Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
KenoSkir88 replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I don't want to alarm you or anything, there's at least twice that many. Be careful out there :| -
Ah yeah thanks, sounds like it. Only started happening very recently, 3 / 4 days or so. Lettuce face was funny for ages tho so i don't mind it once in a while :P

[MPGS] Persistence and Auto-Restart Hotfix Deployed

Have you ever considered settling it with a duel? Pistols at dawn kinda thing, we could host it on a private server and broadcast the action on the forums pay per view (1 Can of Peaches). Maybe a triathlon of dueling, orienteering and a grand V3S race.. Is anyone up for running the books? I sense some serious rice gambling afoot B) -
Hmmm, another instance where textures went strange and my resolution dropped suddenly (picture is actual size <_<), turning me into some kind of lettuce.. Edit : Confirming what Mad says, this was far from Novo or any PC breaking zombizzles. Third time i've seen her (once with a male also) while driving out of novo heading east. Rev the truck a few times and hang out a bit on the outskirts to see if she's local :)

[MPGS] Persistence and Auto-Restart Hotfix Deployed

Haha fair enough man :) Guess i was a little hair trigger due to previous forum warrior experiences too. I never stress about glitches in this game, so i'm not part of the apology crew. With that said there have been times where i just happened to decide to stock a base a few days before a wipe, and it does suck a little bit (not sarcasm, literally just a small sigh / chuckle and then back to work happily). I'm ultimately passive about whatever the devs wanna do and i get the whole alpha thing, but that doesn't mean you can't say it sucks to lose stuff you worked to find / create. For someone to be disappointed (ie. it sucked a bit) to lose something, doesn't always funnel them into the i hate alpha rawr! crowd. There can be both a feeling of loss and an understanding of the alpha process simultaneously. They can wipe my stuff whenever they want i don't stash much and don't really care enough to miss much of it, but if Mookie had plans for those guns that are now off the table i'll do my best to help :) Hehe, yeah i know what in all honesty means it just didn't really fit the situation is all :D only reason i threw some banter back at it ;) -

That sounds flashy but "in all honesty" makes very little sense at all. Since there is no form of official ownership in dayz we can safely assume that possession is the decider in the abscence of a moral agreement. Basically you understood exactly what i meant just like anyone else would.. so... if you could avoid picking apart my nice post about helping someone out to try to sound clever i'd appreciate it, since we're all friends and all :) cheers  Edit : Quotation marks for effect. -

Sucks to lose your gear (a very small amount), so i won't scream alpha (partially because it's lost it's meaning of late). I assume you're a privateer Mook but on the off chance you use public servers i'll hook you up another m4 :) threw my svd in a bush a few days back or you could have that too.. -
Look in the wooden guard towers around military areas (wooden, not metal) for hunting scopes and various rifles.

I was basing the opinion on the players of all different walks i have had contact with, be it from forum contacts or people met in game. It is not meant to be evidence of a fact, just the basis for an opinion. I rarely get much insight into why someone just gave me the "you are dead" scene, but as you're well aware that isn't the only way to communicate with other people who play the game . Anyway what i've heard from most i've spoken to has been along the lines of "i really like the idea of banding together with randomers, it's just they'll probably kill me and take my stuff if i don't do it first". I've also felt the same way, and although i still make an effort to create some content rather than shooting everyone on sight i can totally relate to the one's who don't take the risk. The issue with the current trend is that this kind of attitude perpetuates itself.

It's my opinion / experience that the fear group account for the vast majority.

Confirming friendly fire in our group has skyrocketed since there have been no zombies to shoot and people's travel has been predictable. We were testing shotguns on each other yesterday while walking through Novo (truck wheel is the riot shield of the future).

KOS people are not evidence of a flaw, it is a natural evolution of this post apocalyptic sandbox.

Thank's Mookie, i'll put it down to grizzly campfire stories from old survivors :) Still got that head bullet in my pocket for luck, everyone has one u know? ;)

If above method doesn't work, (usually does) - try dragging the hand-guard from the gun to your bag (it wont work, nothing will happen initially) then immediately logging off and back on. In my experience 100% of the time when you log back in, the hand-guard is where you asked it to go before you logged. Works with the "swap hand-guard" action as well.

I assume you have all tried playing a bit on a freshly wiped server to make sure things improve before you wipe yours? I know a few people who regularly wipe their servers so you could pop across and check the difference one day when it's happening to you guys.

It kinda seemed the need for explanation was there.. Just my 2c but your posts in this thread also gave me the impression you had been beaten at DayZ by a sniper and were quite butt-hurt. I use the term "beaten at dayz" to illustrate a point, that the game is not about crafting, sniping, assaulting, role-play or any other single approach or discipline. If a guy waits three hours in a bush and eventually manages to shoot you in the back and take your gear, or even just eliminate you as a threat and move on, then he beat you at DayZ because he is still alive and you are not (regardless what you spent the 3 hours doing). I find this the only way to properly view a sandbox such as this. Whenever i hear someone passive-aggressively mocking another play style i always wonder how many times the complainer has been "beaten" at DayZ by the play style in question.. Your bit about sniping being "lazy" just shows a lack of understanding of what goes into a good sniping strategy. The fact that it "bores you" to have to look for snipers doesn't make their play style lazy, it makes you lazy and is likely the reason you keep getting killed by them and have developed this stigma against the nasty snipers. Reminds me of the anit-kos crowd.. this is exactly the strategy that would emerge imho.. And for extra info i also tend to run & gun, preferring the multi-role tactics i can get from an assault rifle.

Were you alone in the truck? Assume you were the driver? Had a passenger recently char wiped after losing connection in cab of truck with me. [edit - double word postage.]

When this happens to you (Assuming you didn't accidentally join a private / 1pp server) it's important you don't move, change weapons, eat / drink etc. You must ascertain without action if you are in the correct body. If you see new spawn stuff like "I'm hungry" / cold / can't see any items in quick bar, press escape and push EXIT. This has worked for me on a number of occasions, anytime i moved or did anything before realizing what had happened i lost my char permanently. 9 out of 10 times i noticed before moving i exited and when i came back onto a server (do a different one just in case) i had my gear. I know you said you had tried immediately logging out but thought id write this in case you had maybe had a look around yourself or walked a step or something, it's my understanding that most actions will "save over" your actual character file due to new location / item input.

Today i was passing behind Balotta on the way west when i saw a player running from the trees behind the ATC through the fence and around to the front of the ATC. As i was deciding how to engage i saw another player follow him at about 50m. Both were armed with melee weapons and aside from the potential of a pistol or a shotgun out of sight i decided they looked fairly harmless and went to investigate. I wanted to find out if they were friends using good spread tactics or one fairly new spawn hunting another. As i rounded the corner to the front of the ATC one player was just exiting the front door, so i proceeded with threat management and instructed him to lay down and remove all clothing for a brief search and let him know i didn't plan to kill him. I needed to try to track down the other guy without losing control of the first. When questioned Target 1 said he had been following Target 2 and they were not friends, "kill him if you want" he said. I instructed Target 1 to remain in position while i rapidly cleared the ATC and to his credit he did so. Did quick clearance of the ATC and decided Target 2 had logged out or exited down the rear ladder from the roof. As i exited the ATC from the front i noticed Target 2 running south toward Balotta town from the west prison, and make a snap judgement to follow instructing Target 1 he was free to come help me catch Target 2 or leave if he so wished. Target 1 grabs his axe off the floor nearby and i see him running after me at about 50-100m as i sprint southwest toward Balotta town across the runway. I run through the ruins, dive under a gap in the concrete wall and turn right toward Balotta well just in time to see Target 2 exiting the well and running back toward me in the road, i assume trying to grab a quick drink and head east before i catch up to him. He says "Hey don't shoot me bro, please!" and i inform him he will not be harmed assuming he follows my instructions exactly. I take him off the road a bit and instruct him to remain still while i attempt to locate Target 1. I see his blue shirt in the ruins still and instruct Target 2 to remove clothing for weapons search. Now it may seem as if i hadn't clicked that they might be lying to me and actually be working together, but believe me it was in the forefront of my mind the entire time. I just really wanted to find out rather than just egress and never know. So.. when Target 2 says he can't remove his clothes due to a bug, keeps saying things like "wait" it becomes obvious he is stalling for time. I instruct him he has 5 seconds in which to comply or i will be forced to eliminate him as a potential threat, with some small apology i'm sure sounded quite hollow. Then, of course, a bullet cut through the silence and my vision is instantly blurred. I ascertain quickly that i am not dead and that the bullet came from the approximate direction of the ruin (Target 1 you old dog). More bullets fly as i extend range in a weaving pattern but none connect, it's a pistol so the bullets stop after 10-15 rds. I sort out my vision (i still get glitch where i must unblur my own vision after a shock using the video settings menu..) behind some sandbags and begin to circle around the west of the town to re-approach along the coast side. I eventually find Target 1 hiding behind the gas tank next to the well, he has picked up an MP-5 and a skull balaclava in addition to his pistol since last we met but alas he is looking in the wrong direction and not listening. One very satisfying temple shot later my revenge is complete.. I try to be a nice guy but this is a hard world we live in ;) Never found Target 2 again, so potentially he had a great experience in all of this :D Later check revealed i had been hit 1 time directly in my ballistic helmet which had gone from Pristine to Ruined and turned grey :P Had heard recently that a helmet will not stop direct gunfire, mine did.. thanks helmet :D

Spotted 2 days ago up north, there was a male also with her.

Yeah you can still do it, though if no Jerry can is available i suggest you take the time to find couple of cooking pots since they hold 2 PET bottles worth of water. Make sure you are on correct side to aim directly at fuel tank (truck right side) etc.

Ah sorry man i get ya now. That's annoying:P

I havn't found an M4 at a crash site at all in .58 or .57. Have had couple of SVD in my group from Russian crash sites. American sites have yielded new usmc clothing, UMP's, Augs and Stanag mags plus loads of boots / smersh stuff. Pro tip, the servers where bases always disappear randomly are likely some of the best ones to loot in ;)
