Little Bird is well capable of cruising at over 250kph, pretty sure it would leave any of the ground vehicles in a cloud of dust. That said i hear what you're getting at. Hopefully once new fixes for player position / vehicle desync are in it should be a relatively quick addition. I have run tests, and a round trip from northwest airfield to the southeast coast and back takes under 8 minutes including takeoff and landings :) assuming the Little Bird is modeled similarly to Arma3.

What is the best weapons for a sniper operator
KenoSkir88 replied to kataro's topic in General Discussion
Yeah as above. the Winchester is a great weapon but harder to line up a rapid second shot. Couple this with the option to double fire the blaze at short to mid range and it's a no brainer for me. I also find the Winchester is one of the most easily recognized sounds at any range, people call it the Elephant Gun based on the hefty report. When i headshot someone with a blaze, less people will instantly recognize the sound as "Sniper" when compared to the Winny or the SVD. The second anyone hears a Winny all eyes are on the hills / tall buildings / anywhere a sniper might sit. Blaze is loud but it's a less recognizable crack from range that is more easily confused with other weapon types which helps my situation. I've made headshots at near 1000m with a Blaze, and while this is reportedly possible with the SVD (even longer i'm told) the gimped scope that fits on an SVD means at anything over 650m is 1. a dot, even through the scope and 2. too far away to tell where the bullet landed in the event that you miss the first shot. This isn't an attack on the SVD, some people use it extremely well so I've heard but for me the lack of meaningful magnification makes it gimped in a sniping role at respectable range. -
I've layed out easy instructions for handguard / bipod application in a different thread, think it was called "AK-74 Handguards" or something similar. If you follow all my steps correctly you can change any handguard, and add a bipod to any ak (except 74u).

You can see the last / current server you joined in the Documents / Dayz folder. File is called "playername".dayzprofile and the last or current server joined will be at the bottom somewhere.

How do you craft a padlock? Anyone got a link to a wiki for base building?

Craft a padlock? Base building? Are you playing DayZ? -
You get the PSO-1 when you find an SVD. People like me will generally throw away the SVD and keep the scope, which will fit on an AKM / 74. Don't think you were firing blanks, maybe just panicking a little :) Try single shots.
-
At 00:30 check the white text that looks like it's on the scope of the ak you picked up. That text is actually attached to the mag to the right, and indicates remaining ammo as a formula since number is too big to show.

Yeah that was a bit of a dick move :| though the guy did "seem" sketchy.

I agree for the most part. A realistic "turning at speed" calculation would change the scope of the entire game, making use of cover and other real life tactics a necessity.

What is the best weapons for a sniper operator
KenoSkir88 replied to kataro's topic in General Discussion
I'd take a Blaze / HScope over an SVD any day of the week. -
Came here to poke the troll but was surprised at OP's new revised posting tactics, kudos. Yeah all the animation stuff is gonna look a bit weird until the new rendering system is properly introduced. Wait until the game is finished then make your points about how it looks i guess. Potentially check out Experimental branch for a change, or as has been mentioned just play occasionally to help with testing until the game is released.

"Nail Bats" and other (realistically) crappy weapons
KenoSkir88 replied to Whyherro123's topic in General Discussion
Umm.. No. The extra drag would be negligible. I get what you're sort of trying to say, but i don't think it makes any sense. If i hit you in the head with a nail-bat, the nails will pierce your skull, and the bat will cause serious fracturing and plenty of hydraulic shock. As i wrench it out again it's going to do even more damage, probably leading to serious bleeding, nerve damage and shock. It's not an either / or choice. You're either getting bones broken by a bat, or bones broken by a bat, heavy bleeding, organ damage etc. -
Interesting moment last night. Me and a friend were on our way through Komorovo and had just killed a cow that ran straight down the main street toward Kamenka. I had an AUG / couple mags and not much else aside from a tactical shirt and some hunting pants, my friend had a mosin and maybe 20 shells plus an MP5 with half a clip. I went to cut up the body so we could eat but realized i had no form of cutting tool. Just as i was joking about being sniped while i looked for stones at the edge of the road, my friend started yelling about a fully geared guy running into Komorovo from the east. I assumed he had heard the shots and started east along the coastal side of town while my friend kept watch down the main street. My friend notifies me the target has crossed the main street heading north, potentially to the well or up the north road inland. I cross town and head up a treeline to the top of the north road out of Komorovo and begin to edge down the north road back toward town, hoping to cut the guy off. Just as I'm moving back toward town i check to my right and see a tiny figure at about 300m running across the north-west field, eventually laying prone in a treeline and facing back toward town sniper style. He was facing my mate so i thought it best not to bother with small talk and just remove the threat asap. I hit him twice and he seems to move behind a tree, peeking out at me ever so slightly. Having not seen him drop yet i just keep piling bullet after bullet into the only part of him i can see as my friend approaches him to clarify. When we got to him we realized he had fallen strangely, making it appear he was still crouched behind the tree from my point of view. I think he died on the 2nd shot and everything after that just served to ruin ALL of his gear apart from his Winchester w/ Hunting Scope  I had been shooting from just on the crest of the hill up there, you can see why it looked like he never fell from my perspective. I got a shiny new Fire Axe and a Winchester which i (later) donated to my single shot com-padre who will from here be known as Red. So.. having looted the only two items which weren't destroyed in my hail of gunfire we turned our attention back to our surroundings and notice another player sneaking in the opposite treeline. There is some confusion however about whether we are both looking at the same guy, since Red has disappeared and is excitedly confused when it comes to accurate descriptive powers ;) Red is killed somewhere in the opposite treeline and shortly after i see the likely perp laying just behind a shallow wall, put one round into him as he lay prone and another about neck level as he stands to run. Perp drops and i begin to move toward the corpse, confident all bad guys were dealt with. I was wrong, just as i approach the 2nd corpse i take an AK shot to the leg from the top of the hill to my left and plenty more attempts whiz past my head as i turn and bolt into some trees and circle back away from the threat. That was the last time i saw any of them. I hid in a nearby bush and tried to bandage but the bandages in my pants are ruined from gunfire, i pull out my stone knife (from the cow, lucky one) and cut up a ruined face-mask also from my pants pocket to no avail. End up panicking for a second before realizing i still have a green facemask on my face. Quickly chop it into rags and stem the bleeding, set to work monitoring the AO from cover until Red can get back from his Cherno spawn. Red gets back to his body, finds no corpse but his MP5 was on the ground with 17rds in the mag. I give him the Winchester and we go back to cutting up the cow. With pockets full of meat we head to the police station to start a fire, but are distracted by yet another player crossing the road in front of us. He didn't look very threatening with his Makarov and his body language suggests looting rather than watchful combat awareness so i assume he is not involved in earlier happenings and approach him. Asked him to place the pistol in it's holster a few times and he complies, where-upon Red politely asks him for his Bag, Vest and Boots. Guy complies and it's all very friendly, we exchange pleasantries and discuss how much nicer it is to Bandit without all the KoS nonsense. This is where it gets even more bizarre.. As Red is happily mugging our new friend i notice a freshie dressed in all green log in a few meters from us in the field. He has no weapons visible and all starter gear so i'm not too worried and tell Red to stay with current target and I'll keep an eye on new guy. Freshie just stands there looking around a bunch, hasn't noticed the 3 of us in the road yet. As he eventually moves toward the road he comes face to face with me and my AUG, along with instructions to stay at distance while we complete our business with first guy, to which he complies. We let first guy go on his way having swapped his bag for Red's and requisitioned his vest and boots, he leaves quickly and is never seen again. Freshie on the other hand is asking if we have any food because he's hungry and explaining to us he literally just bought DayZ and this is his first time logging in ever. A quick check of his steam profile confirms he has about 20 minutes in game ever so we set to work giving him some of our beef (couldn't remember if beef still makes you sick, so figured he'd make a perfectly good test subject) and hooking him up with a Trumpet w/ 12rds and the knowledge to make fire with a stone knife. He is friendly and thankful for all the help, we swap steam info and direct him to Pavlovo military base (he had said he wanted to go there). Last i heard from him the beef didn't hurt him, but he was sick from accidentally sewing himself up with a sewing kit instead of fixing his hat . Fun evening, 2 kills, 1 loss, 1 mugging & 1 new friend who logged in at exactly the right time and place for once :beans: EDIT : Used to think the AUG was junk, have reconsidered based on this experience.

Here you go ya poor butt-hurt little baby, show me on the doll where all the nasty snipers keep killin ya B) -
SvD is a bit of a no-go for me for similar reason, don't like the only scope. I feel like the SvD deserves more mag than it's getting from the PSO-1. That said the PSO-1 on an AKM with a bipod is very nice indeed :)

Zombie's were removed for 1 patch phase to rebuild their AI, the new working one's are on the experimental branch right now where anyone can go play .59. Vehicles have been removed (again temporarily) for basically similar reasons. It's a work in progress so no there isn't a free trial of "testing DayZ". The game hasn't released yet so it hasn't been out for any time at all
-
How is it burning out? It's only being played by testers and people who can't read right now.. The bit you have to realize about modding is that while everyone is aware it takes a lot of time and skill to do, making a game from the ground up takes exponentially more of both and therefor a fair comparison between making a mod and making a whole game / engine is just a silly one to try to make. So.. you reckon it's a game developers job to entertain you with other games while you wait for the games they're working on? It hasn't occurred to you to play games from a different developer in the meantime?

Reloading WIP: Uncocked hammers don't click
KenoSkir88 replied to sushimaster's topic in General Discussion
Actually, i have a 12x scope. I can see through it to varying degrees with my eye anywhere from touching the scope rim to about 5 inches back. I can close my left eye for focus or i can use my left eye as normal to watch the periphery while still seeing the magnified image through my right, bit like a reflex sight. If it's a very bright sun shiny day and i'm at just the wrong angle i may have to snug my eye up to the scope a little (not even that close) to add some shadow and reduce reflections, other than that i am pretty well aware of my closer surroundings while i'm looking down the scope. -
Very well put. :beans:

He wasn't actually swimming like I've seen ground swimmers swim  It'sd almost like when you get glitched from double carrying and look like you're crouched all the time n stuff, except he has hand animations.. weird :( Is it possible someone has used ground swimming as the concept for a script? He wasn't swimming or actually under the ground is why i ask, he looked prone.

Not at all mate i spread my stashes was purely wondering. Good server btw, Bump. -
^ What does that even mean  Anyway i was referencing a necessity at times during DayZ's production for function to take priority over gameplay. Stable doesn't mean most fun by any stretch, it means.. well Stable.

If by "see what i did" you mean fabricate a competition / comparison i never even touched on to try to sound clever then, yeah i think i see it  But since you brought it up, Fallout is finished. See what i did there?
