  1. I don't know about that idea, on the one hand it could be a really nice feature but on the other hand it's ripe for abuse. Bandits will pistol each other and practice their medical skills every time they die to give them a distinct edge in drawn out fights. You can't punish banditry otherwise it's going against what Rocket wants, but you can't ignore that this is going to happen. Maybe a cooldown on "exp" gained? Once every 2 or 3 minutes would slow it down long enough for it to be not worth doing.
  2. I don't think you know what DayZ is either, I'm fairly sure (not 100%) that Rocket said no skill trees. What you're describing is as close to a skill tree as you can get. Or maybe it is a skill tree if I read it another way, you can choose to put more points in mechanics at the cost of medical skills? Ridiculous. What if I was the medic in a team of two and I was shot? The other player can't give me blood because he doesn't know how. What, I can repair the engine of a chopper but I can't patch a bullet hole using some scrap? That's ridiculous. What people need to remember, is this is just a game at the end of the day. Sometimes I can't have a group of more than two others with me at all times when I play, my friends have lives outside of this game. You shouldn't be penalised for having less people, the repair/medic system is good now. It needs to be less buggy at times, but it's good. As a solo player (if I chose to) I could run around and gather all the parts I need with a fairly large challenge and fix a vehicle, but in a group I can do the same but much faster and more safely. That's the advantage of playing in a group, but you're not at the same disadvantage I.E. You can't fix it at all, because you didn't pick the right skill. I just hope to god Rocket doesn't listen to suggestions like these.

    [DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!

Don't get me wrong, you can game with a laptop. They're just bad options to do so. You can't move the screen where you want it in relation to your eye level, without moving the keyboard too and touchpads are useless (yes, you can use a mouse but the point remains). I find it a little bit of a stretch that any mobile graphics card can run DayZ at maz settings, but if you say it does then I'll take your word for it. Like Rancor said, overheating is probably the worst problem laptops can have. Apart from the ridiculous price you're paying. Also you can't replace parts in the same way you can with a desktop, if you want a bigger screen or different keyboard... well better luck next time, unless you want to get rid of all portability.
  4. Nice idea, but I think an hour is way too long. Maybe it's just me though. I know I'd just take it up north to a remote location too, no chance of (legit) bandits up there. They're all camping populated places.
  5. This is just what you want to see though, I don't think DayZ should be moving to all low tech gear. High end weaponry has it's place in DayZ, and it would make the game boring after you find a weapon if there was no higher end equivalent to hunt for. Don't take stuff out, add more in. Also about the NVGs and night time, if someone doesn't have NVGs and it's dark, 99% of the time they just turn up the brightness and gamma settings so they can see anyway. Then they've basically got NVGs but with every weapon with is even more overpowered. Most of the time people don't want to play on dark servers because they can't see, not just because they're scared of players.

    [DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!

Quite interesting, you play on one overpriced product and considering moving to another. I'll give you some tips; Laptops are bad for gaming. Alienwares are "Microsoft machines". Macs use the same hardware as "Microsoft machines" nowadays. You can build a far superior system to any Mac (when comparing specs and price) for a price substantially lower and install any OS you want onto it, Windows would likely be the first choice because of simple compatibility. This is a irrefutable fact, and yet people still waste large amounts of money on Macs. Or maybe Apple charge so much because business isn't so good any more? I run windows 7 and Linux on my pc, quite comfortably. I could run OSX but there's really no need to (inferior OS in my opinion).
  7. That would be ideal, also I realised I dun goofed. AB- wouldn't be the worst type to be, O- would be. AB+ would be the best type to be, lucky fucks.
  8. That is wrong on so many levels. Plus, has no-one given a thought to blood type? I find it odd that I will walk into a hospital, take a bag of warm blood from a cardboard box and willingly get someone to put it in me, regardless of what blood type it is and I am. I'd be up shit creek if I was an AB-.
  9. Even better, Rocket will provide lore when he can in that case.

Starving to death needs to be COMPLETELY overhauled.

Realism is knowing you can't run for more than a few hundred meters at the speed your character runs at, fully geared without wearing yourself out. Have fun walking for miles, and still getting worn out because you're carrying a tonne of gear.

    How to get Debug back?

    Some solid advice there

i want a teammate like Frankie and Jackfrags

I would never imply that Frankie would script, but if he doesn't then he's a god tier player with eagle vision and a large amount of luck. Again, I would never imply that Frankie scripts. Ever. Seriously though, the chances that you'll find someone like that are fairly slim at best and you'd be better off finding someone who you like playing with (IE a friend or two, I know you like Frankie and all but you're his fan, not his friend(yet?).) and going for a more original take on DayZ videos rather than copying someone else.
  13. I believe we do have lore (Taken from ArmA 2's wiki page) "ARMA 2's single-player campaign, dubbed Operation Harvest Red, is set in the then-future of fall 2009, in the fictional country of Chernarus (English: Black Russia), a former Soviet republic. In the fall of 2009, Chernarus is in a state of political unrest, with its democratic government trying to keep from being overthrown by pro-communist rebels. Among the most powerful of these rebels is a group calling themselves the Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star, abbreviated as ChDKZ. Referred to by the locals as the "Chedakis", the ChDKZ are led by communist revolutionary, Gregori "Akula" (English: Shark) Lopotev. After many months of civil war, the ChDKZ fails to overthrow the current government and set up the Socialist Republic of Chernarus. The Chernarussian government asks the international community for assistance in defeating the rebels, and the United States responded by sending a U.S. Navy Expeditionary Strike Group off the coast of Chernarus, hoping that a presence of an Amphibious Ready Group with hundreds of U.S. Marines embarked on board would calm any tensions in the area. However, the ChDKZ remains undeterred, and by late 2009 the ChDKZ launched a coup d'état against the Chernarussian government, taking control of the northeastern Chernarussian province of South Zagoria. This caused the remaining Chernarussian military forces in the area to retreat towards the coastal town of Zelenogorsk. On 21 September 2009, as a part of their coup, the ChDKZ invaded the island of Útes (which is home to a Chernarussian military training base.) Overwhelmed, the remaining Chernarussian military forces in the area regrouped at a church in the Útes village of Strelka in an attempt to fight off the tenacious ChDKZ attack. Ultimately, the Chernarussian military forces on the island were overwhelmed by the massive onslaught, and the island fell to the ChDKZ. As a result, U.S. Marines, operating nearby from the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship, USS Khe Sanh (LHD-9), launched an amphibious invasion of Útes to liberate the island from the ChDKZ forces. Soon after the U.S. Marines landed on the island, the ChDKZ were routed, and Útes was liberated. A few days after the liberation of Útes, U.S. Marines on board the USS Khe Sanh (LHD-9) prepared to deploy to mainland Chernarus in support of Operation Harvest Red, whose purpose is to bring an end to the civil war in Chernarus and re-establish Chernarussian sovereignty. Officially, the U.S. Marines are deploying to Chernarus as a peacekeeping force. In reality, they are there to capture ChDKZ leader "Akula", and to help defeat the ChDKZ once and for all." That's why the US is there and as any Brit knows, where America goes to war... We get dragged along too. But that's why there's so much military gear around, so there is actually a story behind it. It's not just Rocket saying "You know what we need? Bigger guns."
  14. I said this in another thread, but IR scramblers to better balance nightvision and thermal. Anyone looking in your direction while you're using one can't see anything through a thermal or nightvision device (because they both work using IR as far as I know) but to the naked eye, you're still able to be seen.

L85 Should it stay or go

Try harder and don't run out in the open, even when they have thermal they can't shoot through walls. They only know where you are.

L85 Should it stay or go

If we got another thermal device, I'd be more than okay with that. But the thing is, I like the L85. I'm good with it so it's fun to use

L85 Should it stay or go

You also have to consider, how many players actually visit this forum? And how many of them voted? I'd wager only the ones who have a problem with the game come here, and that's why the 'majority' is so opposed to the L85.

L85 Should it stay or go

Nowhere did I say I wanted the IR scrambler to be as rare as the L85, you read that wrong. But I don't want it to be as common as a tin of beans, otherwise the L85 is useless, striking a balance is important with this. This x1000.

L85 Should it stay or go

I don't know who you're talking about, but having 100% confirmation on a possible enemy location is priceless... I would take that every time IRL. Also let me just say again, Island. With. Military. Bases. The gear that's there isn't going to disappear overnight, it'll be around but rare. Some key words there.

L85 Should it stay or go

Sir I feel you need to learn sarcasm and to not take the internet so seriously. this is all very srs bsniss but please, calm down sir. Also right now I've got an M4A3 and a DMR, so none of the obvious advantages you speak of. I haven't actually had one in a while, but it's always a fun challenge to kill those that do.

L85 Should it stay or go

For those complaining about a realistic survival game as opposed to a military shooter.... Go back to ArmA 2 and play the game. You're a US troop with US reinforcements everywhere. There is tonnes of US weaponry laying around Chernarus and it's going to be found when there's no more US troops to use it. You think M107's and AS50's are OP? Well M4's and AK's are too. Fully auto is SO OP. So are grenades.... Lee Enfields.... Shotguns of all descriptions... Headshots... You guys will complain until we're running around hitting each other with pillows. "OH BT WAHT ABUT THRMALSSS THYRE OP FCK U" IR scrambler. Infared is what the L85's sight uses, so anyone looking at you will basically get a big wall of visual "fuck you" thanks to your IR scrambler. Make the L85 a 0.0005 spawn rate, yes. Remove it entirely? No. Add in an IR scrambler, should go on your toolbelt and be a fairly rare spawn, in barracks, heli crashes and military zombie bodies. Makes sense considering it would be helmet mounted. This also fucks up night vision for anyone who looks at you so it should be a nice balance for that too. I believe this is the best argument (for the first 4 pages, didn't read further) in this thread so far. TL;DR. Keep L85, lower spawn rate massively. Add in an infared scrambler for balancing. Fuck haters, they can't play for shit so they complain instead.

In the defence of snipers (the legit ones), 500m shots can be pretty hard to pull off sometimes. If I'm sitting 600m away with a DMR or an M24 getting a kill is usually a challenge and a lot of people don't appreciate that it actually is hard. It's the >300m ass monkeys with .50cals that suck.

    DayZ: Namalsk

There's nothing wrong with having one shot snipers in the game, as long as the spawn rate for them is balanced. I've only found 2, through lots of gameplay now. One shot snipers force you to play more skillfully and if you can't cut it then you die, I don't see the problem there.
