro's grasp and found the body of another survivor. They let me take his DMR and Coyete pack, as well as gave me a much needed blood transfusion. Entering the station, I told them I heard gunshots. They instructed me to search the upper floors while they set up fields of fire to cover both entrances. I was about to head up when I glanced back. Both of them stood with their backs to me, trusting me completely.I switched to my G17... ...and put two bullets into each of their skulls. I grabbed one of their AKs, as well as 8 mags for it. In addition, I took some other basic supplies from them. As I made haste from that location, an interesting sound reached my ears: a car approaching town. I took my DMR and set up on a nearby hill as the driver stopped at the station. He being of the only survivor in the vehicle, I put a round through his legs. As he crawled for cover, I fired again, catching him in the chest and ending his life. I slowly crept up to the land rover, expecting shots to come from anywhere. Upon reaching the vehicle, I hopped into the back seat to check its inventory. Lo and behold, it contained a M107 with 4 mags, an M4A1 CCO with 5 mags, and half a dozen DMR mags, as well as tons of supplies. I hopped into the driver's seat and turned the car northward. But that's where this story ends. I still have some fuel to burn in that car, and a few bullets to spare.

Found another suggestion to make sure that the server version matched the beta patch. Didn't help. List of things I have tried: 1.Try server in timezone where it should be day. --Result: Nightime 2.Try server in timezone where it should be night. --Result: Nightime 3. Tried 1 + 2, then DC'ed and RC'ed to exact same servers. --Result: Double Nightime 4: Tried 1 + 2 + 3 with servers with matched beta patches. --Result: Double Nightime 5: Went back to DayZ 1.7.0, logged onto servers matching desc of 1 + 2. --Result: Time in game matched server timezone. I have therefore concluded that this is a problem with one of the new hotfixes. All my files are correctly set up, beta patches correctly installed, and servers carefully chosen.

Update: Not only is it night when it should be day, it is still night at all other times. I logged into a server today at 1pm, and it said the server time was 2am. The server was in New York (NY2), which is an hour ahead of my timezone, so I understand where the 2 came from, not the am part. So I login to the same server at 9:30 pm today and it is still night. Going by the time of the server earlier, it should now be 10:30 am on this server. However, it is 10:30pm, and still pitch black. DCing and RCing, as suggested on another thread, did not fix this problem. Please, if someone can explain this, please do so soon.

Date/Time: 6/20/12-6/21/12 What happened:I entered a server in my time zone (GMT -6) to find that it was night on the server, even though in reality it was 3pm. I tried to enter various other servers that day and the next, only to be stumped by this glitch. Where you were:Near the NW airfield. What you were doing: Just spawned, hoping to get some loot from the barracks at the south of the airfield. *Current installed version: 1.7.1.5 *Server(s) you were on: I tried 10+ servers, including Chicago 35, Atlanta 22, and Dallas 41 (servers in or near my timezone.)

That is why I suggested only having 1 magazine (8 rounds) so that players can have something in case of emergencies. The problem is that the stealth/hiding mechanics still are almost broken, so hiding from/escaping zeds is nearly impossible. Plus, bandits/new players who find guns almost immediately turn on newly spawned players simpy because they cannot defend themselves.

I have been playing for a week

The starting weapon is really important to surviving. Without this, many new players will die repeatedly until they chance upon someone who will give them one. When I first started, I died 8 times before finding another weapon, and that was with the makarov. Imagine what it would be like without the makarov. It's like spawning at night.....without flares. My suggestion: start with makarov with 1-2 clips (seriously, who carries around 6 magazines daily?) Besides, this is a Post-Soviet semi-russian state. everyone has a gun!(and radiation.)
