[Proper Names 101] Quonset Hut vs Officer Tent
KenoSkir88 replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
My group refer to the Officer Tents purely as "Officer's", for example the two at the NWAF are "Tent Officer" and "Hanger Officer". If anyone thinks we're being selfish (you can't be serious) feel free to take a swivel on our collective upturned digits one at a time while you have a long hard think about yourself ;) -
What he meant was that there is little point comparing a completed game with 2 years worth of modding already, to a half built one that has not even entered the stage where modding is possible. It's like organizing a race between a 7 year old child and an adult and complaining that there's something wrong with the child because he lost. Of course he lost, but that has exactly 0 relevance to his potential to be a great runner later in life when he is grown up. To make the comparison while one racer is still a child is plain stupid and the same is true in this case.

Welcome to the meat grinder bud xD I'll pm you across my steam ID for meetups if you find yourself wanting more than solo play. I spent my first 6 months in DayZ playing purely solo and it was great, but it's also a nice (and very different) experience to play with friends. I assume the guy(s) saying it was a mistake to buy DayZ are joking, but if not you must understand you need massive cast iron balls to play DayZ well and some people just don't cut the mustard ;) Don't blindly trust, but don't avoid contact completely. The human interaction and unpredictability of that interaction are a big part of what makes DayZ great. Some of the funniest experiences i've had in game so far have involved me being taken hostage and abused by others, and some of the best have been visa versa. Just remember whatever you do, don't turn into the guy who actually acts like a douche while you do it. With the right attitude you can hurt someone and still be a nice guy :)

I've worn a couple of different ghillie suits over the past few years, and to be completely honest i think the heat factor is being exaggerated a little in DayZ and also on these forums. I was warm but at no time hot even when jogging medium distances, in summer and winter in the Uk climate. The camouflage was excellent and several times i had people walk within a couple of meters of me without the slightest clue i was there. In a DayZ style survival situation it would be perfectly possible to construct a ghillie suit to fit the needs of the climate. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that i could feasibly wear a light ghillie suit all day every day for an extended time if the need was there and the alternate risk was great enough. It stands to reason that infected possess the same senses as a healthy human, and therefor a ghillie suit is a VERY effective way to avoid detection in an area of matching vegetation. To put it simply, if i were in DayZ in real life i would seriously consider making a ghillie suit. I think the in-game ghillie suit looks so thick and solid that it seems to some that it would be impossible to exert the slightest effort wearing one, this is not the case since ghillie suits must match the climate as well as just the local flora. You are not going to kill yourself wearing it unless you make or use it very badly. EDIT : Typo

Try joining a server with some people on it, ye anonymous 1st post loot hopper ye!

Couple of little birds with side benches per map would be sweet. Literally like 1 or 2 per server.

Hehe, just wait til he tries to paint a fully kitted assault rifle and it all disappears XD

From a fresh spawn to a war machine. Cherno hospital killing spree. Seems like everyone had m4...
KenoSkir88 replied to Toperek1990 (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Don't think those were dupers, much more likely they got their M4's from cycling officer tents / server hopping. Evidence for this is the differences in M4 setup on each guy and their wildly varying general kit. Dupers in my experience will all have the same attatchments on their guns (best kit etc) and generally the same uniform / bag for easy recognition in a fight. Could be wrong, just my 2c. Sweet skills tho man nicely cleared :) -

...jesus dude it's a game :/ -
Nice vid :)

Hehe, i'll bet it's tedious when you don't know how to use a compass in dayz :) I tend to set it as the number 8 or 9 slot in the hotbar so it's always visible bottom right of the screen. Hit the ` (tilde) key to the left of the number 1 key to view the hotbar without changing weapons.

Pretty good shot, shoulda talked to him tho :P
-
Base not that big. Used word "Banter". -2 points i'm afraid :(
-
Nice vid, confirming sporter sucks tho ;)
-
Totally agree, especially point 5.

○ Zombies ! ! ! - Seriously.. 3?? ... 3 zombies.. This is officially call of duty with large size maps until we get the Z back in DayZ. ○ Helicopters - Very much cannot wait. Since i'm fairly sure we'll get neither of these in .59 i really don't care what new weapons, backpacks and glitches are added.

Try searching out the SoS server. It's run by some friends of mine and they're heavily into the Anti-KOS / semi RP side of dayz, based in the Uk.

A "Pirate" server? Can you elaborate?

Wasn't suggesting they share territory, just that with pack size anywhere from 4 to 20 or 30 and the constant need to move around the territory to find food, i can see wolves being a back of the mind consideration. The kind of once in a while thing that would make dayz deeper without necessarily changing gameplay too drastically. Big territory yes, but the wolves are moving anywhere up to 100 miles or more a day throughout it as are we the player. It would be a fun thing to bump into once in a great while.

Sorry i should have clarified - "when they could be playing on a semi-ok pc, that is similar in price to a PS4 or Xbox1 but kicks the crap out of both performance wise." There ya go fixed it for ya :) "lol"... really people still do that?

To be honest here mate you're kind of ignoring the obvious. The map isn't big enough for mankind to have evolved purely there either, but it goes unsaid that this is just a small section of the world. Notice the buildings everywhere? The man made wells and wrecked vehicles and infastructure, the schools? I wonder did you see a school for the first time and say "tut tut, as if this is a large enough map to support the human race". I doubt it, because it's obvious :) When i find a cat in my garden i don't instantly think "oh man i never knew my garden was enough territory for this cat to live exclusively".. Instead i prefer the more realistic "oh look there's a cat in my garden". If Chernarus is the kind of land you would find wolves then i'm happy to accept that our small part of the map is not the only part there is, and all the evidence already supports this view. Bring on the wolves.

Well, since you can fit the Kashtan on several weapons of varying caliber you can't really expect the static rangefinding reticle to work for all of them, for obvious reasons. With a Kashtan on an Ak-74M here in the real world you can expect to have to shoot approx 25cm low at 100m due to the standard 400m calibration. I'm sure you can probably figure out that when the same optic is used on a gun firing a different caliber of round with different velocity and weight, the calculations shown on the optic (which remain always the same) cannot be correct for both weapons. Practice is key, go find out for yourself.

Hospital tents, both NWAF and Mysh - Common :)

Errrr, unless i'm very much mistaken you still just make a fire and light it with matches same as 6 months back :) There's bark n stuff for kindling if you like now, and you can also make a fire lighting kit with a stick and some bark if you don't have matches, but the original method still works sweet.
